You've to see the bigger picture. This is Cape Verde's first appearance at the WC and they managed to do what Egypt, the big dog of AFCON, could only manage this year: get past the group stage.

Egypt has won the cup seven times, including a treble for 2000, 2006 and 2008. Egyptian sides Al Ahly and Zamalek are the most successful teams in CAF Champions league history with 12 and 5 titles respectively and and additional 8 runners up. All this success however has never materialized rat the WC.

Morroco has done better but if we go by trophy case, Egypt is the big dog.

Terrible defense, the two goals for Cape Verde were clear mistakes on Argentina's defense, which Cape Verde skillfully exploited.
On the other hand, Argentina's goals were perfectly precise pass, a bounce off a corner, and a good header off a corner.
Also CPV goalie is amazing, a lesser goalie would have conceded more goals.

As always Argentina's national team proves itself to be the best fine tune remote torture machine ever conciebed by man.
One up, they relax and eat a goal. Same thing happened last time.
Cape Verde played amazing, but Argentina's defense left two attackers completely alone, twice and both time they scored.
I hope Scaloni gives them a thorough fleecing.

Also, while the Cape Verde defense was incredibly, Argentina took too seriously the mindset of give it to Messi and he'll score. The two times other players took initiative we almost scored.

Argentina defense has always been its weakness going back to 2010.

They haven't had good defense since 2006 when Zanetti and Ayala were around.

In the 2022 WC final, they almost pissed away the cup if it wasnt for Dibu's leg.

The next few days are going to be absolute bangers. We have England entering the Thunderdome of the Estadio Azteca to play Mexico in a round of 16 home game for Mexico. You bongs have no idea. The American national team has to deal with that bullshit every season. There is no comparison, and the only thing close to trying to explain it would be saying "its kinda like Chelsea playing an away game at Arsenal". Absolutely bonkers how the RNG gods brought this match up about. Then there is the USA vs. Belgium with the USA team down a man due to a red card, but also playing a home game in Seattle which is rather famous for how autistic they are about home games. Then there is Norway vs. Brazil just to round things off with a good underdog story.

This is a most excellent tournament. One would almost think FIFA wrote a script for it.
