With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

    Votes: 91 11.7%
  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 177 22.7%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

This is 10 acres:

It probably would be a challenge to figure out an area big enough to feel expansive for an outside season, but not so big that autists get lost in it. Still, are they really gonna be able to fit all the shit into that sort of space?

Next week will show us whether they figured it out or created a clusterfuck, we all know which it will most likely be

I saw people use that pic before, I don't think it's really the right one to use. This is a wooded 10 acres:

When it's just an empty green field your brain just shrinks it subconsciously and the little white building in that pic being so far away makes you forget your size relative to the lot. It takes about 6 minutes to walk across a 10 acre lot and by contrast it takes like 20 seconds to walk from B3/B4 to the kitchen in the houses from S1 and S2.

mildly autistic addition to this for perspective. 10 acres is 435,600 square feet, so if the land is a perfect square it would be 660 feet long on each side. It won't be a square plot so a walk from one end to the other will be shorter than going in the perpendicular direction.

I guess it will feel bigger in a wooded area. Its still gonna be jetslop regardless of how big.
It'll feel bigger considering they can use brush and trees to obfuscate things, that and camera angles. Not that they will probably utilize this to the extent that they should, but hey it'll help.

Also waiting for one of the contestants to touch poison ivy or oak like an absolute tard. My bets on Jimmy.

Even odds Jon is going to sever an artery and get tetanus or something from this deathtrap.
He'll probably try to exercise on it/against it and break it.

I'm betting at least one of them try to eat it. Or smoke it.

Unsurprising, really. They hadn't figured out how they would stream 6 mobile cams in the woods at the time of the investor stream. And that crack shack they've set up doesn't scream quality to me. They probably spent the last couple of months doing nothing, thinking they'd be able to set up and figure everything out in a month before the show begins only to realise that they fucked up bad and there's no way they'll be able to have it ready in time. Doing a stream on a 60 acre wooded plot is a lot more ambitious and will require lots of planning and infrastructure that wasn't required for a season inside a house: Making sure each of the 6 mobile cams and TTS bags will be constantly charged as well as any additional cameras that might exist, making sure that the entire area has a strong enough internet connection to allow for streaming, there's supposed to be NPC actors so they'll have to be accommodated, they'll need to set up these quests since it's going to be roleplay heavy, setting up stuff for the contestants to scavenge and do for 2 weeks, etc.

Nevertheless, it's been almost 4 months since S2 ended and they can't do a 2 week mini-season on time, how the fuck are they going to have something prepared for every single day of Season 3 which is meant to be in August?

They probably won't lmao

In other news, they're outsourcing content and challenges to the fans and making you pay for it.

It’s becoming blatantly obvious that fishtank should be once a year (or maybe 9 months) instead of having two seasons a year. They are clearly not cut out for two seasons a year. People have been saying this for a while now but I doubt they’ll listen.

It's a shame because of how much lost potential there is with the show. An actually competent and professional crew would be able to pump out 2 seasons a year no problem, instead we have the wigger crew squandering a great concept.

They keep doing it to themselves. Literally nobody would care if they took a year to prepare. They insist on giving specific dates that leave too little time for a competent team to actually do anything, let alone for the wiggers to do something.

. They are clearly not cut out for two seasons a year.
they're not cut out for two seasons a century tbqh

It doesn't matter when they have a new one because it always ends the same way. they don't plan whatsoever either so even more reason it doesn't fuckin matter. they could do a new one every month and it will never have less planning than they already do, same if they did only one every year.

These zoomers can't figure out how to run a show properly so they just won't ever be able to make a good version of this shit. i love people acting like this is a lot of land for this shit, people forget that it will be roughly as wide as a football field is long, it doesn't matter how much coverage you have, if you have 20/20 vision you should be able to see from one end to the other. its never truely going to feel like the woods. there are parks near me that are just as "woodsy" that white parents let their little kids run around in because it really isn't that scary. Thats how shitty this set up is, even white parents aren't frightened their little girl is going to get flashed or groped in there.

They are going to have to get rather creative as the infrastructure is going to be a bitch most likely. Of the options they have that come to my mind:
  • [*]Trail cam setups:
    • Cons
    • Reliant on cellular service (though some can bootleg as APs or have wifi capoability(though that has it's own issues))
    • Mediocre video quality
    • Usually requires a third party (of the nicer ones I'm aware of)
    • Pros
    • One of the few options that isn't going to need as much of a power source
    • Most have decent IR (They will probably still need IR illumination though at night)
    • Easy Mounting
    • Weather Proof
    [*]IRL streamer backpacks
    • Cons
    • Expensive
    • Relies on tards not destroying them (They will absolutely get snagged on branches and shit)
    • Cellular? (Of these options I'm least familiar with it. I like to imagine they can connect to wifi and will do this when possible to save bandwidth but idk)
    • May not have IR like other options?
    • Probobaly not be something they can have up and running 24/7 since it'll be on a battery
    • Pros
    • Great for the "Survival FPS" angle they promoted
    • LIVE TARD ACTION
    • Will probably have 3rd party support by the comapnies who facilitate this shit
[*]Wireless transievers (wifi access points covering the forest, directional radios bridged together, or some ghetto hybrid)
    • Cons
    • Weather can fuck with transmissions
    • Foliage eating/blocking transmissions
    • Worse latency and potentially worse quality
    • Interference (if they fuck up the channels or have overlapping wavelenghts/transmissions)
    • Will still need power so they probably will still need to run wires for that but could maybe run shit off batteries?
    • Will require a fair bit of testing and setup
    • Pros
    • Looks nicer, less visible wires
    • If set up correctly could provide redundancy depending on the network design
    • Weatherproof (if they know what to look for and don't get indoor shit like tards)
    [*]Wired Connections
    • Cons
    • Running wire
    • Limitations/Constraints of the wire (IE if they are retardedly trying to use CAT cable they are limitted to about 100m lengths at best (That's ~320' in freedom units)
    • Potential hazard of getting knocked down by falling branches (If hung)
    • Depending on the wiring can be prone to interference (not an issue for fiber optics)
    • Visible wires
    • Pros
    • Best quality and latency
    • Could be burried in PVC pipe or direct burried depedning on the cabling (Will be tough with roots though)
    • Runs can be used to provide power as well if it won't fuck with the cabling (like fiber)
I'm really not sure what's the best here. I'm leaning towards wired since you're going to have to power shit anyhow. It'll just be annoying stringing shit from tree to tree. Probably would want to run tension cables then hang the wire from them.

This is a real shame.
I am more concerned with how this affects Season 3. But something that comes to mind is how this crew has been ok with a lot of jank before and I expect this must have been an exquisite disaster for them to postpone. Definitely not postponing to add that last bit of polish, they postpone because it didn't work at all.
I hope for the best, if this turns out good that is very exciting.
