personally I think it comes down to so many new englanders being raised by WASPs and adopting/spreading the punitive authoritarian puritan mentality, just centered around a coomer cult rather than a biblical one

anyways idfk how we undo this, it's a whole fandom, whole internet type problem, even if it's more concentrated there. reactionary pendulum swinging to the horseshoe-theory opposite like awoo/free fur all clearly didn't persuade many people and came with its own idiocy induced lulz

This. This is the general issue. Sorry to out myself as a furfag (again it's a very small percentage of my life) but the other cons I've been to don't feel that way (even other NE cons). At ANE I always felt like I was doing something wrong, even if I was just...existing. It's just a weird vibe from staff.

I appreciate the honesty from both of you, and you don't have to worry. This confirms quite a bit of why ANE seems so retarded compared to the rest of the major cons: the furries of New England are ginormous stuck-up snobs? How very """inclusive""" of them.

Personally, I just choose not to give a shit. When furry is just a side hobby and not 100% of your life, it's a lot easier to just watch shit unfold from the sidelines and step around it when possible

There are a lot of Mursuiters among them and a LOT of them are quick to start lots of big drama.This combined with non Suiters being the worst sexpest when you actually have one just makes things way worse.. There is some interesting drama around these people that I have always wanted to start a thread on them but that community is way to small so it would pretty much be a self-dox. I know of Remy and he and someone I know apprently really hate each other so much so that there was group chat drama and some other gay shit.

Furpoc and Furrydelphia are actually fun because the bring in a lot of the Midwest furs and those niggas could give less of a shit about who you are as long as you can party or atleast remotely likeable that and there parties are way more fun not just fagy orgies.

MFF had 13k attendees, while that's a good sized con the second rate con in decline afest has 15k. When you take the size of your average animecon has about 5-15k in size. Your average furry con tends to be maybe 2000k tops.

People in new England are in general just stuck up snobs. It doesn't matter weather it's white nationalists, furries, sports fans, people in general
Maybe I'm just being a dickish southerner but people from the northeast always tend to look at people not of the west coast ie flyover America as all inbred hicks, racist, or shitskins who aren't white if you talk to white surpremacists. People in new England love to lorde over the fact that they're better then you and they know it. It's gotta come from the puritan mindset. Imagine 400 years ago these were puritans trying to get you killed for witchcraft ie being a Catholic. Now these are the same people trying to get you kicked out for being one of the "unvaxxed".
 
Southerners & midwesterners are fake as fuck though and always up in my business when I want to be left alone. I'd rather have cold indifference than smothering insincere hospitality any day.

Even northeastern americans talk too much. Germany's the one country I've been to where strangers were palatable e.g. they never said shit and in the rare circumstance they did, they were to the point and fully honest

Honestly, with a furry GF when I'm not a furry myself this is something I've observed myself first hand. Furry is maybe one thing every few months and on the phone at the end of the night before going to sleep for her. Yet despite that her few local furry friends are always in drama and there's maybe 12 of furries here in town tops. A few of them don't understand how she can afford things not related to being a furry when she buys weeb trash or we go on dates because they are constantly in debt from furry commissions. They even get confused that relationships can exist between a furry and a non furry. Devours their lives so much they can't comprehend having other interests or interacting with other types of people willingly.

the main reason interanthro relationships can rarely work is that it's hard to find normies who are tolerant of, nvm interested in, the amount of coomerism that is innate to being a furry

I love regaling my non furry partner of furry related drama that happens on a weekly basis. He gets the heavier shit from youtube but the petty squabbles from me. We love some autistic schadenfreude.

DenFur is happening this weekend, and there's already a shitload of drama being kicked up, most of which seems to be due to the shitty judgment of furries. Here are a few of the highlights I've seen so far:

Someone got banned for running around the lobby saying "Please buy this fursuit from me I have no money" and allegedly ran off when one of the staff told her to knock it off, resulting in her getting banned and blacklisted. Unsurprisingly, she immediately took to Twitter to cry about it.

Denfur actually posted publicly about it, correctly stating that selling shit outside of the dealer's den or artist's alley is a blatant violation of the code of conduct. Surprisingly, most of the furries responded positively to this.

Someone else tried to stick up fliers to their unofficial show (eg not approved by the convention staff) around the hotel and was also told by staff to knock it off. Unsurprisingly, they also took to Twitter to cry about it:

Apparently, some furry used the hotel's valet service, and their car was misplaced. Said furry had a meltdown and was banned from the hotel.

Someone got yelled at by hotel staff for smoking in front of the hotel. Worth noting in the replies that the hotel chain (Sheraton) explicitly forbids smoking near the hotel, and said furry point-blank admits they were in the wrong but still mad.
