Cooking bacon on the goddamn sidewalk in front of a higher end hotel while I’m sure there’s probably a perfectly good restaurant inside, and bitching when the staff tells you to put out the god damn joint.

I have to commend the employees for not just losing their shit at this point lol.

Here are a few more DenFur highlights I saw from casually browsing Twitter:

Bitching because staff told them wearing a jacket that says "better a faggot than a fascist" in convention space was inappropriate, was asked to change, refused, then had their badge revoked. There are conflicting stories stating that staff also confiscated the jacket, but I'm not sure if that happened as well.

Somehow I don't think the hotel staff hated you when the contract was signed. That probably started about ten minutes after the first furry arrived.

This one slayed me, hardcore. The friend that they were selling on behalf of, the one who needed money to make rent, is Yamishizen, a fursuit maker known for owing over 40 fursuits to clients. They have multiple luxury cars, and notoriety in the fandom for producing garbage quality suits if they think you're "not worth their time".

Honestly I'm surprised the hotel staff didn't remove him from the property for doing this. Seems like a remarkably "homeless-core" thing to do around such an upscale establishment. Then again I'm certain he's only doing this to test the rules since he got chewed out for smoking on hotel property the night prior. Who the fuck brings a Coleman camping griddle to a furry convention aside from someone who's intent is clearly to just cause trouble?

Glad to hear Denfur has the common sense to put their foot down with trashy clothing like this. Again, the person wearing it was wearing it specifically to cause a scene and make problems for guests, simple as. Denfur sounds like it has its shit together.

Believe it or not, card spam like this is a surprisingly common issue at a lot of furcons, because there's tons of people who will just throw random business cards and stickers all over the convention space in the hopes that someone will notice them. Without powerleveling too hard, I know someone on staff at a convention and they say this is a huge nuisance to clean up (for both the furcons and the hotel) and events often try to keep this contained to one area, but it's also insanely easy to track who's doing it because they leave all their socials on the card.


These replies perfectly encapsulate what's wrong with furries:
Person 1: "There was a dedicated board to put cards on, why didn't you put them there?"
Person 2: "Denfur staff are nazis."

So to recap, DenFur is "the worst con ever" because

They will ban you for trying to sell shit without a permit, thus evading taxes, which the convention would be liable for, then running off when confronted after already being warned two times to cut it out. Also the guy you tried to sell it for is a grifter.

They won't allow you to advertise your non-con-(hah!)-sanctioned music show. Except you do it anyway and then spiral into a public breakdown because the weather gods were mean.

Hotel staff was rude to you for smoking on the venue which isn't allowed. Also you retaliate by cooking bacon on a gas cooker, on the floor next to a main entrance.

Con staff asks you to take off your edgy cool anarchy jacket because it says "Better be a faggot than a fascist" on the back when everyone know the mere IDEA of gay slurs would get them dogpiled on Twitter.

I knew that most big furcons have a bunch of orgy-surfing potheads attending but holy FUCK, when did it turn into such a Karen-fest?
 
It's strange to see all these cons slowly cracking down on stuff that ruin there public image and parties. I wonder how BLFC and MFF will be this year. The two biggest party cons.

I also think that's why a lot of the smaller cons have been growing in popularity as they tend to have way more leeway and hotels tend not to care as much because there aren't 700+ ruing shit

Unironically 2016 and covid. They're trying to make everything into some kind of anarchist commune. But like any anarchist commune it has a bunch of very strict rules.

The music thing is weird. That kind of 'look at my website' card is everywhere at furry cons and fully tolerated.
