Ericsson is also not having a good race and is probably going to lose his championship lead. When you're getting passed by fucking DeFrancesco you deserve it.
For some reason, the Daytona 500 and Indy 500 have increasingly attracted winners who don't really do that well in the actual season, especially since the '90s.
Eddie Cheever, Arie Luyendyk, Buddy Rice, Ward Burton, Trevor Bayne and Austin Dillon are all drivers who impressed heavily during their respective victory, but then simply failed to match it during the rest of the seasons in which they partook.

Meanwhile we have Mario Andretti and Dale Earnhardt who struggled during those races and only ever won once.

Crashes and retribution on the driveway are interesting, which is what I'll say.

That's a colossal fuckup from Pirelli. I have no clue how many tyres they usually go through in that race, but I guess 1 set/hour is a bit excessive.
Not a good ad for Pirelli tbh.
i found some facts on the official site
As sole tyre supplier to a field of 66 cars, the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa is a huge undertaking for Pirelli. The Italian company produces up to 17,000 tyres for the race, sending around 35 trucks and a huge army of support staff to the Ardennes.

They provide each car with a maximum of 30 sets of dry tyres, which must be used from free practice onwards. Two sets from the official test day can be carried over as part of the 30-set allocation, while an additional set is authorised for the cars taking part in Super Pole. These can’t be used during the race, so there's no excuse not to push them to the absolute limit.

The maximum length of any stint is 65 minutes, except if a full-course yellow or safety car period is in operation when the stint finishes. In this case, an additional five minutes is permitted to allow the car to get back to the pit lane at a slower pace.

A driver may only complete three full stints in a row. After this, he or she must rest for at least one hour. The maximum driving time permitted over the full race is 14 hours.

Don't quote me because I'm a bit fucked up right now, and endurance racing is difficult to keep up with all the rules across different series, but depending on the situation or strategy, it's not uncommon to double or even triple stint a single set of tyres. Also, I'm not sure if it's allowed or not in this series, but it's normal not to change all 4 tyres every stop but to switch the side that does the hard work.

Admittedly, that is a rather herculean task to be the sole tyre supplier for such an event... though having many tyres blow out in under one hour is rather bad for their image.

indeed a tall order for any company, and Pirelli does have a habit of complaints from fans and drivers across F1, WRC, and GT, plus other series, I am sure. And out of the 66 starters, 6 have retired, and I believe none are a result of an unexpected lack of air in the tyres. Plus, for any Rossi fans here, he's just gotten in the car currently p11 now at Spa in the dark what's not to like?

Well...it looks like McLaren and Liberty Media's dreams of having an American running the storied parking lots of Las Vegas is going to have to wait another year or so. Colton Herta out at Indy after running over a curb and apparently blowing up his drive train or gearbox (?)

He's had a Ferrari-tier year across the pond. Fast car screwed by every type of bad luck imaginable.

That shit was actually funny in person. Crew chief asked "Doesn't do anything even if you give it throttle?" and even before he finished saying it Colton's bouncing it off the limiter in pit lane.

Eau Rouge looking epic and err its formula 1 related because felipe nasr is 3rd

Looking good for an interesting GP. Extremely strong winds causing lots of issues on just their sighter laps and rain in that direction meaning it should hit the track at some point.

Edit: Aaaand it's raining before they even start.

It's almost time to witness Ferrari's self sabotage #234785 It would be great if Alpine and possibly sauber romeo pushed up, but sauber, like Ferrari, indulges in expert strategy calls.

Aston stroller No pressure. I had more faith in the GT branch at Spa, but the way things have turned out, a top 10 finish is rather optimistic. So if you wouldn't mind performing a few miracles please? Thank you.

There's a chance for some decent Ferrari/Red Bull battles here. Good start by Russell.

Well i stand corrected russell struggles while the GFerraris go just fine. and Lewis can't seem to keep up despite getting past Norris

Ferrari switched due to a bad stop and a good stop. But Leclerc is really close to russell isn't he? Really a hard driver if he needs to be.

Nor Leclerc needs to build a distance as he has to pit again and this might be a disadvahtage as he can only go soft (hard seems to be bad this time)
