They probably asked what they have planned and they couldn't bullshit their way into 8 seasons.

A surprisingly wise choice to end it at season 5 and have an ending.

I suppose that it's already dropped in viewership or they somehow understand running it for 8-10 seasons is pointless.
I'm just glad it's going to get the chance to end.

Idk what it is, but every time a new season came out I was always surprised that it got another season, and when a show is hitting season 5, that's probably not the feeling you should get when you see a new season come out lol.
I'm just glad this show didn't get the "Evil" treatment, where it almost immediately became a parody of itself and got canned right before the planned ending.

Caught up to episode 4. I’m still enjoying it overall but damn this season feels slower than all the rest.

Someone said this earlier in the thread but it really does feel like each of the female leads gets at least one monologue an episode, which would be okay apart from the fact none of them are great actors.

I’m not a fan of this yellow-man plot as well. It’s pretty clear what’s going to happen and now we just need to wait another 4-5 episodes to see it resolved.

Plus we’ve only seen about 10 seconds tops of the monsters so far this season, any one else notice that?

They are probably thinking that when they keep the focus on the monsters it will lessen the fear factor they bring or make them boring/overused.

But whatever it is they're working with now is tbh more boring anyway.

It’s reminding me a lot of Lost but not in a good way. I’m one of those few people that liked Lost all the way through, mostly because I got invested in the characters. Even when the show was slow it was still fun watching them all interact.

In From I’m just not all that interested in the cast. Boyd is fine and Perrineau is a solid actor. I liked Jim, Sara and Victor are good as the weirdos, Khatri died way too early and the show desperately needs more Donna in it, she’s by far my favorite character. Everyone else is just kind of there. It’s telling that they have a pretty much revolving cast of interchangeable people living at colony house that they can just haul out whenever they need people for an expedition or a crowd scene.

All that said I do enjoy the show and I want to see it through to the end, but they are really starting to eat into some of the goodwill they generated earlier.

Oh good another mystery that they won't reveal but will edge you with. You know a month hasn't even passed within the show?

I tired watching the first season. It feels like it tried but missed the mark. I think I liked Lost and Wayward Pines much better.

Got the latest ep. See a bit from the episode prior... Last thing I recall is the guy finding the shrooms and not using them. I guess I missed an EP. The show seriously fell for me. I don't even remember if I watched an episode or not. Apparently this new one has high ratings on IMDb. Gotta watch an episode I might have watched and forgot it before I watch this one.

They really fucked it up.

It’s the best episode of the season so far I think. Helps that it was mostly centering on the characters I like. Still this whole season has been slow going.
Someone mentioned earlier that you can pretty much get by just watching the first and last 10 minutes of these last few episodes.

Yeah, this one felt like it came from the first season. There was some annoying stuff like the teen daughter and Scarface going nowhere, the nurse is seeing stuff again but so is everyone so who cares, Violin is still puzzling things out but his scenes proved the monsters are integral to this show being interesting. They really need to bring the horror vibe back, because it just feels like a cutesy town where you forget why they’re scared again.

Donna is just great as always, no notes.

I like what they were trying to do with the violin, but like it felt like background music until it was shown. Would have worked better if it was something more distinct. The mushroom trip was lol and the twist was foreshadowed a plenty. I would have preferred if the twist was that
Boyd wasn't there and was just his manifestation and a subplot of Boyd searching for for violin through the woods. Would have added the don't trust shit aspect than what they did.

If they erase the previous last 3 episodes and this were the 2nd episode, this would be a strong start.

I agree on bringing the horror back. The doll thing was just stupid lol. The red shirts were lol. Would have preferred something more frightening.

The nurses are just bad bad bad they need to get killed off or something. The yellow suit trans man needs to just get done with. Shes annoying. She'd work much better if there was no reveal at episode 1 and she acted better. I guess producers needed to spoon feed some shit, but it takes away the mystery.

Wig girl and Scarface plot is interesting but it isn't executed well.

After episode 5 gave me some false hope episode 6 is right back to the snoozefest. Absolutely no reason to watch this latest episode honestly. Nothing really happened and the small handful of eventful moments will be covered by a one minute ‘previously on’ segment.

Having a fake out that my favorite character dying was just lame. I am bored with the Yellow Man subplot and need it to be resolved. It was nice seeing Khatri again but at the same time just reminds me of how far the show has fallen since the first season.

Edit: Even the subreddit seems bored to death with this season, but it is pretty funny at the moment

When yer woman started whispering to the egg during the latest episode is when From turned into a hate watch for me. Nothing ever happens.

Another filler episode...

All that said I do enjoy the show and I want to see it through to the end, but they are really starting to eat into some of the goodwill they generated earlier.

I can't agree more. I really liked the first seasons, but this is dragging on and has lost some of the magic that made me like it in the first place.

It's the unfortunate fate of all shows with a strong mystery at the heart of it, there is so much they can do around it to stretch it until a the unavoidable conclusion.

Yeah I don’t know why they killed Khatri so soon. Or even Kenny’s mom. None of the bus people except Randall and Elvin? Elgin? matter. Cop lady is useless. It feels more like they knew they needed some deaths to make the stakes real again. That’s just terrible writing though, because you get molasses paced episodes.

Episode 7 was 45 minutes of filler and 5 minutes of payoff. I feel like the writers/showrunners are really just taking the piss at this point, this whole season could have been condensed into three or four episodes.

They probably asked what they have planned and they couldn't bullshit their way into 8 seasons.
That in itself makes it superior to Lost. They had enough story for three seasons, and should have been allowed to keep it at that, instead of the network forcing them to write six. I think From was meant to be five seasons from the start. That said: they need to stop creating more threads, this late in the game, or they won't be able to tie everything up nicely. I'm waiting for the slaughter fest that at end of this season. Because, it's definitely going to happen.

On this weeks episode of From Nothing Ever Happens you will never guess what happens. Fucking. Nothing.

Fatima continues to be a whiny bitch. She and Boyd's sons are just charisma vacuums. The whole show insists on giving the majority of screentime to actresses who just aren't that good while sidelining the good performers. Last 2 minutes is all you need to watch of this one.

There was also a massive lack of Donna in this episode.

How are you niggers seriously still watching this shit?
Because next episode is the episode where something finally happens, I can feel it in me bones.
