I was told that Q&A is the realm for shitposting, so here's a shitpost.

I LIKE FOX NEWS. They're funny, they're irreverent, they're slapstick, they're clownish, and they're goddamn entertaining. Agree or disagree, they're fucking funny. They're consistently hilarious.

You know why CNN/MSNBC/etc. are failing?? NOBODY LIKES THEM. NOBODY LIKES CNN OR MSNBC. Everyone has stopped giving a shit about who's right and who's wrong because CNN & MSNBC are miserable, miserable bastards. They're the Chicken Littles of network TV. They're screechy shrieking whiney hysterics running around in circles with their hair on fire. They're preachy pompous faggots with mics and insufferable opinions.

NOBODY EVEN GIVES A SHIT WHO'S "RIGHT" ANYMORE, CNN & MSNBC. YA BORING. YA BORING AND NOBODY FUCKING LIKES YOU. FOX IS ENTERTAINING. THAT'S WHY THEY'RE KICKING YOUR ASSES.

OK, so questions:
  • does OP have too much time on his hands
  • is OP a bitch
  • is FOX funny
  • should CNN & MSNBC fuck *all* the way off and just start running WWII newsreels 24/7 from now on
hint: nobody cares

Q&A is boring these days, shitpost away.

I never liked Fox because I prefer my news dry and to the point, I didn’t care for how they’d mock stuff as they presented it when I just wanted to know what was going on. But over time I’ve come to appreciate that they openly roll their eyes at all the same things I do. I wouldn’t watch it regularly but I enjoy a clip once in a while.

- we all do
- probably not
- sometimes
- yes

I dislike fox news solely on the fact my mom won't stop watching it on her phone, getting shocked by leftist shit I've told her about years ago.
At least they seem to very much enjoy them selves, every other news casters look dead inside when they're not being unbearably smug.
I also enjoy that dude who just reads off jokes because while most are bad and corny he has the guts to leave in the dead silence when they bomb, I love that shit.

YES, EXACTLY

when the fuck did all mainstream news become a fucking opinion piece?? If I want straight facts I have to wade through hours of direct feeds from C-Span, Forbes or the BBC. it sucks
Blame Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch for proving how narrow the overton window of acceptable politics already was on broadcast news, leading channels to embrace more overt slant in coverage to attract more audience loyalty.

when the fuck did all mainstream news become a fucking opinion piece??
Pretty much since the advent of mass media.
Since the invention of the printing press, every opinionated asshole and institution with access to one was using it to disseminate their slant on current events. Every newspaper was a tabloid. The concept that the news should be "just the facts" was a foreign concept. There were dozens of local newspapers competing in every city and so people gravitated to listening to voices they trust. This trend continued into the days of radio and is why talk radio is what it is.

The only reason "objective journalism" became this gold standard was because television was extremely popular but getting a channel of your own had a high barrier to entry. A small number of competitors in fierce competition for eyeballs resulted in an environment where the best strategy was to cast as broad a net as possible and market yourself as "objective" and "just the facts" or whatever bullshit.
That was a brief period that was only allowed to exist with the strict gatekeeping of the platform. What we have now is just going back to business as usual. "Mainstream" media outlets were just slow to fully take the mask off.

I've learned to laugh at the sad state of modern journalism no matter what the network. It's the only way to cope.
