As gimmicky and painful to watch as NASCAR can be, it warms my clogged, strained fat American heart to know it can always be worse.
Likewise, only in my case it's Australia and Supercars. Whilst SC is a shadow of its former self and will never be as great as it was during the V8 era from the mid '90s through early '10s, even current year SC is way better than FE will ever hope to be.

We really need to go back to how racing was in the '90s. Not necessarily what NASCAR or V8SC was doing, though. I'm thinking BTCC. The cars were only 2-litre four pots, but the drivers took no prisoners, leading to some highly entertaining racing.

We briefly had Super Touring as a support series in the US for CART. It was some good racing. And of course the main show of Late-90s CART was amazingly fucking good.

Speaking of that, I was at the Detroit GP this weekend. I wish I'd been faster with the camera, I got to see Grosjean just after he got released from medical for his qualifying crash, gunning it on his escooter. Rageface was off the fucking charts.

The best time for touring cars was when people turned up in original minis to take on the big V8s. They got decimated down the straights but could carry so much more speed in the corners so it was a constant game of overtake and defend for both.

Unfortunately as is often the case someone saw that was a popular time for the sport and they decided that setting up a series just for minis would be amazing, so they did. I haven't watched the mini racing (especially since they now use the abomination that is the BMW "mini") but it took something away from touring cars.

Like the ameritard i am, im rooting for Glickenhause in hypercar, Penske in LMP2, and Corvette in GTEpro.
In other news exactly 1 LMP2 team is not running the Oreca-07, CD Sport, they are instead running the Ligier.

Just caught up on last almost week's worth of posts, never got notifications of activity, thought thread was quiet.

Something not mentioned is the new Apple film about F1. Hamilton is a co-producer. Oh, and of course will appear in it too. And get this, Brad Pitt will be the star of the movie. As a driver. A 58 year old man will be a driver. It will be interesting to see how this movie turns out. A Frankenheimer/Grand Prix it will NOT be.

I know there were a few recent comments concerning driver lineups and if Lewis left what would he do. From all accounts I think he is focused on Hollywood/Entertainment industry. Whatever the case, as long as he is gone completely from F1, that's all that matters.

Apple confirms Brad Pitt to star as driver in new F1 film produced by Hamilton

Apple Studios has announced it has acquired the rights to a Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt and produced by Lewis Hamilton.

The film’s screenplay is being written by Ehren Kruger and the feature will be directed by Joseph Kosinski. The pair previously worked together in the same roles on Top Gun: Maverick, which is currently playing in cinemas.

Apple’s as-yet-untitled Formula 1 film will star 58-year-old Bitt as an older driver who comes out of retirement to join a rookie team mate and take on the series’ top competitors.

The film will be produced by Hamilton, Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment company (which previously created World War Z), Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman (who also worked on Top Gun: Maverick, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise).

It remains to be seen whether the film will include an appearance by seven-times F1 champion Hamilton, who has previously made cameo appearances and voice acting roles in films including Cars 2, Cars 3 and Zoolander 2, as well as hit game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Hamilton was also executive producer on the 2018 documentary film The Game Changers, about a Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor’s switch to vegan protein. The new Apple Original Films project will be his first full production credit.

Pitt has previously shown a strong interest in motorsport including waving the start flag at the 2016 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He had previously worked for several years on a biopic about the Le Mans racer and engineer Caroll Shelby, also with Kosinski, which eventually became the Matt Damon-fronted Ford vs Ferrari (aka Le Mans ’66).

Screenwriter Kruger, in addition to having worked on Top Gun: Maverick, is best known for writing three of the Transformers franchise films, the sequels Revenge Of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction.

Apple Studios is the production house for AppleTV+ original productions. It is also working with Pitt and George Clooney on another original film, as yet untitled.

If he wasn't happily married with a few children, the below cap of a tweet would be a shocking coming out. I wonder if there have ever been any F1 drivers who were (or are) gay. I know there was one or two gay drivers in NASCAR many years ago (pretty sure they weren't out as gay either). I also think there is a tranny driver somewhere currently competing.

Anyway, good on Seb to at least be real and not afraid to show support for what he believes in. Although I enjoyed his first WDC, when he started dominating I was kind of "pissed" at him similar to how I was when Schumi and Hambone seemed to always win. But now, I'd be happy if he had 8 WDCs to his name! While he was a little hotheaded in his early career at times and a bit petulant, he has matured into a fine human being I think. You could see him running for some political office in later years as he seems passionate about subjects that, if changes were made, would improve the quality of life for his fellow man.

Is it too much to ask for a Rush sort-of-sequel focused on Senna and Prost? You bet it would make a billion dollars at the box office thanks to Brazilian turnout. You can even make Senna act like an autistic faggot, we won't care about it one bit - Seeing the McLaren MP4s zooming around the tracks on IMAX will make this nation forget its woes and have a collective orgasm.

Hamilton would most definitely not date to do shot like that because while he wants to be a loud "ally" he sure as shot doesn't want to take the risk of being mistaken for a gay and be shunned by all the blacks he tries to suck up to that have a less than stellar opinion of teh gays.

Hamilton walked away from prime Nicole Scherzinger. Regardless of how annoying she is, some pieces of prime pussy you just don’t walk away from.

That immediately puts him at the ‘moderate risk’ category of being a closeted bumfucker.

How will Russell get lucky this weekend?
Regular, old-fashioned out-performance seems most likely. Funny how even when Russel ends up behind Hamilton, his strategy calls pay off and he gets ahead. Sure, gambling on a safety car still means it's sheer luck whether you get it in time or not, but making a bold gamble and having it pay off is part of the game.

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

Perhaps, but what if you could just get another piece of prime pussy?
Hamilton is a self-sustaining prime pussy.

It has long been speculated that Scherzinger makes a living as a professional beard. My hunch is that Hamilton is so deeply closeted that he makes Nick Fuentes look like Freddie Mercury. He would probably be much happier if he pushed his way through the dense thicket of blouses that his mum wore in the 1990s and lived openly as a gay man. I'm sure he wouldn't be the only one on the circuit.

If I may drag the focus away from Pride Month for a few seconds, the trickle of engine penalties is likely to become a flurry over the next few races.
