Still don't understand why they wear pride attire to an Islamic country like Qatar. It could be a protest about Qatar's apparent hypocrisy regarding allowing that stuff for all I know, but if the government says no, and you're a foreigner that doesn't know jack shit, you probably shouldn't do it. You think you're participating in civil disobedience and all that but you're just being retarded and oblivious.

Say you were to wear a shirt plastered with Lee Myung-bak's face and went to North Korea...

Anyways back to football, I'd love to see Morocco rock Portugal's shit and live Ghana's unrealized dream of an African nation reaching semi-finals.
It's more pointless grand standing for ass pats on social media. Qataris aren't going to see rainbow shit and then magically change their ways and culture.

Is it a little tragic? Sure. Is it a little funny? Of course!

But seeing a journalist who fundamentally disagreed with the entire Qatar World Cup decide to cover it while seriously ill dying is peak irony. The guy had the best excuse to avoid covering it by sitting at home recovering but NEEDED to get to Qatar so he could attempt to dab on Qatari security by wearing fag clothing.

So the comments floating around the usual plebbit subs, r/soccer and r/worldcup, are all dogpiling Argentina. Obviously "muh lack of diversity" is the topic du jour, among other things.

/sp/ is right, these fucking tourists should be hanged.

Well that's another for the kill count of the trans community. They sure keep getting away with it

So what would be your favorite finals?

France - Croatia as a rematch for 2018? Or perhaps Argentina vs Portugal (the duel of old giants though I suspect that Ronaldo would sit this one out)

A few funny things I saw in light of yesterday:
Starting at 10:58 - Neto (Former Corinthians keeper) completely loses his shit at Brazil losing the penalty kicks against Croatia. Totally blamed Tite for the loss, and I don't fully understand portuguese, it sounds somewhat similar to spanish. However, I did find an article, and thus, I do have an incomplete translation of his rant:

Tite, you son of a bitch, you bastard! I said it was Neymar to kick, it's Tite's fault. Neymar missed out on kicking a penalty, the biggest penalty-taker in the world. Shameless, you don't deserve to be there! You should have let Neymar take the penalty, had a chance for Alisson to get it, you donkey!

Dunce, idiot, you finished the country. A suffering country, where people pay $300 for a [Brazil] jersey. You took your family [to Qatar], you don't think about the people, the people who are on the street. You idiot, you missed the easiest World Cup!

You see Tite. A popcorn guy [pipoqueiro, a theatrical person who doesn't do well in big games], who does media, embraced by the CBF [federation that runs Brazilian football], did not even speak a word for the benefit of Brazilian football. Tite is a little friend of the guys, Ricardo Teixeira, Marco Polo Del Nero. Do you know where you're going? Out! Can I believe in this country, in the people who run this institution, the CBF?

The other thing is the usual journalists rushing to make Argentina into villains without telling the whole story.
Luckily, some journalists did their jobs, and people are spreading this clip:
Basically, the dutch players not only trash talked but also blatantly pressured Lautaro Martinez before taking the last penalty kick that would eliminate them. They did the same thing to Enzo Fernandez and he missed, so they probably figured doing that again would work. The Dutch, essentially, fucked around and found out, and some "journalists" on twitter are leaving out the part where they fucked around. Instead, said journos are posting the image where the dutch players are sad and the argentine players are celebrating in their faces. Very old school tactic of changing the perspective.

I felt that in my soul, he is absolutely right.

I dunno what's worse -- Italy hasn't qualified in a world cup for over 8 years. They won the Eurocup and thought the playoffs would be easy pickings but alas, they lost again. It's a massive deal in Italy, plenty of pastas are royally pissed off at the players and the team as a whole, just talk to an Italian and he'll tell you all about it.

It's why I definitely sympathize with both Brazil and Italy, they just can't catch a break.

In the case of Brazil here, it's all about "so close yet so far away".

Different angle/longer video here. He initially pets the cat a bit and then just throws it like an animal, honestly no need to handle it by the scruff when by that point he'd obviously established it was friendly. Glad they lost, cunt.

Thankfully the cat appeared to be okay.

He picks the cat up by the extra skin on its neck and supports it by holding its back and gently drops it around two foot maximum down onto the smaller ledge. If anything it shows that he's pretty experienced with handling cats.

That extra skin is literally there for cats to be picked up by their parents.

I once read the perfect summary of Reddit - It's stupid people pretending to be smart.
First thing they do as good NPCs who read the news is start discussing exactly what the media wants them to believe, even other points of view be damned and decried as "fake news" and whatnot. Fuck Reddit forever.

Mind you, Neto is kind of a lolcow here in Brazil and his commentaries are hit-or-miss because he has both a severe case of unwarranted self-importance and a pathological need to be right at all costs. Here, however, he was spot-on.

So Wout Weghorst's 2 goals against Argentina matches his 6 month total as a burnley player. He was supposed to be Chris Wood's replacement in January to keep Burnley up but sucked ass. There was an incident over the summer where Connor Roberts of Wales confronted Weghorst, who scored a late against Wales to beat them in the nations league, asking why he didn't do that for Burnley. Later Weghorst did an interview where he said he wouldn't play in the Championship with Burnley and get them up. Instead he would just go elsewhere, like Besiktas on a season long loan with an option to buy. I am sure with Besiktas sitting in 8th place at this point in the season, they are chomping at the bits to buy him

Incredibly well played half by Morocco. Portugal is not going to get back in this game with runs in behind from Ramos, Morocco is too organized defensively. Portugal needs a player like Leao, who is one of the best in the world at beating his man. imo, this is the front three that should start the second half

Bayern Munich's season could be more thrilling than they wanted:

1) Lucas Hernández got injured in the first game against Australia and is very likeley out for the rest of the season.
2) Manuel Neuer broke his hand while skiing yesterday and is definitely out for the rest of the season.

Spain, Croatia, and Belgium couldn't score against this Morocco team and Portugal desperately need to.

Can they become the first african team into the semis of a world cup?

The booing and whistles are annoying the piss out of me. I want Morocco to loose just because of this fucking crowd.

First time watching football or something? Why is there so much seething about this (and the dancing, celebrating etc) this world cup? Did everyone forget during the crowdles covid times that football crowds exist?

It's the Morocco fans behind their goal being super obnoxious. It's annoying, nearly as annoying as those fucking horns in South Africa which ruined the compeition.
