Speaking of the newest Gladiodrome, it got recommended in my YT feed so I decided to listen to it while doing chores around my house. I know pretty much every podcast is just shooting the shit and meant as background noise you passively consume, but I have an autistic habit where I can’t do that actively engage with it. Because of this, I stopped listening after 40 minutes or so because it got too retarded even for me. The first thing that made me go “what?” was when he said that his K
ratio like in CoD was 15:2 or something and that really his only two Ls were from him sleepwalking. But it’s like bro I think there’s a very good argument to be made that you lost your girlfriend of 10 years because of your Twitter addiction. That’s a pretty big fucking L. Another was them talking about Nu Metal and that Nu Metal was intentionally killed by the amorphous “Them” because it got too popular and got white boys riled up. This is retarded on two fronts because 1. who go nu metal popular in the first place? Flesh & Co.’s framing it would be “Them”. Secondly, it’s retarded because nu metal has been getting a reappraisal and a lot of bands from the 2000s like SOAD, Deftones, Korn, Three Days Grace, are selling out arenas and festivals, literally right now. He also ignores the glut of mediocre bands that infested the genre post-2000, which was the real reason the genre went dormant for 20 years. But maybe in Flesh’s mind all those mediocre bands were industry plants by “Them” or something.
The next thing he said that gave me pause was talking about Shane Gillis, a comedian who’s podcast I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of but don’t anymore mainly do to taste changing. His theory is that Shane Gillis is controlled opposition and that his overnight success after getting cancelled from SNL shows he’s controlled opposition because Shane is selling “I’m a fat white alcoholic that doesn’t do anything”, according to Flesh. But Shane like actually got cancelled, not fake cancelled. He was doing shows with Luis J Gomez and Legion of Skanks in the period of when he got cancelled in 2019 until he started getting mainstream popularity in what 2024? Five years is not “overnight” lmao. And Shane’s talked about his time at West Point extensively when nobody listened to his podcast years ago. He went there on a football scholarship and talked about how he couldn’t hack it. He said everyone there thought he was a loser, and this id before he wanted to become a comedian. Why would glowies pick some fat retard former offensive lineman as controlled opposition back then? I ask this because says getting into West Point is really hard which I agree, but it’s not fucking impossible.
I think if Flesh saw this post would be “it’s a podcast bro it’s not that serious you must be one of my opps if you’re listening that intently to a podcast.” To which I then say, well why the fuck should I ever listen to you on anything? If you don’t have a mental governor where you check yourself and ask “Hey is this point I’m making monumentally stupid and stops making sense if you actually think about for more than 20 seconds?” I don’t think Flesh has that voice, and while Rusty tried to pushback a bit on his Shane Gillis rant, he eventually relented and was like “yeah maybe”. So does Flesh have no one in his orbit that will check him on saying retarded things if he’s unable to do so himself? Like I enjoy his videos but if this level of waffling retardation is in his podcast, how long until that hubris and Twitter addiction infects his videos and he becomes a fullblown lolcow?
