Mclaren and Alpha Tauri cars have been revealed.

Much of the same for Mclaren:

The Alpha has changed a bit since last season

I like the new paint job there, F1 always needs more colour and while it's not bright it's better than just painting it white and calling it a day.

I'm most looking forward to see what Aston have done with their car as some of the early concept art looked great. I just hope they haven't dulled it down since then. Say what you want about that pink paint job for racing point at least it stood out.
Hope they'll go for a nice "pine needle" dark green or something. Hopefully not neon-green or anything garish as that.
And I agree, pink might be a weird color, but it did stand out and once you got used to it, it was actually kinda nice.

Wonder what Mercedes will look like, didn't they plan to go back to their iconic silver paintjob?
With Ferrari, I really don't care what the car will look like, I wonder if their engine will be worth a damn... their big idea was to scale down some engine parts to make them lighter, I'm going to laugh my ass off if their engine becomes unreliable as a result and they enter the engien freeze like that.

They're carrying on with the race grift true and honest diversity colours.

I mean as far as colour goes we can probably all predict it pretty well.

I believe they are allowed to make changes for reliability and increasing the amount of biofuels used so they'll probably be OK. I'm wondering if they've just gone fuck it and smashed the compression and pressure right up to throw in more ethanol while getting the power gains. If I could reliably get ahold of E85 I would do that to my track car.

New drive to survive series release date announced, now let's hope it hasn't gone too far up its ass smelling the race grift farts.

Now that would be rather sexy... though I wouldn't mind if they avoided the color black entirely. So many teams use a color with black for the contrast and it does look fetching and badass, but it's a bit overused. I think it might look decent with a lighter highlight color, maybe even some off-white like bone. Or just go for an all green paintjob. Not as nifty, but it's Aston Martin, so going for a bit of a classic design might be cool. Like putting the car's number in black amidst a white circle like in the old days.

Some classic old-timey retro design might actually be pretty cool, especially for a brand like Aston Martin.

Let's hope so. Afaik, Ferrari didn't want to waste tokens for engine changes last season (or weren't allowed to use them) and ended up being forced to use a completely atrociously underpowered engine due to their fuel-hacks being forbidden... I just wonder: Will they really go all out on this year's engine? With 2022's rules, it might be smarter to just deal with the lackluster engine, improve that in some areas that the 2022 engine will profit from and instead channel all other resources into making the 2022 engine as powerful as possible...

I haven't followed F1 since I got interested in dirtier & more insane motorsports.

But when I was a kid, I was all about McLaren cars; and followed Niki Lauda's seasons closely in the newspaper (F1 was rarely on broadcast TV unless it was Detroit), until he won his last championship.

Afterwards a few drivers I liked migrated to WRC (and I could watch that on a station in Windsor sometimes), and NASCAR got boring fast, especially in the 80s-90s, so I've watched WRC/etc ever since.

Nice livery. I liked last year's more but this one is still very nice. I wish they had went with black instead of dark blue, the contrast was what I liked about last year's design.

Also, I actually like the new Mercedes livery better even though it's due to bullshit political virtue signaling. The silver livery always looked bland compared to the red bull or ferrari to me.

I just like the silver livery for its history. I don't even know if its true or not, but "according to legend", back in the early days of racing, Mercedes put together a car that was pretty good, but slightly overweight, so in order to save on weight, they sandblasted away the paintjob and raced with raw, unpainted aluminum bodywork...
Whether it's true or not, it does make for a nice story and the silver look has become as iconic as Ferrari red.

And speaking of which:

The 1000th GP anniversary paintjob in dark red, man. Now I wouldn't mind that to become the new look of this team.

Here is a neat animation I came across of Grosjean's Bahrain crash:

I wonder how much attention drive to survive will pay to that crash. It was the defining event of the season but equally its in poor taste to milk it. I suppose probably more around the reaction to the even like with Hubert but it will still be interesting to see.

Once more: Thank god there was nothing blocking the way out of the cockpit. In that animation, you can really see, how different things could have gone.
It is said that for everything to go as planned, a million things have to work as intended, while for something to go horribly wrong, just one thing has to fail.
Here we have a million things happening in just the right way to allow Grosjean to get out of one of the worst F1 crashes since Bianchi with very, very mild injuries.

It's the perfect feel good story, especially when they bring up Bianchi, possibly even Hubert.
We have a terrible spectacular accident, that looks even worse since it was a night-race (so the huge ball of flame looks even worse) but the driver made it out okay - and you can tie that in with Bianchi, sort of as a memorial that his death was not in vain...
Drive to Survive will milk it, but let's hope they'll do so in a manner that's at least somewhat classy.

Any thoughts on the new Alfa Romeo?
A brighter design, that uses more white... looks neat. I liked their livery last year, but the new look is nice too. It's definetely nice to see some teams going for brighter colors, that's for sure.

Real drama will always bring more eyeballs in. Considering how hard F1 has been chasing the US market forever, they will gladly milk it as long as it means that normal people become interested in F1.

Interesting, if true, that Ferrari were restricted more then other teams. If so we can expect a bit of a resurgence this season with the new engine.

Well Stroll sr is both delusional and already giving Vettel reason to start looking elsewhere.

Yeah, I bet Hamilton can't wait to finally leave Mercedes to race for another team.
I'd be surprised if Hamilton stuck around in F1 if he couldn't drive any longer for Mercedes or if Mercedes stopped being so hilariously and overwhelmingly dominant.

They'd do us all a favor if they stopped pretending there is much competition about who's going to end up on top and instead focused on the rest of the field. This season, we had some great midfield racing, but we barely heard about that, cause everyone was too busy sucking Lewis' wang.

Fuck, I can't wait for a time when Mercedes stops being so dominant. It is slowly killing the sport and I am counting on Hamilton to introduce some woketard bullshit corporate politics, that'll achieve that.
