A lot of those projects are dying, devs getting old, and new generations are not interested it the same genre of games. Nexuiz still exists in it's fork, Xonotic. These are names I've not heard for a long time. Reminds me of when games like Nexius were a thing.
Encore is itself a mod of Doukutsu-rs, which is the definitive way to play the original now. Native widescreen, you can add custom soundtracks, and you can import graphics/music/challenges from most of the official releases. You can even import the visual changes from the Switch version if you have that.it might be a fan game but if you are talking about it, there's also a fan remake in the works titled "cave story encore"

I belatedly found out that there was a freeware thread that was several years old. Still, it has a few good ideas including Tyrian. The problem is that I can't find the Tyrian 2000 version easily anywhere because MyAbandonware is a bunch of cucks who just try to route you through GOG instead.

The Batter, and yourself as his controller, are dropped off in zone 0, the first of 4 zones in a perplexing, unknown world about which you slowly find out more and more in the process of the game.
As a Dink fan myself, I must mention that the GOG version of DinkHD is severely outdated because Seth is lazy about such things. If you want to play it, check out either his official website or the mirrored upload over on The Dink Network.I would recommend dink smallwood which is free on gog.
