I personally think that the internet is not and it will never be for kids.

As for the ID thingy it's probably going to be abused by the government (we're talking about the USA gov. so other countries are a different can of worms but still would make for a good discussion) and people who value their freedom would not particularly appreciate it, that's why I suggested forbidding minors any access to the internet.

i only just went and watched this, and the line about the weird shit ipad babies watch giving them subliminal trauma caught my attention.... are any kids getting flashbacks to skibidi toilet? are they subconsciously becoming scared of elsa and spiderman after seeing them do cakefart porn together, or cry when they see a firetruck because they saw their favorite paw patrol character die in a horrific gas leak?

is there a thread on this website on the things kiddies today are made to watch and how it affects them? if not, we need more

It's not new, persay, I'd say it first started in the mid 2000's/2010's
for example, I was exposed to mlp grimdark shit around twelve and never un-became an edge lord.

The difference, I think, is that back then, even if something had an influence on kids, it could be tied back into a greater genre/concept to become overall interested in (such as horror as a genre), whereas today kids are just being given... whatever the hell Elsa and that toilet and stuff is.

The kids won't go to their parents until it's too late. There's a shame in seeing something like that even if it's not their fault.

It's not. There are kids on 4chan who were exposed to CP of kids their age in the early 2000s. Before the Internet was sanitized, fringe violent pornography was flashed as shock images on forums. You are witnessing the results of that in early 30s/late twenties even today. You want to look at the troon pipeline maybe it doesn't start with discord.

Youtube of today is way more widespread, as well as cheap tablets and phones. The SCALE is unprecedented. Plus, kids who saw some shit of 4chan etc. were at a level of development when they were able to operate independently and had at least some agency. While that kiddie content factory slop is on autoplay for hours and for children who maybe not even able to speak yet, let alone turn this shit off. What I am trying to say is, shit that's happening right now is way different from shit that was even 15 years ago. We did not grew up in an enviroment when we were fed this shit perpetually by an algorythm. The biggest equivalent of that from my early internet days is when you google cocane, and the search suggests you to also try heroin. I've also saw quite some shit in less than normie parts of the internet. Far from the worst there was, but some shit regardless. And I've managed to turn out fine. I contribute to society, and even amassed more than 6k positive updoot level on kiwifarms. If I was raised like that, I'd likely be frying my brains on something that doesn't require cognitive activity past not being a vegetable. And future isn't even here yet. Year ago publicly avaliable AI was able to draw barely legible 200x200 picture. Now it more or less learned to draw hands. I don't know how this arc of our history will end, but I am certain that in two years an average person will have access to an industrial-level production for weapons-grade autism at an arms reach. That bastard Kojima promised we would have nanomachines and cool robots by then, not this shit.

the internet didn't used to be something that was prevalent in everyone's lives and it was commonly understood not to be for kids at all
that's the attitude we need to adopt again, the internet is for adults, at the very least kids need to be intelligent enough to find their own way on there

The difference is bandwidth and storage.

During the dial-up era there was very little multimedia (as it used to be called) content, it was mostly text and crap like that.

Broadband opened the gates a little, that's when I started seeing the weird shit like furry stuff (tho waaaaay tamer than any of the stuff ITT), but the coup d'grace was storage, cheap storage changed everything because before that you were limited to uploads in the single megabytes. Now you can upload files and content in the GBs, all for free, so there are no limits to what you can show to others.

The problem is that this has created a feedback loop where people are trying to come up with increasingly more deranged/degenerate crap, all that matters is getting those views and clicks be it outright fake news, porn for children disguised as cartoons, animal gore on youtube, you name it.
