The big boost came with he envolvment of AMG. they also started selling street legal cars with older f1 engines this year.
The Project One? Not actually old engines, they're newly milled at
Ilmor, sorry, Mercedes AMG High Performance Power-Trains in Brixworth, probably ended up saving a few jobs due to the cost cuts coming in, an amount of workers have been shuffled to non F1 projects. Interestingly this makes them like Ilmor which they left to go focus only on F1. But yeah every bit of R&D done for the project one would have been looked at to see if it could be applied to the F1 project and not cost the F1 division any money.
it's meant to be an explanation why the nut was machined to a perfectly smooth finish, I think it's alright, but if this is meant to put the blame on Bottas, it's just incredibly petty and stupid. The fault lies with the mechanic, that didn't put the tool on the nut before hitting the button and that's it. Bottas not positioning perfectly might be a factor, but it would be a factor in what lead to that mechanic's error - it's not Bottas' error.
They could have worded it a hell of a lot better such as (I am not a PRman):
"Due to Bottas overshooting the marks the mechanics had to quickly reposition themselves and unfortunately this resulted in Bottas needing to retire"

In other news Hamilton appears to have done a good, tl:dr French tennis open players are required to do media duties, Naiomi Osaka says no, get's fined, pulls out and Lewis defends her choice. I agree competitions which allow anyone to enter shouldn't require media duties and I think the only people who can demand media are the people the sportsman has direct contracts with.
