McLaren is fucked, third fastest car on the grid right now
I think McLaren might be 4th fastest

Mercedes in front by a decent margin
Ferrari 2nd fastest by a few tenths on the Redbull
Redbull a smidge faster than McLaren, but it could be track dependent.

Unfortunately, even after only 1 race, it is looking like Russell will be the WDC this year.

I expect the new engine testing procedure from Round 7 to slow down Mercedes as much as the new flexi-wing tests did last year to McLaren. i.e. not at all.

I don't know if Aston Martin can get out of their Honda deal for 2027, but I wonder if Redbull would be interested in selling them the RBPT engine, as Redbull may gain useful technical information from another team outside the Redbull family using the engine and it would allow them to compare their chassis to the Aston Martin Newey designed chassis in 2027.

Fucking Carols Sainz who is a little above average driver without a GP victory
Sainz won several races. And some (like singapore 2023) because HE dictated the strategy while also doing the tactical work on track. Im ho Hamilton is way too dependend on his engineer and strategy team.. and in defense of Ferrari: those tyre are new. None of the teams know yet how long they might hold. And since only Merc did any meaningful longruns it seems they knew how far they can be pushed

I was underwhelmed, and I wasn't even entertained in the first 10 laps because it was clear the overtakes were the result of cars losing energy rather than bold and skilled driving moves. People discussing whether Ferrari blew it or not are mistaken IMO, they would've lost against the Mercs anyway, it was clear they had plenty on reserve and didn't even push the cars as hard as they could. The season's going to suck, but lets see if the spectacle improves on tracks with more turns and fewer straights.

Watched hadjar’s start he cooked Antonelli and bullied Lewis off, but holy fuck his Australian GP luck is horrific
I think him and Linblad are gonna be the future of RBR

i say this a max fan id be surprised if he’s still in F1 after this year. He seems genuinely hate the new regs lol

With nearly a third of the cars dropping it, it's like the 1980's all over again.

Not gonna lie, the unreliability factor is scratching an itch for me. You are seeing one engine supplier having the issues, but all of them. I like that.

Antonelli impressed me, though not as much as the Mercedes mechanics, getting that car through qualifying. The Silver Arrows look words ahead of other times right now, but give it five races and we will see how many both their drivers finish.

It was a strange but good feeling to finally see someone other than Max, getting some good pace out of the Redbull. Hadjar looks handy.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see Linblad live up to the hype, he was also great.

Surely this will be Lawson's last year at Racing Bulls, unless Linblad's Aust GP performance proves to be just a flash in the pan?

What the fuck happened to Williams?
Mercedes power and they were the first to stop developing the 2025 car back in May, with only computer simulated upgrades from now on, to maximize their 2026 car development budget and wind testing allowance.
Now it's a slow overweight unreliable car like their Latifi mobile of 21.

Eh Antonelli wasn’t good. He’s just in a faster car than everyone else right now. If hadjar’s car hasn’t crapped and if Piastri car didn’t rage quit I think he would have gotten gobbled up for that podium

Plus how he didn’t get a penalty is laughable

hey, twats, remember - its just first race in new regs. Any update to the car might be huge, dont get too exited for merc or ferrari.
More like:
Mercedes knows that the regs favor them because of the technological constraints are within their engineering knowledge, so Toto is going to raise mercedes value by a petronillion dollars while everyone else tries to figure out the most retarded engine system ever conceived for F1

Racing isn't about racing, its about cheating. Alonso was right about equal engines in that comment. The concept that F1 is more determined by who builds the best car through political/factory rule-bending instead of just giving a bunch of great drivers the same specs so they can tune them and letting us see who drives the new cars the best is ridiculous to me. Is F1 about racing cars or is it about who can react to made up regulations that change every couple of cycles?

part of me hopes the AMR fans and their crazy talk actually comes true lol. Can you imagine in 27 Stroll or whoever potentially replaces alonso if he decides to retire gapping guys like Russell and Norris by 8 seconds
Honestly, it's not a disaster in the level of the FW-16, which killed the greatest driver of all time, and that killing machine later on delivered a guy in his mid 30s to 2nd place in the championship against a ilegal car only because Schumacher punted him off like a bitch to win.

I'd say it's closer to the unraced mp 18, but that proved completely unfixable.
They fix the battery and the vibration issues, and it will be a solid best of rest at least.
I mean Fernando nearly drove to Q2 already and managed to hold onto 10-15th for a significant amount of time, a car that everyone and their grandma claimed it would be retired after the first lap for being so fucking unsafe it would cause them permanent nerve damage.

Papa Stroll and the Arabs threw billions into the team and hired everyone they could from redbull and Mercedes.

It's legit impossible to have a disaster for the entire season with a unlimited blank cheque and everyone from the guy who built the Mercedes engine team to the redbull designer on the project.
