Pickford salvaged todays game for Everton, with the win putting them two points away from safety and a game in hand. Getting tense at the bottom of the table

Lukaku really has been a bust this year. I don’t pay much attention to Premier league and maybe he has been injured, but 5 goals in 23 appearances is a huge drop from 47 in 72 with Inter

Haven't watched him much either but he's just been shit when I have. Seems low on confidence as well.

I'm waiting for the day when footballers realize they have something good and to just hold on to it. But then again that goes against the idea that footballers are thick, which they obviously are. Could have been an Inter legend, living in an incredible city with a rich history and plenty of shit to do, in a fantastic country, was loved, was competing for trophies, was enjoying his football. Retard was living the life. And it's not like Inter are some small fucking club, but he treated them like they were going by his comments where he basically insinuated that he was using them as a stepping stone so he could hopefully go to Real or Bayern.

Now look at him. On the wrong side of his 20's, on massive wages, in horrible form. Forget Madrid, he better start home hunting in Sevilla, because he's done at the bigger clubs unless Inter want him back.

He just doesn't fit the system for Chelsea at all. A repeating problem for the club that doesn't allow for prep and internal development, rather cycling in new managers every other season and buying whatever is in reach, expecting everything to work. Having spent millions with next to no return and core players leaving on free, they are repeating Arsenal's mid 2010's.

This is all even more amusing to me because of what Lampard achieved with a fucking transfer ban. They really should have listened to his player shortlist

Conte was leaving and there was no guarantee Lukaku was going to thrive in that new system. Also I think he is getting paid at Chelsea and I can't really fault a player for wanting to make money (as long as they aren't deadwood at my club lol).

I do have to thank Chelsea though. Thanks to them sucking, the relegation battle is interesting again and the battle for Champions League might now include another team

He would do better by not being so big at Chelsea, his mobility looks limited from what I’ve seen. It worked well with Conte, but I think Tuchel is always looking for a mobile striker. He played with Aubameyang in Dortmund and preferred Icardi and Neymar at CF over Cavani at PSG. Makes sense for Lukaku to get the big bucks but this makes little sense for Chelsea.

Oh yeah, the Lukaku purchase was a dumb one. I think Lukaku, with all his physical characteristics, should not play in the premier league. He does extremely well in other European leagues where his size can bully center backs to hold up the ball and link play. I think he would do extremely well in Spain, Germany, and back in Italy. It just doesn't work in England despite everything saying otherwise

Can someone double check League One for me and make sure I am seeing this right. Did Fleetwood survive and Gillingham get relegated on goal difference alone?

Yeah - both teams had a W/D/L record of 8/16/22, Fleetwood with a GD of - 20, Gillingham with - 34 (Morecambe just above them on 42 points with a GD of - 31, so an absolute parade of whipping boys this season)

Gillingham was given the impossible task of a title contender for a final game.

But you know what I hope isn't impossible? Brentford winning tonight to make the European spots that more competitive into the final month
I am pulling for Brentford too. That might create enough of a distance that United realistically can't make top 4 and instead need to concentrate on holding of West Ham and Wolves from getting in Europa league/conference in the remaining games. Although United will have only 2 games after to get the points they need

I am just bias as a Brentford fan, ha.

Salford's play-off aspirations are over in today's May Day clash, with a 2-2 draw with Mansfield. I doubt anyone would be disappointed to hear that. Port Vale is playing right now, in a must need win tie against Newport. Currently 1-0 down and close to bottling the automatic spot to Northampton. Stockport County also just kicked off. They'll be needing to beat play-off aspiring Chesterfield to push closer to automatic promotion glory. I genuinely hope they do. Fuck Wrexham and Ryan Reynolds.

Oh and Derby's sale is likely going to be confirmed within 10 days to Chris Kirchner. Assuming he keeps Rooney on, it's going to be a wild League 1 adventure.

Edit: Port Vale blew automatic promotion and will have to not only win on the final fixture against title chasing Exeter City, but hope that Northampton, Bristol Rovers and Mansfield Town all collectively lose. Highly unlikely to happen, considering Bristol Rovers have the pleasure of hosting dead bottom Scunthorpe United.

So Arsenal need to win 1 of their next 4 to deny ManUre a CL spot. Pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. What if City or Liverpool win CL though, there's an extra spot up for grabs, right?
