The problem is F1 went corporate. Bernie sold the show to corporate America, then went seeking corporate teams and bowing to their demands.

"MGU-H too hard, please remove and who cares about the racing", fuck off and get good you fucking krauts, this shit is what is getting you eaten alive by Chinese manufacturers.

The "road car relevant" tech is such a nothing excuse too. No one set out to make things that would be great for production cars, they made the best bits they could for racing and then realised they could be translated. Using F1 as a deliberate production car technology development programme is just ridiculous. Set up an R&D department. It will be less embarrassing than you failing to even start races.

This shit is just destroying the sport for no good reason. When you have BYD expressing an interest in entering the sport as a manufacturer you know you fucked up. Stop turning cars into white goods.

The best way to do this would be to have the 1.6 liter turbocharged, but allow for two turbos / twin-charging, with maximum boost of 5 BAR; paired with a NA spec where you can have any engine you want as long as it's around 4 liters of displacement and 20k redline. Also, fuel's maximum octane rating should be 95 RON.
I'd say take the 1.6 V6 they have now, stretch the cylinders to 300 cc's and make 'm 2.4 V8's or a three liter V10.

Fuck turbo's, gimme screaming V10's.

Edit: Also, if I can get 100+ RON VPower Racing fuel at any normal gas station in Germany, F1 can run that shiz as well.

It's this and the political pressure from eurocrats who want these sports to support technical development they want to roll out into the greater automotive world.
the green euro suicide cult is spearheaded by germans and german autism is the reason why german manufacturers enthusiastically toe the line. mercedes ruined the fucking sport and now vw/audi is also sticking its dick into the corpse when they cant even sell their shitty ev road cars

f1 could really use some good old fashioned american motorsport pride but america has indycar and little reason to give a fuck about some kraut loving sand niggers wet dreams of merging formula 1 with formula e. im glad caddy is at least trying but unlikely they will have any major influence on the evolution of the regs in the foreseeable future
reminder that the gay v6 era is already one of the longest lasting generations in the sports history and it just continues to devolve into more and more of a shitfest

That wind seems to be changing as well.

Last week a massive asylumseeker-deal with return hubs in Africa has been pushed through. Just not the centrist deal with return hubs touted by the head negotiator, but the right wing ECR/Patriots-coalition version got pushed through.

Which means for the first time in a long time, the European Parliament actually didn't go for the center deal, but the more right wing one, which aligns more with the governmental leaders of the EU member states, so the trilats (trilateral talks) and discussion with the Council (the ministers/secretaries of the member states) should thus "be easier than normal, as for once the Parliament and the Council don't differ that much in their stance"

Edit: "The era of deportations has begon" (Charlie Weimers, Swedish MEP on X) | Nitter

I think this is Haas' best start to a season ever since the team first raced in 2016, 17 whole points in the bag in 2 races, more than fucking Red Bull and just 1 less than McLaren.

I still think this is dumb luck caused by Red Bull and McLaren constantly shitting themselves, but I'm huffing some pure HOPIUM right now that the rightful #1 American team (which is actually 33% American, 33% Italian, and 33% Japanese) will get it right this season and finally be an upper midfield team.

Bearman has been looking really consistent. If the car doesn't fail him, he can easily end up 6th-8th in the driver rankings and pick up a few podiums. Depending on what Hamilton wants to do, he might be riding Ferrari sooner than later. Everyone's reliability is so in the toilet right now that speculation seems more pointless than normal. What were the odds of the safety car having more laps than Piastri by Suzuka?

I am still mixed on what I am seeing.

One thing I have not heard mentioned at all so far is driving to deltas or pacing the stint to preserve the tires. AM I just not hearing them talk about that, or is that now a thing of the past?

Another thought I have had while watching the "battles" is that it won't take much for a collision to happen. So, we could see a few of those affecting the leaders which could spring a surprise 1st time podium or even with greater luck a winner. With the seeming DNS/DNF potential, along with a collision it could happen. I never thought Gasly or Ocon would win a race. Shit happens. We have good setups for it to happen again.

Also, I wonder how rain will change the way they have to drive? For anyone who has the technical grasp of it all, would rain make it harder to charge the battery? Or easier? I assume the active aero will be disabled if it rains?

It is definitely "exciting" during the initial laps, so I am torn as while I get its not flat out racing, the racing/passing has been nice to see. Its better than last year in that way as once a DRS pass was made, it was usually done and dusted. And if they are no longer doing tire management, that only is an improvement.

Its different and I was not expecting it to be like this. If Merc wasn't a half second ahead, it'd be really tight. Let's hope the other teams close up some.

Hamilton on his tippy toes for photos. Who the fuck does that? Lol.

I don't see this lasting forever. I imagine every team excluding Ferrari and Aston are looking at ways to make turbo spool-up more predictable. The only reason it looks cool now is because of the odd dynamic between the first 2 rows where Mercedes is fast as fuck at the front and Ferrari is so much better at starting than Mercedes that it looks competitive for a few laps. If the Ferraris were qualifying 11th and 12th, nobody would care about their starts. Alonso is jumping 7+ places on start and nobody cares because he doesn't have the pace to make anything of it. It's clear that even the best drivers can't defend in these cars for more than a few laps, so getting out ahead early doesn't even seem to be an advantage anyways. Maybe it will pay off in Monaco where Mercedes might not be able to pass again after the start, but any other track, Merc is getting by, and that's assuming McClaren don't catch up to Ferrari once they can figure out their electricals.

His channel is very good and certainly tell he's an older fan with a focus on F1 history.
These days I spend a great deal more time watching vids on racing history than I do following any contemporary series. I think I'll spend this F1 season checking the results after the fact rather than go out of my way to watch the race unless it's one of the rare races that happens to air on Sunday afternoon US time.
