To be fair Schumacher also made Ferrari "less Italian" when he helped bringing in Ross Brawn, Rory Byrne and others. Of course if we think in todayÄs DEI terms this will become a shitshow par excellence and Hamilton will directly suffer from it
Schumacher seasoned Ferrari with expertise. Any diversity was incidental. Hamilton, who is at his best when the team builds a car around him and avoids allowing him too much input, is very likely going to dig a great big grave-shaped hole underneath Ferrari by putting DEI before competence. I hear some of the 'inspirational engineers' who worked on the Titan submersible are looking for work.

Unless he wins them a championship, he'll find out how little of a shit people like the Tifosi or your average Italian gives a fuck about his woke Messiah crap. Italians aren't nearly as whipped as Brits.

Also, he's making it sound like he was brought in as a token black to try and sell some Ferraris to the brothers. Maybe they'll release one with bullet proof windows and a gunslot for drive bys soon.

And sorted. Independent investigation by barrister says he's in the clear (not stopped the usual lot going "red bull covered it up" and/or "believe muh wamen").

I always assumed there was some "evidence" like texts or a dick pic and he was going to be cooked, but am not surprised that he is still in.

He has a lot of money and power so he could still be guilty, just bought his way out of it.

The aggrieved needs to go public with proof if she really was subject to harassment, but for one reason or another that isn't going to happen I am sure.

Tomorrow it all kicks off with practice, Friday Q and Saturday race. I think next race is also on a Saturday. So for me, the race is 11AM Saturday morning, for once a nice reasonable start to watch the F1 season. The best odds I could find for a Max win was -286, so a rack to win $350.

Wo do we think will be out in Q1? Both Haas seem a sure bet, perhaps both Alpines? If so who will be the 5th driver out? Sargent, Bottas, GI Joe? Or someone else?

The merc looks absolutely horrible to handle. But then little lewlew can't complain because they made a big thing about how they listened to him for the design changes after he bitched all last season about them not doing what he told them to do.

Red Bull reliability issue for Checo.

Fantasy F1 is live again, league link below.

So... can someone explain to me what was so forbidden about this link that I had to make an account? Null pls.

...it is quite amusing that a fantasy league made me FINALLY make an account, when I was lurking the forums for YEARS.

But I'm glad that I can join you again, cheers

They got an independent firm to do the investigation, it was lead by a barrister and included an 8 hour interview of Horner, I doubt he could buy or power move his way out if he did it.

All the stories about there being pictures and one about him offering the "victim" money to withdraw all came from one, generally considered unreliable, source in F1 media. (ETA plus he's already suggested he would be taking legal action against that source once he was cleared, so let's see).

I doubt Red Bull would bury this if the supposed victim had any actual evidence or it would be printed in the media by now and their credibility would be in tatters.

I put it that way because there are plenty of very sad people who would go right over to the F1 fantasy site and go on a crusade (and probably succeed with the current state of F1) to get the private league banned simply because it's linked to here.

Yes, they can still do that by making an account but it's at least an extra step/hoop to jump through.

Is that the Dutch source who broke this (non-)story? If so, that'd add weight to the theory that Jos Verstappen tried to get Horner stitched up.

I never actually saw anyone officially suggesting Horner got his dick out or something. I believe the actual complaint was never brought out, the internet just obviously took it to being sexual. It's just as possible he was a bit of a hardass and somebody got sad or just thought she could get rich because he called her a dumb cunt.

There were calls for transparency, and there could be an appeal, so maybe we'll find out more. But tbh once due process has been done I care about Horner's sins about as much as I care about Lewis' sainthood, useless drama.

Yup, the original news, plus all the updates were all first published in De Telegraaf, all were authored by Erik van Haren.

They're well known for being a dubious source, at least when it comes to F1.

It's another example of news media failing to do the slightest verification of what someone else posts before posting it themselves.

Horner has already implied he'll be suing them. Since Erik reported having been sent all the messages and paper trail by the "victim" there's no way Horner would risk them becoming public record in the courts so if he does go for it you know they're full of bull shit and probably in trouble.

De Telegraaf certainly did report it was sexual, that they had the messages, and they had Horner offering to pay her off.

The gravity of sexual misconduct allegations surrounding Red Bull team principal Christian Horner seems to have deepened after recent reports suggest the 50-year-old and his lawyers offered a six-figure sum to settle the matter.

The latest report by Dutch media outlet De Telegraaf states that a female employee approached the Red Bull hierarchy and accused the team principal of sexually transgressive behavior in December 2023.

After the employee shared the text messages with the management, the Austrian company hired an external lawyer to investigate the matter. De Telegraaf has obtained the messages and states that the team principal sent sexually oriented messages regularly over a considerable period of time.

It further reported that the Red Bull team principal tried to keep the accusations hidden from the public, with his lawyers allegedly offering a £650,000 ($816,510) settlement to the female employee.

Dutch F1 reporter Erik Van Haren wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"Team boss Christian Horner of Red Bull Racing is accused of sexual misconduct, according to reports and documents...On February 3, lawyers for Brit (50) offered the reporter to settle for £650,000." (Translated from Dutch)
