Monaco used to be a war of atrition, with modern reliability of the cars, that's no longer an issue, so there's a lot less tension... but at least there's room for victories based on strategy.

And on a sidenote: lol Mazepin gets warned for ignoring track limits.

Ffs, I will never believe a team will deliberately sabotage a driver and force them to retire, but this is mighty weird, isn't it?
At least I got like a dozen or so angry Lewlew Bloobloo radio calls to make up for that. Whatever is going wrong with them this week? Their pitstop strategy didn't work out at all...

Wow they managed to find someone too dumb to even wave a flag, you'd think she might have enough arm strength to do it. Same as last time they got some "famous" negress to do it last time.

Oh and now interrupt the interview with the winner of the whole race to speak to someone irrelevant to the sport.

See, maybe it's just me, but usually, you don't really see much of the person waving the flag, do you? At best, they mention whoever is doing it, but they cut away to her super awkward waving quite a lot.

In fact, I think I got more footage of her waving that thing like it was a racket than from Vettel's fight for position 5 after his pitstop. Speaking of which: I am so fucking happy he got 5th place. Good driving and a great strategy by AM, Stroll managed to stick 8th as well.
And as happy as I am for Vettel's 5th place and him being driver of the day, I feel Perez was much more entitled to that honor. He managed to gain 5 places and drove like his ass was on fire for the entire race, churning out fast laps like it was nothing.

And on a sidenote, Hamilton stops again and once more there is no issue whatsoever during his pitstop. I doubt that Mercs torpedo their own driver but it is weird how it seems to always happen to Bottas, isn't it?

PS: The Swiss commentators I listened to mentioned that the issue with Leclerc's car wasn't the gearbox, it was the left drive shaft - which is a part that Ferrari can swap without receiving a penalty. Let that sink in.

PPS: My god. My fucking god. The poor fucking guy.

They don't usually show the person waving the flag as its usually just someone from the FIA who does it. When they get these irrelevant famous people to do it it's always a debacle. The absolute best thing about the corona pandemic is the banning of all these people who have nothing to do with the sport from the paddock.

It was always a pet hate when they went interviewing some rapper who doesn't know the first thing about the sport or cut away from.on track action to show some groupie of Hamilton staring at a monitor. I have never seen them cut away from a football match to show some c list sat in the stands so why do it with F1. I have never seen them get some sports person to blow the whistle at the world Cup so why do it in F1? Unfortunately with the pandemic ending they'll be right back in and I bet with liberty desperate for America to watch F1 they'll be filling it with people you've never heard of to try and make it look relevant.

It was the left half shaft which might not even be crash related since the impact was on the right and they changed all that side. They said they aren't even sure it was due to the crash as opposed to just a mechanical failure which would be the ultimate ferrari fail.

I always enjoy the commentators implying that Hamilton winning everything is entirely his genius but when he fails its entirely Mercades. Yeah their strategy didn't work but if Hamilton hadn't screwed his qualifying lap then they wouldn't have been in that situation.

If you need something to cheer up:

I know it certainly cheers me up to see this clown mope like a little kid.

Also this:

My sides are in fucking orbit:

Another gem:
Alonso finished 13th and yet he's very positive and points out how great the pitstops were.
Just compare that with mopey Bloowis.

That Mick move on Mazepin on the first lap, trying to get ahead of his teammate to battle for 18th place, was maximum amount of disrespect. Not sure why Mazepin got ahead of him tho, maybe it was team orders. Anyway, seeing those two floudering around one lap behind 17th place latifi is embarassing.

But yeah, lousy race, but i will always prefer shitty race at Monaco to shitty race at Abu Dhabi. Also, extremely important win for Verstappen, to lead him into #1 in the championship. And we got some classic Hamilton salt which never gets old.

I think a lot of drivers can be happy with their results. Sainz, Norris, Perez, Vettel, Gasly, all of them got great results.

Especially a good weekend for Perez who got up to 4th place, definitely will be a confidence boost to him.

Good call whoever of you is Newey Faggous for getting Verstappen as mega-driver this weekend.

It was a bold move, but he got past without the cars touching each other or Mazepin hitting the barriers, given that Mick has been consistently faster than Mazepin in every race and qualifying (and most training sessions iirc), I can't blame him for overtaking a guy who he can be sure will slow him down otherwise. I wouldn't know why you call it disrespectful, it was a clean move and even though it doesn't happen often, there are overtakes in that corner every now and then.

Here's Leclerc doing the same to Norris in 2019:
And if you go back to the lap 1 footage in the same video, you'll see a lot more attempts to overtake with Kimi bumping into Stroll and cars going all over the place.

Mick's car suffered some sort of mechanical issue, most likely something involving fuel pressure, which slowed him down. Before that happened, he was consistently increasing his lead on Mazepin and it seems the power issue could be mitigated, so Mick ultimately closed the gap to Mazepin again.

That would be @New Fag changing the name a bit for the fantasy league for obvious reasons. Well done mate.

It was a nice touch Charles going to congratulate Seinz after the P2. I doubt many drivers would have the class to have that huge a kick in the pants at a GP then still go and congratulate their team mate on their podium.

And here I thought I couldn't dislike this overrated piece of shit any more.
"We lost a lot of points today - really really poor performance from the team".

Dude has one bad race where P1 isn't handed over to him on a platter and his reaction? Blame the team. Class act.
Last time I checked, "the team" wasn't putting the car on a P7 qualifying lap. I really hope if he sticks around for '22, that Mercedes ridiculous dominance will be utterly smashed and Lewlew will be handed down to the midfield in every race. This faggot is simply not capable of eating the humble pie gracefully. I bet if he had the tiniest bit of hardship, he'd instantly yell oppression or discrimination for some stupid reason.

Edit:
nutting hard.png
Took a screenshot of the botched Bottas pitstop, you could see in the footage that there was metal debris flying all over the place when they tried to loosen the nut, in the photo you can see, the wedges on the nut are all sheared off by the tool (dunno what the tool's it called in English tbh).
So, either the nut wasn't properly hardened or the guy was too quick at hitting the power button on the tool and pushed it down on the nut as it was spinning.

They said cross threaded. Those air guns are so ridiculously powerful that if the nut doesn't turn when you hit it then us usually end up with a rounded piece of metal. I've had to drill/crack many a nut that has seized on and rounded off when hit with air tool power. That hub will be a complete write off too.

I saw Lewis blaming the team. The commentators were doing the same as well, pretending that his grid spot was the best he could do with that car (while ignoring Bottas' performance). As I said at the time all his wins are his absolute genius while all the failures are on Mercades.

I've seen comments claiming that the nut was stuck due to Bottas brushing a barrier. Would be interesting to learn what happened, if it was the nut, the barrier or a mechanic goofing up, but one thing's for certain: Bottas' season is atrocious so far. 2 DNFs in 5 races. Norris has a better shot at challenging Hamilton for the title atm.

At this rate, I would not be surprised if he was replaced come next season - even though I can hardly imagine Russel driving alongside Hamilton, Mercedes doesn't want a repeat of the Rosberg situation.

This is the same pit crew that managed to completely fuck up George's pit stop at Sakhir last year. And people wonder how/why conspiracy theories start...

TBH I didn't watch because I figured the race would be as boring as batshit. Seeing Hambone at 7th makes me nearly as happy as seeing Carlos and Lando on the podium. The only things that would've pleased me more is seeing Bottas get a fair go and seeing Stroll finish ahead of Hambone.

Max Mosley has just died.

LOL at BBC writing Mr Senna

1621881251587.png

"Roland had been forgotten. So, I went to his funeral because everyone went to Senna's. I thought it was important that somebody went to his." -Mosley.

"There was always a certain amount of trouble [being the son of Sir Oswald] until I came into motor racing. And in one of the first races I ever took part in there was a list of people when they put the practice times [...] and I heard somebody say, 'Mosley, Max Mosley, he must be some relation of Alf Mos[e]ley, the coachbuilder.' And I thought to myself, 'I've found a world where they don't know about Oswald Mosley.' And it has always been a bit like that in motor racing: nobody gives a damn." -Mosley, again.

Oh and the usual suspects are out...
