An update on the whole Copa América shitshow. Apparently, parts of our national team are willing to boycott the whole thing, and they're only going to officialize it... after their Qualifier match against Paraguay this Tuesday night. This threw our footy federation in full disarray. Not to mention a very convenient sexual harassment investigation has been thrown against CBF's current prez. He, in turn, promises to oust head coach Tite, who was leading the boycott, before he gets the shaft too.
There is some implication that this is yet another attempt at getting at Bolsonaro, who accepted the hosting rights along with CBF when they were asked to do it, but the full disclosure of this transaction is unknown.
Problem is, every other federation said they're willing to play it, providing the coof-preventing protocols will be strictly followed. Also, as I mentioned, there is a full date of World Cup Qualifiers being played, with the next matches taking place this Tuesday. For a lot of people, it sounds illogical to not host the Copa América while these games, plus our national championships of all tiers, are given the go-ahead to play normally.
Some also say it is because, for the first time in ages, Globo is not going to air the competition. Gotta remind you that Globo is not only the biggest network in Brazil, they're majorly influential upon the populace to this day. And boy, are their sports commentators in a tizzy to call the whole thing a travesty, while all the others are treating it just fine and even calling out the Globo crew as to why are they so particularly butthurt over this.
