With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

guilty. i thought it was an act for the show at first, then when the show ended i thought it might just be she is trying to gamble away his winnings. in hindsight i was 100% wrong. i apologize to you taylor.

The two times that Brian seemed to be the 'most liked' as far as I remember were when (1) he did the standup bit that was all stolen from memes and half-remembered Cumtown bits, and (2) his character on Bloodgames, which was literally just a really shitty impression of John Marston/Arthur Morgan.

The absolute peak of Brian's FT experience, and likely life, in terms of popularity is him just poorly regurgitating things that funnier/more talented people have done. It'd be one thing if he was self-aware of this or able to accept that this is him, but he clearly has quite a large ego and likes to smell his own farts.

I distinctly remember Shinji revealing he was a MDE fan near the end of the season which would make sense that he would have a cover story since the fish were supposed to pretend to not be fans early on.

Then again, Shinji can barely speak English so he might not even know what he's saying most of the time.
 
Shinji being an MDE fan prior to season 2 seems unlikely to me. MDE's comedy is already incomprehensible to most people but add in a language barrier and cultural difference and I just don't see it clicking. I bet you the guy who talked him into going on the show showed him a sketch or two and that was the extent of it.

Shinji's favorite youtuber is AVGN, it's not a stretch at all.

I think you are misremembering, in the quiz part of the swamp olympics Shinji didn't get a single question right in the MDE trivia.
