Okay, I’m throwing my hat in for this already. Watching the battery deplete on screen and then the car goes drrrrrr with a static speed until the next lift and coast made my soul leave my body.

Why should the drivers have to play battery charge instead of focusing on the most distance in as little time as possible against physics? This fucking sucks.

“Mercedes have mastered knowing how to optimise battery usage” ok i want to see them mastering “go fast as possible entire time”.

This is gay, it’s aids, I did not enjoy this. Also I tried to send a screenshot of the times to a friend and the F1TV app just blacked out the entire thing. Fuck off.

Grats for Gasly in tractor for qualifying, though.

They edited the driver press conference from the start of the weekend to remove when Max was talking about the video game mess they've made of the sport. I don't recall any other time that the replay of the press conference has had bits removed.

They have also been deleting comments left right and centre on their official social media accounts that are critical of the new rules.

There are allegations of them faking onscreen data too.

The screen at the bottom is on throttle, while the top is on full brake and charge. Both show the same speeds which is unlikely when the car is in full charge mode.

This isn't definitive as someone could just be finding shots from different pa4ta of the track or when he just starts braking from a higher speed, but it doesn't look good that these allegations are springing from it and I wouldn't put it past them to screw the telemetry.

Also while I'm at it, I want my milliseconds back, not just tenths.

Well, guess that's what you get when you put a guy from the Middle East in charge (not that Ecclestone would be any better)

Makes me wish that the April races don't happen and the teams can play catch up (as far as the budget allows it)

Eccleston would definitely have been better. He ran the sport with an iron fist and wouldn't have cucked to Audi coming along and saying "screw up the entire thing and we'll join".

No they only give a fuck about what manufacturers are in the sport not about the quality of the racing.

F1 tech becoming relevant to road cars wasn't due to some gay rules but by development races and then manufacturers saying "hey this'll work well on our road cars".

When was the last time new regulations sucked this much?

The only example I can think of is the introduction of the pirelli tyres that lasted about half a lap. At least they sorted that over time, even if they keep trying retarded things with compounds to try and force strategies.

I love how Max wins in the PR game. Either everyone listens to him (which they God damn should; I don't think F1 can at the moment bear the loss of him if he just walks off), or they shut him up and he doesn't have to do press anymore, which he absolutely hates.

At the end of last year, I kind of just wanted him to put up or shut up with the retirement talk. Now I want him around for the full season finding every possible way to talk shit.

Well my standard "anyone but a brit" is going to be interesting this year given the best two cars so far each have a brit in them. So lets hope for a kimi resurgence and/or a lewlew proving he's washed some more.

I'd be shocked if Hamilton beats LeClerc over a whole season, even allowing for this year's Ferrari being more to Hamilton's liking than last year's.

Sadly I can't see any way that Russell doesn't become WDC this year, that Mercedes is a rocketship the likes of which we haven't seen since the days of Hamilton and Rosberg.

Not so sure about that considering how he spun in the Free Practice. These cars seem like a handful. He certainly seems better then last year but last year it looked the same at this point and we all know how that ended. Makes me wonder what happened tro Lerclerc as he was way faste in SQ2 and in SQ3 he suddenly fell off (only 1 tenth faster then on Mediums)

And an interesting sidenote: I found old articles (really old) that talked about the rule changes in 1961: in that year they introduced a new engine formula (which had been known for years btw) and also car regulation. 1.5 litres natural aspirated or 0.75 turbocharged. Plus the cars now had to have a roll bar to offer more safety to the drivers. some journalists wrote "This is not racing, we want big cars with big engines because that is the pinnacle of racing not these small cars with this ridiculous roll bar". In the premiere season Ferrari dominated as the others had failed to build fitting engines but that quickly changed and the cars stayed the same (though a few years later 3 litre engines came back and it went from there) So I have still a bit of hope that these issues will sort themself out over time though I'd rather wish we still had the old engines or maybe go back to natural aspirated but with "eco fuel". Heck in the early years F1 actually ran on alcohol based fuels not ordinary gasoline

The Middle East loves oil. These dumbass rules are entirely due to European Greens.
