I like that within 8 minutes of playing a Premier League team in the FA Cup for the first time in a while, their keeper kicks a player's ear off and all of the Millwall fans shout "let him die" and boo him.

Sargent has a spot lined up for himself in Toronto. He is hoping that playing MLS for a few months will get him on the squad

If Sargent had stayed in England, kept Norwich up, and scored a bunch of goals then I would have accepted him as a potential for a third striker. Even moving to a better team and trying to play his way into the squad would have been better. But forcing a move to the MLS better freeze him out of the USMNT (until it comes to that off year Gold Cup)
 
Flamengo and Palmeiras are fucking rich beyond almost everyone else in the league, and thus they can buy whoever they want. Simple as.

Heck, the president of Palmeiras owns one of the largest credit lenders in Brazil, and she uses some of the excedent profits on the team as she damn well pleases.

They have lots of fans and money, I miss the time when they weren't well managed financially.

I still think it is a dumb decision but other than their own stadium, what else will they buy since they already dominate Brazil and South America?

Yeah but the thing is that they werent bought by a company, they are still normal clubs. Other clubs are trying to compete by becoming SAF and trying to get investors to give them money. Botafogo was one of them and they managed to win some titles a few years ago.

Palmeiras and Flamengo are now basically what Barcelona and Real Madrid are in Spain. This is a bad thing because brazilian football was never dominated by a very few unlike european countries.

For context: Real Madrid went from 3rd, to 8th, to 9th and needed a goal to hop back into 8th, meaning they're now going to have to play in the knockout stages. Benfica were in 25th place, one place off of the top 24 they needed to be in to advance, meaning they were out on goal difference and needed a goal too. Real Madrid get 2 players sent off in the dying minutes. There were 5 minutes added time. Through nonsense, as per usual, we end up in the 8th minute of added time. Benfica get a free kick. Real Madrid down 2 men, and Benfica needing a goal, send up their goalkeeper. From the set piece, Benfica's goalkeeper scores a header, Benfica go through to the knockout stages.

It's not even a month into the year and already this might be one of the best modern years for football just in terms of sheer insanity.
 


Honestly bros, growing up and throughout all of my life I've seen some incredible things in American sports. But football, this game is just different gravy. At times it's an otherworldly experience.

Apparently Benefica's coach (Mourinho) didn't know they needed another goal until after he had sent on his last subs.

They also sold James Ward Prowse. I think West Ham are preparing for relegation and selling off as many players as they can as high as they can

Real Betis v Feyenoord- Betis are holding off Porto in the goal differential game while Feyenoord are on the outside looking in. They are 2 points back of Celtic in 24th so they need to win. A draw or loss is no good here
Ludogorets v Nice- eliminated French side travel to Ludogorets who are 1 point from safety but are within striking distance of 5 clubs at the bottom of the table

There are a few other games but these seem like the ones to watch

That or we need money for the centreback we desperately need (:optimistic:)

Paqueta, as much as I love the div, had his days numbered. We've played well since he was dropped and a flair player like him is a liability in a relegation scrap. Funniest player I've ever watched though. Sell up and reinvest in something we need (not adama fucking traore)

Ward-Prowse is a loan only atm. Nuno doesnt rate him (same as last season when he got loaned to Forest) and he's like 5th choice for CM atm, this was probably more a 'I need to be playing' move than west ham needing to get rid
 
Inter seem to be picking up form at the right time, a 2-0 win away against dortmund in the champions league no matter the context will always be impressive, add that to their 6-2 thrashing of pisa. I'm still wary because they can be inconsistent especially this season but the champions league seems to be what they're focusing on so...

Celtic won 4-2
Stuttgart won 3-2
Porto beat Rangers 3-1
Real Betis beat Feyenoord 2-1

So 9 points was the cut off from here. Young Boys dropped out of the spots to qualify. Brann survive based on GD. Ludogorets and Celtic moved up and comfortably survived.


Porto managed to jump into the top 8 with a Ferencvaros loss to Nottingham Forest. Everyone else remained
