Those neon fish are basically bioengineered fish that were never ment to be kept as pets or live long to begin with.
The only real upside now is that the filter has probably cycled by now so its fighting the nitrogen cycle and the fish are not in constant stinging pain from all the dirty piss water burning their gills.
