Isn't Albon still connected to RB somehow? If so, then the precedent is there and Lawson would be an ideal candidate to slot into Sargeant's seat.
As if Max ever had a choice. Jos is living vicariously though him, and definitely gives off helicopter parent vibes. Not as strongly as Lawrence Stroll, though.

Well I guess it's going to be watching the 7min highlights on youtube for the rest of the year for me, modern F1 is so incredibly dull, DRS making overtaking easy and unexciting, no refueling or anything else to give teams strategy options, no tyre war, everything so bulletproof and planted that nothing unexpected ever happens to mix things up a bit, snooooooore.

LONDON, March 2 (Reuters) - Red Bull risk being torn apart as a team and will 'explode' if Christian Horner stays as principal, the Daily Mail newspaper quoted the father of triple world champion Max Verstappen as saying on Saturday.
Horner, 50, was cleared last week by an independent investigation into allegations of misconduct made by a female employee.
The inquiry dominated the pre-season and Horner has remained in the spotlight after an email from an anonymous sender, purporting to contain evidence submitted to the investigation, was distributed to media and key figures in the sport.
"There is tension here while he remains in position," former F1 racer Verstappen told the British newspaper at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where his son dominated Saturday's season-opening race.
"The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can't go on the way it is. It will explode. He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems."
Horner could not be contacted immediately, with Verstappen's comments appearing at around 0100 on Sunday local time in Bahrain, and a team spokesman did not respond to a query.
Asked after the race about the email, Horner told reporters he would not comment "on what motives whatever person may have for doing this.
"I have the support of an incredible family, of an incredible wife, of an incredible team and everybody within that team and my focus is on going racing and winning races and doing the best that I can."
Verstappen senior also denied involvement in the anonymous email.
"That wouldn't make sense. Why would I do that when Max is doing so well here?," he said.
Verstappen has won the last three championships in a row and Saturday's victory was the 55th of his career, all of them with Red Bull.

No, he did one season "on loan" to Williams from the red bull programme but then Toto spat the dummy about having a red bull driver in what is essentially the Mercedes B team. So the permanent contract for Albon was contingent on him cutting ties with the Red Bull drivers programme, which he did.
Albon is being heavily linked to that merc seat even though he's still under contract with Williams next year and I could see it happen to make room for Kimi to get the Williams seat.

Red Bull always do the fun stuff. Sure they fleece people on their anxietycans to fund it but at least it goes to silly challenges and cool shit like that.

My two wishes for the season are for Max to win everything and for Carlos to outscore both Charles and Lewis.

Carlos to outscored the both of them Would be amazing.
As for Max winning everything, we still NEED that checo Mexico win and I get the feeling it will be his last opportunity thos year. I need to see just how insane that podium will be, and if checo's dad explodes.
Also hambone and Toto are absolutely seething about their performance in the GP. Like AD21 levels of seeth about their engineers not buying them another championship.

Looks like we're in for another season of Maxwinslol. Despite that, I actually liked the racing on Saturday. There were some close battles.
I'm glad both Astons managed to score points, but they seem to clearly be the fifth-best team on the grid again, which is unfortunate.
Alpine fucking sucks. Michael Andretti is over in St. Petersburg rubbing his fat hands together.
...At least he didn't wreck the car this time. Silver linings?
The Ferrari was the loosest I'd ever seen it yesterday. Sainz could handle it. Chuck could not. If Carlos ends up outpointing Chuck in the season-ending standings, that would be hilarious. If Osama ends up outpointing Hambone for Merc, that would just be depressing, and the epitome of Ferrari's decision-making. Ferrari needs a driver who can tell the box to shut up when they make a particularly stupid call. Charles is too buckbroken to push back at all. They won't ever beat Red Bull if driver #1 is someone who's had his spirit broken and driver #2 is a diva who can't function in anything less than the best equipment. I can't wait to see Hambone lock up 10 times a race next year and then bitch over the radio constantly.
Albon would be a solid pick for that 2nd seat. He's been able to extract a lot more performance from a mediocre car than he had any right to.
Pewis has never been in anything but the most dominant car for years, and can't function when he isn't. The Merc this year is the third-best car at best. Compare to latte boy who had to spend years in a Williams shitbox with Latifi as a teammate, and can actually handle a car that's not perfect. The difference between Pewis and George this race was stunning, even if George did do his typical overdriving and missed out on a podium because of it.

I'm more interested to see how Carlos goes now he has nothing to lose. Heck, he doesn't even need Ferrari "strategy" anymore, as long at least one of his engineers is happy to tag along with him to his next team. Can't wait to see how Ferrari manages to ratfuck him anyway.
Albon was undercooked the last time he was at RBR. Now he's had a couple more years to mature, he could be a real threat in a decent car. Given how Mercedes is unlikely to take Ferrari's sloppy seconds, Albon seems to make the most sense to take Hambone's seat (notwithstanding any silly season antics).
Either way, Albon deserves a better car.

I haven't watched F1 for years (I stopped watching regularly after Jenson Button won the title and stopped following the sport casually after Jules Bianchi died), but a week or so ago I discovered Grand Prix 3 and hoooooooly fucking mother of shit, it is not only the best F1 game, but it very well may be one of the best PC games of all time, period. I can't stop playing and fucking with it (nearly EVERYTHING is editable in some way), and fell into a deep F1 rabbit hole.
Long story short, today I came across these two videos and now my life is completely ruined.

...were you somehow previously unaware that occasionally people die in motorsport?
I don't personally consider the danger an attraction, unlike many. But it's very real and people especially in the past have had horrific deaths in motorsport.
Dude in the Chili Bowl the other year didn't do his belts up right and flipped, came halfway out of the car as it was going onto the roof. It was the second time in my life I said 'holy shit that guy's dead', the other being Greg Moore's wreck at Fontana.
Unlike Greg that dude was actually okay somehow. It's part of the deal. All you can do is work toward safety and hope that neither the safety or any of the inevitable deaths set off a domino effect that destroys the sport (see NASCAR).

I absolutely was aware, and was familiar with almost all of the accidents shown, however after not paying attention to the sport for years, I seemed to forget how harrowing things can get.
I don't want to sound like a pussy, but Ratzenberger's lifeless head flopping about, Gilles Villeneuve's corpse flying through the air after being thrown out of the cockpit and especially Paletti's mother crying in absolute horror, while her son's body was burning up in the wrecked car really, really, really fucked my shit up man.
And all of this happened on live TV.
Almost the same feeling as watching 9/11.
