Mauro mutters "pedophiles" just as he walks off for the final time at around 18:10 minutes in, and he began Markyposting on Twitter mere minutes after this all went down. I remember Sam saying he tries to leave things on good terms with people on the show unless they "fuck off in a real bad way". He made up with Jimmy, he tried to bring Cole back in the fold, etc. So obviously something happened behind-the-scenes with Mauro for things to get this heated.

My big theory is that Jet confronted him earlier about his not working, not being on set, being drunk all the time, fucking around in Boston (according to Dumbgay), etc, and Mauro responded by attempting to blackmail production for $3k with the "allegations". Sam is notified and naturally does a Simmons-Lite on Mauro with the "Kick Mauro" Fishtoy, and later says he's just flat out not paying him beyond providing him a flight home.

A lot of people see fame as the defining feature of their life. For someone like Mauro, Fishtank is something he'll tell people about for the rest of his life. Despite being angry now, it's too large of a landmark in his life's story to let go.

A generation of kids have grown up with a primary interest in becoming influencers. Children once dreamt of becoming astronauts. This had a direct effect on literature/movies/etc. Now, Mauro is your average kid. Not interesting enough to be worthy of attention. But demanding it none the less.

Right around the start of the season, just based on how extensive the property and set is, I definitely thought there could be real potential for them to do one or two "Fishtank Experience" type, non-broadcasted mini-seasons with superfans willing to pay $5-10K as a means of funding future endeavors.

Then I realized that the set, plus the 2-3 hours Jet took looking at LARP videos on YouTube, was about the full extent of forethought/planning for what the gameplay would actually be like.
