Still working my way through the F1 tv archives. Just watched the 1981 Caesars Palace Grand Prix...

When you are lucky to still have both legs.

The parking lot track has more charm than I expected.

Spanish Twitter is saying the FIA might pull Aston Martin for the engine vibrations creating a health and safety issue. Being an AM fan fucking sucks.

sick and tired of aston martin fans complaining when you've two of the best drivers on the grid and poached some of the most experienced and successful staff to work in f1 over the last 20 years.
boo hoo car no work good. at least you've got lance stroll!

Oh, my bad. I'm kind of new to this.

Hooray! Aston Martin has the worst car on the grid!

It would be hilarious for the one Honda powered team to be excluded from the race at Honda's own track.
This might be cost prohibitive and technically unfeasible, but I would love to see Redbull and Aston Martin get together and have Honda supply PU's to Racing Bulls(at no cost) and Aston Martin get supplied with the RBPT PU for maybe a 2 or 3 year period(at a cost).

That gives Redbull extra money by supplying Aston Martin and gives Honda a few years to work out their issues, without crippling what could otherwise be a leading team.

They must be in crisis mode. Wonder how much Daddy Warbucks offered to buy the dude they poached? Crazy though!

Newey to step down as Aston Martin F1 team principal, Wheatley set to join from Audi

Adrian Newey is set to step down from his team principal position at the Aston Martin Formula 1 team, where he’ll be replaced by current Audi team boss Jonathan Wheatley.

Autosport understands Newey will step down in order to focus exclusively on technical matters, as Aston Martin has experienced a more than underwhelming start to the 2026 F1 season. Power unit trouble with new partner Honda means the Newey-designed AMR26 currently can’t complete a whole race.

Wheatley has been working at Audi since last May alongside CEO Mattia Binotto but will therefore return to England after just 10 months. The timing of the move depends on his Audi contract.

Aston Martin’s Silverstone campus is located just 20 miles away from Red Bull’s F1 headquarters, where Wheatley spent 20 years of his career.

This opportunity is attractive as Wheatley is set to join at an extremely tricky time for Aston Martin – it can’t really get any worse. At Audi, enjoyed a certain degree of autonomy, reporting directly to the board, but coexisting with Binotto meant he did not have the same leeway as normally afforded by the team principal role.

Wheatley may have been endorsed – if not suggested to owner Lawrence Stroll – by Newey himself, as they spent those two decades together at Red Bull.

Newey’s promotion to the team principal role was announced just four months ago and was effective in 2026 only, so it was short-lived; the current crisis only made it harder.

Now, what will Audi’s strategy be: searching for a new team principal, or restructuring the squad internally and/or promoting from within?

Why do people get their dicks so hard over Steiner? Had a couple of mildly funny moments in the gay show for casuals and retards then got fired from Haas who only got better as a result.

Actually funny team principle is rare enough. And I think the latter is mostly that at the time nobody expected Steiner was the problem there. And it's not like people go 'man they got SO MUCH BETTER'.

must suck being so eternally bitter about everything. the guy was fun, as was horner - god forbird there's some people in the pitlane that'll inject some humour and conflict into this polished media-friendly shitshow we get served to us now.

lighten up a little, you'll live longer.

Newey struck me as an odd choice for team principal; his talent misplaced and spread thinly across a leadership role to which he seemed ill-suited.

The thing that newbs fail to grasp is that Lance Stroll has been sandbagging his entire career. When the time is right, and only then, he will execute one prefect lap of the Valencia street circuit, that will reveal it as the most exciting track in the history of the sport. Afterwards he will park his car, drop the mic that he carries around with him at all times, and disappear from public life. The word 'stroll' will be formally redefined to mean 'travelling at high speed with great skill'.
