Who goes around a hotel just opening random trash pizza boxes to see what’s inside?
People are saying hotel staff but this wasn't posted on Twitter by hotel staff so idk why folks are saying it.

I almost wonder if it was planted for internet points.

but this wasn't posted on Twitter by hotel staff
how do you know? you think every 20 year old wagie that works sweeping hotel floors is gonna have a big blue checkmark Verified Official Hotel Staff account?

but also i reckon, someone who knows furries very very well, could've just opened it out of curiosity
i think many people would knowing the potential lolz

Again
Who says a furry can't be con staff?

Hotel staff and con staff aren't the same. You're confusing me now.
A hotel furry wagie that has to sit through all the degeneracy of a convention every year AND clean it later. furry.jpg

AI sure has a way of ruining every joke by replacing whatever your imagination can conjure with a crappy uninteresting interpretation

Furry clothing company Nomad Complex announced that they are canceling their agreement to vend at MFF in response to Trump winning the election. How furries will cope with the absence of mass-produced t-shirts at the convention remains unknown.

As a Canadian owned and operated business, we are required to import our goods into the United States as well as obtain specific visas in order to sell physical merchandise. We have done this successfully in the past, but there have been instances where border security has made incorrect judgment calls based on their limited knowledge of cross-border economics. We have been denied once before only to have the issue corrected once someone knowledgeable was able to intervene in the situation.

Given the devastating results of the election, we have made the extremely difficult decision to withdraw our booth from Midwest Furfest.

With the border being such a volatile subject and the emboldened overreach of authority that we feel they will now exercise given the election results, we cannot justify taking the risk of crossing the border to vend - even if we have done everything correctly. We have countless friends and family within the United States and jeopardizing the ability to be able to see them is not a risk we can take under the incoming administration.

The most important part of attending conventions for us is fostering community. Nothing warms my dumb heart more than stories of when folks make chance encounters with other furries seeing a Nomad shirt and thinking "Oh good. You're safe with me." You know you've seen a friend. Providing comfort and safety is our main goal, and getting to see you, hug you and remind you guys how much we love you is more important than a bottom line. Things are going to be tough for a while. We wish we could do even more from up here as your neighbors to the north. But please, remember to be kind, patient and understanding of one another as we all absorb the gravity of the situation we now find ourselves in.

We love you. And if you ever find yourself thinking scary thoughts or like things aren't going to get better, take a page out of our book - Find success and live as long as you can out of sheer fucking spite. That'll drive them crazy.

Personally, I fail to see the logic behind their decision to pull out of MFF. If the reason is that they’re a Canadian company concerned about potential border changes under Trump, this would have no immediate effect on MFF, as his inauguration is more than a month after the convention.

The quote tweets are pretty funny though:

It's more than likely a "helpful" excuse that they came up with in order to no longer vend at US cons. They've already demoed it once at BLFC last month; they ran a vending booth and pretty much all they had was 5 sample t-shirts, a QR to their website, and stickers to give out to people who purchased online.

If I had to guess (read: wildly speculate) they probably no longer admit to customs that they are travelling for business purposes to evade taxes/visa denial at the border.

I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case, I’ve heard from Pokémon fandom grapevine that TPCi refused to host their World Championships outside of the US for that similar reasons, just change “actively evading taxes” to “being annoyed about how much bookkeeping and tax payments costs” and “logistics of shipping promotional products from the US to another country being a pain in the ass”.

And they we’re kind of proven right when they hosted Worlds in Vancouver B.C. back in 2013, there were rumors of TPCi having to pay additional fees on top of what was expected and a post-tournament theft scandal shook ‘em a bit. It took ’em until 2022 (it would’ve been in 202 but lol Covid) to host ‘em outside of the US again, this time in London.

The inverse is definitely true given that Nomad Complex is in Vancouver BC, it's probably a huge pain in the ass for them to do anything in the States.

I don't remember their original reason for closing up shop (cost or warehouse related?) but for them to reopen online, "vend" at BLFC, drive their entire booth down to show samples and their freebies isn't free and it does suck. You have to deal with customs both ways and deal with taxes at least one way, plus the labor and time of the convention itself. And that's just to Reno, where I think its realistic to have those costs made up by sales online. I can't imagine doing the same thing all the way to Chicago and breaking especially without physical merch to sell at con.

I think the election results are just a convenient reason to be public about dropping out. They bit off way more than they can chew by trying to "vend" with the costs of a physical booth right off the bat again.

after the founder https://linktr.ee/mechanicalmelancholy was apparently caught in the act of being physically abusive toward their partner
It must have been something serious for Melancholy Hellhound to suddenly up and vanish from all his social media outlets.
Wait so where is the speculation that it was abuse coming from? Are you pulling stuff out of your ass or have you seen credible claims that domestic violence was the reason?

If you're going to make this claim you really need to back it up.

It must have been something serious for Melancholy Hellhound to suddenly up and vanish from all his social media outlets. Why would a successful furry event find the need to remove him from staff? Also to rebrand and change venues from one as welcoming to them as the Buddies In Bad Times Theater. The reasons were that Melancholy owned the "Fierce Furries" domain name and was the one employed at the aforementioned theater. The remaining staff had to switch event names and venues after the discrepancies between them and Melancholy Hellhound who created the furry event group in order to continue on under a new brand name and keep the drama on the down-lo from the attendees.

Without direct evidence i.e police reports, screenshots, audio or video proof, you are just making assertions. I followed their socials before they deleted them. She (Melancholy is a pooner) had a long history of disassociating, & emotional instability, so how do you know they left for the reason you claim?

A more appropriate post would've mentioned that you're unsure of it being true or false, saying it's rumoured and possibly worth looking into. Many things have started with a rumour, so they can still be worthwhile, but you must state that.
