I'll say this, hearing the crowd go wild as Russell made his way through qualifying was pretty awesome.

i think the sprint race will be a bore unless there is some lap 1 carnage, and max will probably not overtake hamilton. Perez, maybe will make up a place or two, we'll see.

Up front it will be dull but I expect some back of the pack carnage. If you're starting down the back may as well go for it, not much to lose. I'm hoping for some Tsunoda, Stroll et al action. Though a Hamilton engine/gearbox/fuel tank explosion would be the ultimate proof that sprint races should stay.

This “qualifying fastest” language semantics is pretty gay.

Let me guess, Choco Senna will come out and do some protest in the British Grand Prix. Everything will conspire for him to win, then dedicate the victory to the Three Bucks Lions and lift the trophy wearing either a BLM shirt or an England shirt with Saka's name and number behind.

It's all getting tiresome and only makes me want to scream the n-word at someone.
I'm not even going to bother watching Silverstone. The Poms are still feeling super butthurt about Euro 2020 (despite carrying on for weeks as though they'd already won it; there's nothing like the mix of arrogance and idiocy quite like that possessed by the Chav).

As such, Hambone is going to win Silverstone. Max will probably accidentally end up with some defective Pirelli tyres and the stewards will probably give Checo a 10 second penalty just for turning up, along with another 10 second penalty for having the audacity to put his car on the grid at the start of the race. On the plus side, Lando will probably be on the podium, so there's that.

The sooner that farty little chocolate drop fucks off to the States and becomes the head cheese at BLM, the sooner I can really enjoy F1 again.

Formula E crying the cars would be able to go too fast without daddy FIA cutting their energy storage allowance.
Formula E is the Special Olympics of motorsport.

Here is a non-Acestream live feed for anyone who needs it:

It sometimes stops, but just hitting play again seems to fix it.

You think it's bad hearing that shit try being from here. It was nonstop fucking morons. I was so happy they lost then we don't have to hear from those fuckwits forever more. Every tournament I don't care what happens except I want England out as early as possible to shut the morons who don't even give a shit about football until England start winning (much like all the Hamilton fans who used to say F1 was boring and not even a sport until the whinger started winning).

As a side not I got banned from the euro 2020 subreddit for using "chav" apparently its a classist slur. Like fuck off chavs are a cancer who come from many different backgrounds and I know plenty of working class people who aren't chav scum.

So a sacrifice Bottas strategy from Merc. Get ahead of Vestappen to hold him back from Lewis then drop back into the pack once they're destroyed.

...But they didn't account for lewlew bottling the start.

What is with the white outline and name graphics? I may as well watch someone playing F1 2021 if they want to make it look so much like a video game.

So, looks like Sainz and Perez big losers, Alonso big winner out of it! Great first lap or two, but then kind of meh. It was ok, but nothing earther shattering. See what next 2 are like.

Having watched it and thought more on it I think the problem with the sprint qualifying for me is it pushes the car development and set up too much towards race pace rather than forcing them to find the "sweet spot" between single lap pace and race pace. Yes you still have to qualify for the sprint "qualifying" but being 3 or 4 places lower then having a better race package is going to pay off way more. In the older/current method race pace is often the focus but they need to compromise towards single lap pace as a few tenths is many places on the grid.

i still think the sprint race qualifying doesn't really change that much at all, it was just like the beginning of the race with a competition caution. Like, on the last two laps Verstappen went from being 3 seconds ahead to too close for comfort if the race had lasted another lap or two, which is indicative of how much he was coasting to the win. Having more standing start chaos over the weekend is cool I guess, but i still think this shifted the blame away from hotlap qualifying too much as @Coccxys said. The new graphics that were tried were interesting, and from a technological standpoint it is pretty cool how they are able to overlay the graphics on the onboards and helicopter shots like that, but I agree that is was a little intrusive and didn't really add to the experience that much.

Good thing for Red Bull: they have beaten Hamilton fair and square. And now the bad news: Perez did a Mazepin and is now dead last. Fucking hell. Verstappen will have to hope that Leclerc can catch Bottas and hopefully keep him occupied. If not Mercedes will play their strategy games since they have 2 cars in the game Red Bull just one. Though if the Sprint is an indicator maybe Bottas will play second fiddle and not matter.

Today is the 6th anniversary of the death of Jules Bianchi in 2015 (who died from injuries sustained on 5 October of the year before).

max will have to run like hell before his tyres die. i think he has the pace.

The sprint race kinda sorta feels like a regular GP with a red flag after a few laps, so we get another standing start.
Biggest difference: we know the "red flag" is coming and the restart is a day later.

All in all, not a bad mechanic, it just needs a bit polish to make it really shine... but the old system is fine, too, so we really don't need to fix what isn't broken, unless it has a good payoff.
