HAHA, brah this is Kiwi Farms, the Christchurch video is hosted here! HAHA Post up stuff like that anytime. I used to use r/motorsportstreams but that kind of is getting watched. There is a website called Sportsurge that I was using for streams last year, and that was fine for most part but odd time a stream would freeze up and I have to quickly find another. AceStreams were my old dependable for last three years, but they seem harder to find now. That OvertakeFans site I mentioned is great, and they already have a section for the race replays for 2021 and Testing is there, so I expect they are streaming them live. Find out tomorrow I guess!

But thanks for that link @Simple Moving Average I will check it out tomorrow. Share anything anytime man. And welcome to the thread, hope you join in the discussions here and there. More the merrier!

Thank you for the kind words. You will find the stream dependable but a good adblocker is recommended. Don't try and banter in the chat however, they are very sensitive. I got banned for joking that I'd like Ricciardo and Ocon to take me to DP World. Comments about Claire's juicy armpits were also not appreciated. I'd put in a smiley but can't seem to find any. Oh well

No worries, anyone who digs F1 are A1 in my book! LOL

Don't worry about the chat, as soon as I get a stream, if it has a chat window I hide it. Usually its foreign language anyway! HAHA

Yeah, sounds like your comments would put some tards panties in a knot. Good shit!

As for smilies, see pic:

I'm in the same boat, saw the 25% off and seriously considered it but like you it feels like paying (again since I already pay for sky) for limited/unknown gain.
The only way to watch it in Germany seems to be paying Sky 20 bucks a month. Fuck that shit. Luckily, I might be able to get a foreign TV station that's still broadcasting the races for free, if that doesn't work, it'll be time to sail the seven seas.

Why don't you watch a stream man? Like I have said many times in other posts, I have not paid for TV/movie services in any way shape or form for last 5 years or more. Torrents for flics, shows, music etc, work just fine and when I do want to watch something live, (which admittedly is only F1, other races or breaking news type of shit) I have always been ablke to find a free live stream.

Try Overtakefans for this afternoon session if you have a minute and see how that goes. As I said, I am using the Acestream. If you don't know about Acestream http://www.acestream.org/, it uses a mod of VLC player. You just copy the Acestream and paste it in the menu selection of Aceplayer and that's it. I am watching it in 1080p right now. For free. Same will be the case come the races unless they get seriously nuked from orbit, but they didn't at all last year so they must have a good setup as you'd think their site would easily be found by FIA/LM and shut down quick.

Up until now, I never had a reason to use a stream. It was on free TV in Germany for the past 30 years or so, but Sky bought the exclusive rights in Germany, banking on Mick Schumacher hype to sell their service... As I said, with a bit of luck, I'll be able to watch it via a different station from outside Germany, if that doesn't work, I'll fall back on streaming sites.

OH right, yes I read about that happening recently. Got ya.

But you are still paying for your cable or TV service right?? LOL I assume you aren't using antennae or rabbit ears as we called them when I was a kid and that was all we had.

Watching the OT feed now, no issues and quality is perfect.

So, just in last few minutes things I have heard (take these with the usual caveat of its only testing, teams are sandbagging etc):
Alpha Tauri and Ferrari on long runs, Gasly .5 faster on avg than Charlie
Martin Brundle says AT, McL and RB seem to be the most assured and have their shit together from his trackside view
More talk about AT looking really good on long runs, Gasly close to or better than Perez when adjusting times for tires (I'd love to see AT cop a few podiums and maybe even get a win again next year)
McLaren being talked up big time, doing funky shit with the diffuser, possibly found a loophole, here is a clip of the discussion, they later said another team said they would copy it, assuming it is not challenged and found illegal

Bottas just now coming out 55 mins in to session
And some screencaps of Ferrari and Merc details highlighted:

In case of the channel that used to broadcast F1, no. Additionally to the state-owned broadcasters, there's a couple of privately owned ones that you can watch for free, they finance themselves via the ad-breaks during movies and sport events. Their standard broadcast is free, HD technically costs extra, but that's usually bundled with Internet anyway.

Man, check out all those fins and tiny spoilers on the aero-parts. The Mercedes has weird extensions on the rear wing behind the wheels and a tiny spoiler above the gearbox.
It also seems every car has increased the size of the air-intake above the pilot's head.

Aww ickle Lewlew didn't get his own way:

Good, let's hope he psychs himself out. He's never been the strongest at keeping focussed on the racing.

Hamilton's gradual decoupling from F1 (because that is what is happening) has echoes of the lead-in to Michael Schumacher's own abrupt retirement.

There has been a great deal of speculation regarding why Schumacher left Ferrari but the smart money has always been on him being eased out of the driver's seat. I watched his rise and fall. You could sense that he had outstayed his welcome and that the mood had turned against him. I can envisage a similar departure from Mercedes in Hamilton's future; one that will be presented to the public as a mutual parting of ways. That is unless Lewis persists in the snippy, passive-aggressive remarks that have become commonplace in his interviews of late and which do him no service.

This, it would appear, is the closing arc for multiple-World Championship winners, who start acting bigger than the sport, to the extent that they become a liability. F1's immune system awakens, at which point their exodus is guaranteed.

My interest lies in whether Toto leaves Mercedes and F1 with Hamilton, or stays on, if only to prove that he can repeat Hamilton's success with another driver.

Ideally that would be Russell. Unfortunately he has become a pawn in the manoeuvring between the constructor and their star driver, as the latter attempts to nail down a legacy that would be rock solid if it wasn't for his diva-ish insecurity.

With Schumacher it took me a while to warm to him, but I did eventually and, despite his many shortcomings, I still hugely respect him as a driver and a team builder. Hamilton is someone who I was 100% behind at the beginning. He was exciting to watch. I don't think I would have been such an ardent supporter if I had known that he was going to turn into Barbara Streisand.

Regarding acestream, I used to watch F1 through them, but I just switched to sportsurge since it was quite easier, but if you still want to watch through acestrem, try to get into morningstreams.

I have to say, Alpine's livery looks really nice on the track-camera angles - easily the most beautiful car this season. That blue is a perfect eye-catcher and it accentuates the shape of the front quite nicely.
Haas, Williams and Alfa Romeo too. Some cars (like Alpha Tauri) run with white hubs in their tyres, now that just looks super slick, I love it.
The green logo on the side of the Ferrari looks bad, though, and ever since I read a comment that the darker red in the rear makes it look like it soiled itself, I can't unsee it.

The liveries overall look neat in motion though, but too many teams went with a dark front and halo, like Alpha Tauri, Aston Martin, Mercs... It seems like it'll be a pain to distinguish these cars during a start.

And man, seeing the name "Schumacher" on screen after all these years is doing things to me I didn't expect. Damn, let's just hope he'll get a decent shot at following in his father's footsteps. Would be a shame to watch him waste away in an underpowered car like Haas (well, assuming he's got talent to warrant moving on to quicker teams, that is).

If I was to be like the regular schmuck here in Canada, I'd have to watch the race on the national sports broadcaster, TSN/RDS. As such, I would then have the commercial breaks and I don't know about now with all the various digital channels one station can have now, but when I did have TV, all I would be able to watch was qualifying and race, No practice, no SkyF1 pre and post race stuff etc. I only very recently chucked a huge box of VHS tapes of F1 I recorded from about 1997-2004. Like over 100 tapes I had. No way I was going to ever be able to digitize them. Plus why bother, you can get every race from about 1978 upwards, and I have quite a number of full races from early 60s to 78. Many of these older broadcasts are RTL, with German commentary. Bunch of ORF (Austrian?) and some RAI. And of course bulk is English. Some are just the raw sounds from the 60s races. Its weird watching them. No one jabbering. Every so often I fall down the rabbit hole and watch 3 or 4 races from long ago, Pretty cool. I have a link to a torrent of it if anyone is interested in it. It has 8 seeders currently. Everything from 78-2015. Its 1.2TB in size.

So you can kinda see why when I started finding pirate streams of Sky that I found television coverage in Canada obsolete. As I said, I could pay 20 or 30 more a month and have a ton of TV stations, but my watching TV channels kind of ended 10 years ago. I download episodes of the very few shows I do watch (the DCU basically) or download movies of interest.

As for the weird shit on the Merc rear wings, I am *pretty* sure, not positive without going and watching the footage, those are just those huge air rakes that are sensors they hang on the car. The Merc was running with one on front today, so I thin k that weird wire is a sensor thing. As you can see it actually extends directly behind the rear tire so that certainly wouldn't be legal to have on the car.

One other thing of significance happened in the test today:

Afterwards they were showing a closeup while crew were examining in garage and apparently RB has a split engine cowling. Its two halves instead of the one piece you usually see when they take it off the car. I wonder if wind got in between where they meet on top? Although it looks like it starts lower on side, there was a headwind down the straight during today's session. Either way, it was fucking odd.

I saw that earlier during the stream and thought how unfortunate it is to happen so early in the season. Undoubtedly, there's a whole bunch of images being analyzed by every team now pixel by pixel. It'll be interesting to see how many teams will copycat that difuser thingy McLaren is using, too.

I'm surprised nobody made mention of it, yesterday, 13 March 2021, Murray Walker died aged 97. The voice of Formula 1 certainly, although for miserable old gits like me the voice of motorsports within the UK piecemeal - having commentated on anything and everything with an engine and a bit of competition.

'That's history. I say history because it happened in the past', Murray Walker, 10 October 1923 - 13 March 2021.

Edit: I just seen now that it was posted already, so I am a touch late - for some reason most of yesterday's posts didn't show for me when I first posted this. Sorry, but I'll leave the post anyway because of the quote.
