With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I could get down with this. I would hope Charleston White (It going to be freakin Brian), Fatty, Dunyaye, Ben, Scott, Vance - that would be a fun competition. Just throw those 6 in the woods as a dnd vampire larp?

I've been hoping for a fishtank all-stars since the end of season 1 but doesn't anyone else think this is way too fucking early? There's only been 2 seasons. You would think all stars would happen on the 5th or 6th season or something, get 2 fish/freeloaders from every season. They're really jumping the gun here imo. As people have pointed out, who would it even be? The only ones currently worth bringing for all-stars including freeloaders are Vance (unfair as he worked for production), Letty, Dumye, and maybe Greg or Simon. I don't think any fish from season 2 would be remotely interesting to see again besides Jimmy who's a massive liability. CERTAINLY not trish or brian.

Also, what happened to a casting agency? They're using the same fucking people.

I would be perfectly fine with this, except replace Charleston/Brian (no chance because he was/is Jet's favorite) with Jon or Jimmy. The show would need at least one sperg who drives content and pushes everyone into action. Everybody else is good content, but at the same time not good without someone else kicking things off first. Fatty is a retard, but without someone triggering him, he just sleeps and eats in relative peace.
Knowing Jet though we will likely get the most boring contestants of the past such as Brian and Damiel.
 
God I feel like this is either going to go okay or be utter dog shit.

It's definitely too early to be doing any kind of all star competition, I can't see many people coming back especially shinji. He seems really done with Sam and crew after the last short he uploaded them deleted.

This just feels like super milqtoast? I don't know. If the whole thing is taking place outdoors I really can't see most people sticking it out the full 2 weeks without some kind of prize money. Here's hoping they figured out how to get consistent internet cause otherwise this will probably be totally unwatchable.

I watched some of the streams tonight, maybe some meager notes for once

Tay went offline before the video description leaked so nobody asked her about it. She said she doesn't know anything about 2.5 and said she thought they would probably be casting all new people.
In contrast though she did tweet herself in the woods with "soon," but she is also normally not a good liar so who knows.
Otherwise - there was a lot of friction on Tuesday because Tay got pretty drunk on and wasn't, I guess, respecting her chat simps in the way they wanted to be respected after her hiatus. Thursday was lots of vibe healing though, less focus on Maria and more on crochet and chilling.

The thing leaked while Jimmy was live and so people confronted him with it on the spot. He said they haven't reached out to him and that given it's "all stars" he hopes Jon is in it.

As cool as this sounds in theory, it also seems like the exact kind of thing Jet would shove Bryan and Damiel into.

Since they’re making this season a bit different in concept I think it deserves some more leeway. A two vampire survival challenge sounds pretty fun, especially with how goofy vampire movies can be. Contestants might be repeated, but if 2.5 is unique enough it might not matter too much. Fingers crossed they get the planning done right in this one.

God that sounds super fucking cringe. Amazing to have an All Star Reunion Event before you've had a single star contestant.

100% Jet wants to suck Brian's balls, and this is probably just facilitating that. Probably all Jet side project while Sam is busy. Bringing back freeloaders as actual contestants is probably a requirement to get 6, seeing as how Simmons, Jon, Summer, JC, Cole are complete nonstarters for options.

If I had to guess an all Fish cast based solely on Jetpotism: Brian, Mauro, Meg, Trish, Josie, Vance?

Don't most reality shows not include winners in their all-star seasons? I think it would be a really shitty idea if they did. It's just so stupid to have an all-stars season just 2 seasons in. It should be for people who could have won or were extremely entertaining but left too soon or just have more to offer. That should immediately disqualify everyone who won or has nothing more to offer (Mauro, Trish, etc). The only people I can see reasonably meeting that criteria are:

- Letty, she arguably deserved to win and was very entertaining
- Vance, he is the only fishtank contestant who is genuinely funny and had some semblance of a strategy but I think he should be DQed for having inside knowledge on production. Same goes for Damiel for being a plant.
- Brian, he got shafted with his exit but he is so fucking boring and obnoxious I really don't want to see more Brian.
- Dunye, he could have probably been a contestant with how much of a good sport he was with the challenges. He deserves to compete for money.

Other alternatives that would not work for obvious reasons but definitely have more entertainment to offer would be Jimmy, Cole, Betty, and Jon. That's not going to happen.

EDIT: Tayleigh probably deserves another chance too for how hard she competed. She got screwed by TJ's "arc"

Not seeing a lot of discussion about the "first person" part. So all six contestants will be rigged with POV cams like last season and we'll be switching between them? I guess that's what the demo later today is for.

Hopefully they won't completely replace regular cameras, it would be good to have both perspectives.

The only time it would make sense to include winners is if all contestants were previous winners. Sort of like a way to show who the best of the best is. But since a season with two people and those two people being the most boring Fish to ever exist, Josie and TJ, it isn’t even worth thinking about.

The more you think about it the more problems kind of present themselves. The likelihood of unique and real dynamics between a group of returning Fish is pretty low. It will be hard to capture the magic that a brand new contestant brings on with an old contestant we are already familiar with.
