With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

    Votes: 57 7.3%
  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 91 11.7%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 176 22.7%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

    Votes: 406 52.3%
  • 5 Stars — Peak Fishtank / Masterpiece. Non-stop insanity, legendary fish and production, pure chaos

This thread post season has taken a severe nose dive. S5 is the worst for the simple fact the simp posting has gotten out of control. I mostly read this thread post season just stopping at posts with pictures or links because they're usually informative but it's real hard to ignore the multiple pages of trash in-between currently.
It turned into a Beauty Parlor thread real quick

We need this guy on Bloodgames

Now that the dust has settled this is how they should have written the ending (epic kino style).
- Get to the final the same way rigging it to an even score, fill up the pool with goo and they tell them to wrestle
- James starts trying to submit the twins, Bingo is screaming and freaking out
- Bam starts shouting STOP STOP THIS IS FUCKED UP and jumps into the pool
- He starts throwing goo at the wiggas and shouting what were you thinking they are going to break an arm and freaking out
- Maybe Jet has a line about it not being fairtank
- Some of the Freeloaders start throwing goo too in the chaos
- Bam storms out mad and production follows after him trying to get him to come back
- Everyone is stood there in silence, Drake and Bingo Bongo covered in goo not sure what to do
- Cams go black
- When they come back 20 minutes later they have cleaned up the Fish and they come up with giving them 25k each or something (so twins technically win as its 50k for them)
- Gay little speeches, everybody claps, everyone is pretty sure it was a bit but they never say

I would rather have Drake on production than being a contestant in any form again. He might be great as a shark/freeloader or something of that sort. Someone earlier suggested having him as the boss of Bloodgames and make the story so the twins have to beat him. Would be nice for the Twincels that felt slighted.
>Man finds meaning in complimentary post from mother on being lovely to her kids
>Somehow this is gay

????
I think its the wording.

Next season needs a cohesive theme. It can devolve like S2's theme but it needs one badly. This has been mentioned a million times but it's more important to talk about than ever while they prepare for S6.
The novelty wears off of any project over time, Fishtank is no exception. One of the reasons S3 was considered among the best is because they had the balls to do something very different, and it mostly paid off. They wouldn't have to change anything else about the show, the chaos and style of humor would remain mostly the same.

The important thing is to ensure seasons can't be easily compared to each other. It's the only way to prevent the same slow decline that every continuous media project on earth has faced. S5 was way too easily compared to S1 and thus ran off a lot of normie fans. The instant magic of just throwing retards together in a house with cameras isn't as potent as it once was.

Some shit off the top of my head:
  • Murder mystery in the style of Clue (ideal imo, constant investigations and "spooky" elements, lights flickering, bonus points for scaring normie contestants)
  • "Hellhouse's Kitchen" (chef attire at all times, food related challenges every day)
  • Dating show (split the house between girls and guys, do nonsense "compatibility" challenges constantly)
  • Wall Street (finance bro nonsense, suits mandatory most of the time)
  • Office (mentioned before, would be mad funny)
  • 90s (strict, every last drop would be themed)
  • Hotel (single-night guests, bellhops that steal shit, "room service", continental breakfast challenges, fake elevator, etc)
  • 50's imminent nuclear apocalypse house (slowly changes into schizo prepper house over time)
  • Some kind of indoor LARP (house is a castle with constant fairytale challenges, pirates, samurai, scifi, idgaf)
I think those are good ideas for shorter run spin offs like Bloodgames or challenge nights in the House. I too have had the Murder Mystery Party idea stuck in my head.

But I don't think it'd work for a whole main season. I think it'd overshadow getting to know the new Fish, and just throw off the random absurdity of the house. The Jobs and Market this season were good at keeping the Fish busy during show hours, and I'd be happy for them to return. I don't think they should last the whole season either though, once the House reaches a certain chaos level I don't think it's worth it.

Jet talked about Never Die Living being a good different kind of vibe repair, that isn't just letting the Fish relax. I think a lot of those LARP ideas would be good for a fun, not antagonistically competitive, decompress nights to let the fish just goof off, and those that run well can be considered for their own event with returning Fish.

Bashir created an Instagram in the middle of the night.

Bashir says "sorry Heidegger". I am here to enlighten the kiwi masses on his esoteric reference....

This is what Heidegger said about technology in his essay "The Question of Technology" in 1954 (link to a 14 page pdf), these are Heidegger's main claims:

(1) Technology is “not an instrument”, it is a way of understanding the world. (There are responsible ways to use technology.)

(2) Technology is “not a human activity” (like Instagram or Twittier isn't a human activity), but develops beyond human control. (AI, reliance on technology etc.)

(3) Technology is “the highest danger”, risking us to only see the world through technological thinking. (Doom scrolling, avoiding God through preference to technology, not touching grass etc).

Aka, another dangerously based take from Bashir btw. Despite this, I still think shitposting is fun.

Note: Heidegger is far from the first philosopher to cover dangers of technology. There's many even older philosphers who dabbled on the topic, Aristotle did as well in his second book Physica.
