Federal and State Freedom Of Information Act laws are perhaps the best thing the US has widely adopted in recent years. While FOIA laws differ from state to state the general idea is that any citizen (Sometimes limited to being in that state) can file a request for documents to any government agency and if the request is reasonable and the information requested doesn't fall into an excluded category (Active investigations, classified info, etc.) the government will provide you a copy of the document...
Often times after trying to find a loophole allowing them not to do their job or claiming you need to give them a million dollars (Not an exaggeration) to redact the information you requested. Then giving you an entirely black piece of paper for your money.
FOIA requests can often find not only interesting, but also funny and ridiculous documents. For example Muckrock has a decently well known short series of the CIA's Cafeteria Complaints.

Muckrock is a website and a 501C non-profit that serves as both a tool for making your own FOIA requests easily and a news website writing articles about interesting FOIA requests. Unless you pay for a premium account FOIA requests made through Muckrock are made available to the public through their website providing a giant database of random government documents from across the country. They have also successfully sued the CIA and forced them to make their declassified records more accessible so that's cool I guess.
This thread is for discussing interesting requests found on and off of Muckrock, as long as it's obtained through a FOIA request it's good.
FOIA is also often used to acquire bodycam videos of the cops beating people for youtube content and entertainment these can be found in this thread.
