With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

That's INSANE dude, I've never seen him break like that before or at least I can't remember. This makes me question reality itself, is Burt the greatest method actor that's ever lived?

Here's a post I made from March of this year where you can see Burt struggling to hold it together while doing a prank call, though its not necessarily "breaking character" just a rare genuine laugh from him. He's also been breaking/corpsing since late season 3, in which Ben, Jet, and Sam all called him out several times during the RV trip for smiling after saying something that he played off as serious. One of these times Ben even calls him "one of the greatest method actors" he's ever met. I can't find that clip right now but Ben definitely said that, which is a high compliment coming from the guy who portrayed Gay Ben IMO.

Now that the show is back on he's been hamming it up even harder and starting to break. Also the HD cams give us closeups of his face but so did the PTZ cams so I don't think he's been doing it the whole time.

I also called this out way back in December of 2024, so whoever gave me autist and dumb reacts for this, you're gay.
Burt is not acting most of the time but it's clear to me that he is at least somewhat self aware and playing into what he thinks the audience finds titillating.

I certainly remember there being a debate if he was acting or not, seeing things that went with the narrative that he was faking. I guess after seeing him for long enough on FT (and streams) the suspicion for me went down, course I guess you could argue the other side, maybe that Burt is actually genuine and him "breaking character" is actually just his messed up brain letting him see somewhat clearly for a second lol, idk, leave it for smarter minds than mine.

I think its pretty clear that he's acting. But on the flipside Burt is also a guy who fucks old jewish men in the ass for some reason.

You can say whatever you want about the production and the energy of the season, but it was the most kino season as far as setting goes. That house was fantastic, Sam's character was great, and the 70s clothing was a cool touch, all of that combined with it filming during Christmas and New Years and man, very comfy.

just seeing the thumbnail there makes me nostalgic. it started almost two years ago, right around the Christmas season which we're approaching now. the vibes were at peak comfiness.

season 2 wasnt perfect, but it was a great atmosphere. im hoping S5 has a theme of some sort, last season just felt so empty.

I think it's obvious Burt is just playing up certain aspects of his personality because he knows it gets a bigger reaction. It's "acting" but he's not pretending to be something he isn't. You see it all the time on reality TV, people are acutely aware they're being filmed so they act like an exaggerated version of themselves.

The wardrobe in particular was a work of genius because it allowed them to restrict participants from bringing in their own luggage, disincentivising fucking with each other's luggage and reducing the amount of money they had to reimburse people for their personal belongings being destroyed. I wonder why they abandoned the idea.

Of course, Rachel's fuckload of unnecessary luggage did add a lot to season 4 while it lasted. Also, I don't think Famous House recruits would have been willing to wear used communal clothing, so there's that, too.
 
Big Brother Australia has been airing recently and they have a few good ideas that FT could adopt if any wiggers are reading this (We know you are)
  • No fishbucks, rewards buy food for the week and goodies, only the head housemate can choose though
  • Head house mate - chosen by the most recent evictee.
    Adds more depth to who you vote for because they can they fuck with you after they leave
    • Nominate 3 housemates to do chores; clean, cook and wake up early to make fresh bread
    • Can use fishbux to buy goodies from store room
    • Immune from elimination for the week
  • Long form challenges to fuck with people: how long can you stay awake, waking people at random hours to do challenges etc.
  • 3 housemates are put up for elimination each week and then the community decides who goes (Least votes).
  • Last meal: all 3 nominations get a prepared meal with wine. All rules are lifted ie, they can discuss their nominations etc.
There's some really good stuff in here actually, returning back to the original formula worked well this season.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, they are weaponising coffee something chronic this season. If the house fucks up, whether they break rules or completely flunk a challenge then no coffee. It's already created heaps of incidents where house mates have stashed coffee beans and been found out. 10/10 kino
