To be fair to Leclerc, normally you win in Monaco by having a perfect saturday and keeping up the pace on sunday. This def was a proper cock-up on behalf of Ferrari.

If Leclerc radio messages are anything to go by he tried to convince his team for a strategy change but it seems he either was overruled or he accepted the team's reasonings. As you said Sainz did it better in this race

I am not so sure yet. Ferrari seems to have been getting ahead with race pace again. Barcelona showed that the Ferrari can keep it's tyre alive longer now (though the burned out turbo wasn't exactly good) and LEclerc seems to be getting in his focus. And imho Baku and to an extent Canada seem to be more like Ferrari tracks with it's twisting slow corners.. But the team should deactivate theirt clwon mode to get back on the winning side.

I think the Bulls will be untouchable down the ridiculously long straight in Baku which with clown world DRS a Ferrari faster lap for pole probably wouldn't translate into a win.

Ferrari need to sort the speed defecit more than anything else, being 10+ kph slower than the bulls just means being driven around if they're within a second. With the state of modern F1 having the straights as the defacto overtaking zones makes that more important. It also means getting nuked at Monza which is something you can't have at Ferrari especially if they look strong.

Since we are about a third of the way into this season, it's gonna be a two-horse race for the constructor's and a 5 way race for the driver's.

RBR and Ferrari have shown that they both are very capable of making the fastest car for any grid and Merc seems to only be able to get Podiums by out-thinking these two or waiting for convenient retirements. Signs point to RBR being the one to take the constructor's simply because their strategists are better. Of course, Ferrari can sort their shit out but time has shown they are more than capable of spending a lot of money without getting results.

For the Driver's title, I think there's 5 drivers with a possible shot at the title and so far, it looks like it's gonna be a three-way of Max VS Perez VS Leclerc; with Max being the preferred driver of RBR and thus having the strongest shot at the title. Leclerc needs his team to sort it's shit out and himself to stop making stupid mistakes at the worst possible times but he's got the raw pace for it. Perez will only have his shot if he's allowed to race Max and that would be a problem for the team because they might end up having a 2007 McLaren situation with the title fight. Sainz has a shot but it requires a lot of things to go his way and for the team to start favoring him over Leclerc. Russell has been a 10/10 driver for Merc and his title chances are gonna come down on if the team is capable of somehow pulling a late season miracle out of their ass for one last Driver's title.

I found this race pretty good tbh. Would have been better to let them race despite the rain, risk a red flag due to a crash, but let the rain sort things out a bit... but I'm perfectly happy with what I got.

Not a whole lot of overtakes on the track, but Monaco is a war of attrition and strategy anyway. And it delivered there.

Ferrari's blunder with Leclerc was terrible, but at least it gave Perez another win and Sainz could also shine a little. Some decent driving from Sainz, some hilarious mishaps from Latifi and Stroll before the race even really started. Had me rolling.

Great save from Sainz when his rear stepped out on the pit straight, absolutely amazing save from Zhou after the tunnel into the nouvelle chicane.
Mick's crash really made me sad though.

On the plus side, another point for Vettel, it's not much, but it's honest work.
While yes Ferrari cocked it up Sainz ended up 2nd by not letting Ferrari cock it up for him. It sounds like he was a slower car away from winning too. Sometimes it is a good idea to call strategy from the car, drying track is definitely one of those times.
Sainz really deserved his 2nd place, bold decision to go straight to slicks, paid off. Like Russel recently and his call to go long and bank on a safety car.

As a bit of a fun fact: apparently, the last time a team secured both front row positions in Monaco without winning was... Ferrari in 2008. Leclerc could have made history today, but he got cucked by the prancing donkey. For shame.

Who wants a very unlikely Swiss GP?

I will be honest, that does get me kinda interested. An F1 GP, preferably on some uneven ground with lots of elevation changes, could be fucking cool.

With our kind of luck, it'll be another terrible parking-lot track designed by the blight of open wheel racing.

Red Bull give Perez new two-year deal until end of 2024

Just two days after clinching his first Monaco Grand Prix victory, Sergio Perez has more to celebrate with confirmation Red Bull are retaining him alongside Max Verstappen until the end of 2024…

The Mexican joined Red Bull last season and took one victory – in Azerbaijan – as well as four further podiums on his way to fourth in the drivers’ championship.

He’s stepped it up a gear this season, with three second-place finishes to add to his Monaco win, and that leaves him third in the standings, just 15 points adrift of leader Verstappen.

On Tuesday, Red Bull confirmed they have handed Perez a two-year contract extension, with the Mexican signing the deal in Monaco, during the race weekend.

“Since joining Oracle Red Bull Racing, Checo has done a fantastic job,” said Red Bull boss Christian Horner. “Time and again he has proved himself to not only be a magnificent team player but as his level of comfort has grown he has become a real force to be reckoned with at the sharp end of the grid.

“This year he has taken another step and the gap to World Champion Max has closed significantly, evidenced by his superb pole position in Jeddah earlier this year and by his wonderful win in Monaco just last weekend.

2022 Monaco Grand Prix: Pérez seals victory ahead of Sainz and Verstappen in rain-hit race in Monaco
“For us, holding onto his pace, race craft and experience was a no-brainer and we are delighted that Checo will continue to race for the team until 2024. In partnership with Max we believe we have a driver pairing that can bring us the biggest prizes in F1.”

Perez added: “For me, this has been an incredible week, winning the Monaco Grand Prix is a dream for any driver and then to follow that with announcing I will continue with the Team until 2024 just makes me extremely happy.

“I am so proud to be a member of this Team and I feel completely at home here now. We are working very well together and my relationship with Max, on and off the track, is definitely helping drive us forward even more.

“We have built tremendous momentum as a Team and this season is showing that, I am excited to see where that can take us all in the future.”

The 2023 and 2024 campaigns will be Perez’s 12th and 13th seasons respectively in Formula 1.

We'll get the Pyongyang Grand Prix complete with forced attendance, Kim replacing one of the drivers and winning (or else), Damon Hill telling us we can't judge them by Western standards and Hambone going "well I don't understand their politics so can't comment but the west is the real totalitarian states" before FOM would suffer another European track in their racing series.

What I never understood was why they never built a proper track in Finland for a F1 race there. They produced three world champions, and still have decent drivers appearing from there (you now remember Heikki Kovalainen) but never hosted a Grand Prix for some reason.

George is becoming the clear number one at Mercedes. I wonder if this means Hamilton will retire at the end of the season? I also saw someone saying the other day that next season, we might not have Nando, Seb, Lewis and dildo man on the grid. That's something to think about.
Those aren't exactly green despite the labeling imho
That's all it's about tho. Appearing green is better and cheaper than actually being green. Like how F1 are trying to stop fly-bys to get the CO2 off their books, but the display teams will just fly elsewheres, meaning the CO2 is still being produced.
