That Dragoneer guy seems to have gotten the better end of the deal but why is he saying he's going to use the money he got to buy hardware and software if he's no longer the owner of the site?

Edit:
Oh I think I misread, they are supplying all that stuff?

They sure are pretty trusting.

He says that he's going to buy hardware a lot. He lies. Hard/software maintenance is now IMVU's headache now.

My predictions:

IMVU will enforce FA's account holders to accept IMVU's TOS, which restricts adult content and allows IMVU full copyright ownership of any submitted material, as well as other intrusive things (IMVU has banned people in the past for innocent things like accessing their site with AdBlocker).

IMVU wil find out what a digital clusterfuck FA really is.

Furfags will leave FA in droves. It has happened before. Google up "Furnation", which was the #1 furfag site back around 2001.

FA's value to IMVU plummets, Neer gets shitcanned, FA is left to rot on the vine forgotten if not wiped out entirely.

I am going to sound naive with the lack of experience in website hosting and FA but how much does it cost to run a website? I am not sure if that Dragoneer guy is just greedy or not but I don't think websites need more than a grand a month.

Considering that FA host a lot of furry art (due to having the most traffic of furries and all), it could cost around maybe $1000-$5000. It's a guess and considering how Dragoneer is greedy (His ED article mentions him spending money on expensive stuff aside from a fursuit such as an Alienware computer and a custom computer among other things), most of the money could go to him or something. Again, it's all a guess save for Dragoneer being greedy.

FA has already started to censor content

Also apparently the IMVU community doesn't like it either.

This is also interesting, one of the staff members for IMVU is a furry

There's also reports that IMVU's server technology is full of malware and people are reporting their anti-virus programs flaring up ever since the IMVU buyout.

There are also rumors the original owner of FurAffinity Arcturus is going to take Dragoneer to court over this. Mostly because apparently when he gave Dragoneer FurAffinity he still owned 50% of the site from a legal standpoint and Dragoneer sold it anyway. Furries are digging up dirt on Dragoneer and his mods in preparation for the lawsuit.

Essentially the general consensus on IMVU's attitudes toward the site are "Well we don't have any plans to do anything with it. But we're fully in our rights to do so should we be so inclined". There's also reports that IMVU bought an art site called GASR that they drove into the ground a few years ago.

Hosting a website that hosts images can cost quite a lot. For stuff like harddrives. You'd also need a powerful server to handle that sort of thing unless you're hosting the images on a third party website.

In regards to the lawsuit, this could mean the end for Dragoneer should Arcturus win. Would it mean Dragoneer would at least pay a lot of money if he is found guilty?

Not only that, IMVU's ownership of FA could no doubt be null and void.
That's the biggest reason why it would go to court if it didn't settle.

The only reason I'd assume he'd settle is if he didn't have enough evidence of his ownership. If he did have a black and white contract with the original founder it's extremely likely it would go to court in order to render the sale illegal. Which would very likely get Dragoneer sued by IMVU in retaliation for jerking their chain.

FA's hosting expenses are documented, abeit poorly. We have a full bill from 2010 when the site cost $2k a month for colocation hosting alone. Since then, there have been bandwidth and power upgrades and additional services purchased. I think someone said that bill was more around $3k/month at one point a while ago. The costs add up fast when you add in services like CloudFlare Pro, which they use for two domains ($400/mo total).

The problem is, Princess Piche was far too lazy to figure out a way to monetize the site. He was very proud to sell advertisements by the month for a mere $25, but also had a bad habit of handing out free advertisement space like it was candy. I think half the ads in the rotation are from his free ads. He even once gave free ad space to advertise Five Nights at Freddy's, at the height of it's popularity.

I think this show is going to last for another month or two, until the Board of Directors begin asking why there is a former IT guy wasting their money on a website they own for some reason that doesn't make more than it costs to run.

There's a rumor going around the reason why IMVU bought the site was because of a donation drive where they pulled in 18000$. And apparently 12000$ was left unaccounted for so were likely acquired by IMVU due to acquiring all of the assets.

Yiffcred. This is a thing that exists in our world, in public...

Someone should put furry hunting tags on the rack next to them.

That's actually disgusting if you think about it. It's like marketing something call "fuckbucks" to normal people

All the furries are now freaking out as IMVU is now officially reselling art claiming "it say's in the New TOS that IMVU own's all art posted on here legally"

Imvu is turning out to be my favorite troll hahahaha
