That's actually disgusting if you think about it. It's like marketing something call "fuckbucks" to normal people
I can't help but imagine a kid seeing that and asking his mom what yiffing is. Really, considering what the slang word refers to, if this is really sold to the public, there could come up a moral outrage.

Imvu is turning out to be my favorite troll hahahaha
The fact that they can claim fetish art and porn of furries could bite them. Then again, one of their higher ups is a furry as mentioned by Cuddlebug. Either way, a lot of furries will be mad when the art they draw is IMVU's thanks to Piche selling the site to them. Then again, one should read the TOS since it's stated in the fine print.

That's a shooped pic obviously, but it may very well exist in the near future at the rate things are going. And I'm sure IMVU will "cleanse" the site in order to make it more "palatable to the masses".

Warning! Rumors ahead!

There's been a lot of talk around the fandom about how much Dragoneer sold out for. Gossip has suggested that a recent donation drive may have been used to hide the buyout, as the donation drive spontaneously jumped into the five figures relatively quickly. Based upon some guesstimates, the potential "chunk" that was donated was somewhere in the $12,000 - $15,000 range. No one has confirmed that this is directly related to the IMVU buyout though, however it would be funny if Neer sold out for mere pennies.

So would someone buying out FA constitute a reorganization? Not asking in a business sense, but a semantic one: How does one "reorganize" that which wasn't organized to begin with?

This is just my personal conjecture, but I feel like IMVU might want the FurAffinity "brand" more than anything else. That sounds stupid but hear me out here. "FurAffinity", despite the reputation it has within the fandom, is not something that immediately has a sexual connotation. It could easily be bent and twisted around and reformed into some goofy PG13 "brand" for IMVU's existing glorified Second Life clone. The site and its name can be remarketed to an extent.

FurAffinity, from a technical standpoint, is almost literally the same exact website it was when it launched in 2005. For the past decade, Neer's time vampire has been nothing more than a scotch tape and bubble gum patch job. Fix one leak, another springs up; picture the Hoover Dam scene from Vegas Vacation, that's FurAffinity in a nutshell. A bunch of well-meaning but ultimately inept people running it, and Dragoneer. IMVU bought a junker of a website but I'm expecting them to give it the "classic car" treatment and scrap pretty much everything and set up something new in its place.

WELCOME TO THE SUPER COLLIE SHOW, YOUR SOURCE FOR YIFF N' GOSSIP.

On today's episode: embezzlement. Allegedly, Dragoneer has confessed to using the FurAffinity donation drives to pay off personal debts as opposed to putting them toward business debts, when asked about why IMVU would potentially purchase a company in the debt shitter.

For posterity, here is a link to one of many tweets that contain a screenshot of this tweet in the likely event that Neer backpedals:

This is embezzlement, right? This may as well get screen-capped if Piche were to try and delete it.

Yes that would be embezzlement. He likely sold the site to try and bring the heat off himself and hope everyone just forgets about the whole thing. There's also still the theory he gave it to IMVU in exchange for a larger sum (essentially the site has 6-12 grand in unspent assets, if I give you that and the site you'll give me a bigger buyout).

There are also reports that IMVU attended Furcon last year implying they were in talks to do this with Dragoneer for a while.

I always figured that IMVU (stupid name, BTW) was a scummy place. Good to see I was proven right.

Still, I don't see how god-awful drawings of humanoid animals fucking could or should make you money.

There's a Dragoneer meme going on now

They also allow users to put artwork for use in the game as cosmetics for things like your ingame house and stuff. That IMVU immediately charges money for. And they essentially don't curate this process at all.

Question? If people on Furaffinity decide to leave the website because of IMVU does that mean Furarffinity will be officially done for? Would that mean a new site would be the "next" Furaffinity?
Circle of life.

(I'm told furries will appreciate that reference.)

Now I'm just waiting for the inevitable moment when they decide to put in one of those fursuits with the goofy cartoon eyes as an outfit choice.

It has been reported in this thread that there was a "mass migration" to Fur Affinity back in 2001 from another site called Furnation. Which is still around but it doesn't get anywhere near the amount of traffic Fur Affinity does.

I expect people will gradually migrate to a site like Weasyl or Inkbunny, which are already growing in popularity. From what I've read a lot of furries have nuked their Fur Affinity galleries entirely out of fear that IMVU will continue to take their art.

Oh boy, well that's something. I guess nothing really last forever then.
