I really hope for future seasons going forward that they cut back or tone down on the "le gaslighting!" bit. I feel like that's all they do whenever they interact with the Fish and it just makes it to the point where the contestants themselves hardly believe anything they're saying. Mixing lies in with the truth is a way more effective way of trying to manipulate people in a reality show type setting.

The season might be starting this week if it's going to revolve around Sam's schedule, since he's returning to his tour on the 12th, so perhaps they're going to surprise launch it?
Or it's not going to revolve around that and he'll be missing for parts of it.

There was an arc that went undocumented where I thought Jimmy and Duany'ay had some kind of tiff because after Duany'ay mentioned setting up Jimmy to be cast in something, but a few days latere was tweeting about ungrateful people asking for more than one favor, and I thought maybe Jimmy pissed him off

either way, I don't think that's how things actually went anymore, and now Duany'ay's getting some trash in the mail

Tracking numbers and everything. Jimmy is basically Amazon.

I just don't think it's gonna be that soon, Maejok & Wes said the retro theme for the site is temporary until the new theme is ready and that's not up yet, plus there's no trailer and they've done one for the last two seasons.

Its possible I think. While Season 2 had a trailer two weeks before, season one dropped a trailer less than a week before the show started. Its not too radical that they just drop some stuff with relatively little notice.

Always found it odd that Greg listened to Sam's advice and has kept this new suggested look for months after the show. He responds!
I don't want to see Frank or Fatty ever again but Greg is so fucking money that they should get him in whatever the next season is. I don't think they can ever rekindle the magic of basically kidnapping him to save the end of Season 2, but he's the exact person who should be on the Tank. A little autistic, but overall a genuine person who needs money, and online enough to not immediately leave when things get racier.

He said that he wouldn't go on knowing what he knows now.

A large reason why he was compelling was that he could participate on his own terms and felt free to say no to anything. He accidentally offered something unique when everyone else is just beaten down to always be in that "yes and" mode. It was very refreshing. I doubt he would be as good as a more willing participant.

Greg is unironically a really cool guy too, just wanna say that.

Apparently every donation that was given to Shinji via Streamlabs was redirected to Save the Children, so about $1k in total.

Returning late to the semester was a disaster as Crash procrastinated, forgot or was just unable to get Shinji's tuition payment to the proper place in time so Shinji got a 5k penalty fee which ate up basically all of his prize money. There was no second place cash prize, not even the scarab so Shinji effectively is only up by 2-3k by my estimate.

I know "second place" was not an official thing at any point but they really fucked him over and so did Crash for getting him to do it. Imagine going on any sort of production for 6 weeks and walking away with a few grand while they profit significantly more off of you. Fishtank is a show for the destitute and retarded to go on.

"I cannot escape concern about the money" oh buddy :(

Yes, and that's a good thing in one respect. I knew they'd have some real desperate freaks if they were willing to spend Christmas and New Years there. FT is for laughing at retards and freaks, with a little bit if relaxation to cool down with.

In Shinji's case though, it really sucks because he didn't really understand everything fully, and he probably deserved the win way more than TJ. There was really no benefit to having TJ win. Tay and Trish seem to have launched somewhat stable streaming hustles from it, but TJ has nothing going on at all.

Jet and Sam really wiped their hands clean with S2 cast, I don't see any post tank interaction or help trying to push them, even Greg I expected Sam to at least try help him a bit more than what was said in the tank.

Compare that to Vance who basically got hired on or Josie and Letty who got a big inital push by appearing on streams and having them help set them up.

In my opinion, how they handled it after season 2 is how it should be. They set a bad precedent after season 1 having the girls hang around Rhode Island for basically another month and then Letty ends up banging one of them for who knows how long, then Josie is invited back up just to party and again to work on the show and party. Vance being brought back makes more sense than any of the post-season 1 hangout. I realize Jet wanted friends (and girls) at his birthday party, let's not forget he invited Betty to his party... and Sam wanted Stockholmed extra for WP2 but it makes it look bad when they suddenly do nothing.

This is fair but Josie and Letty were actually interesting unlike the final 3 of season 1 so it kind of made sense for them to hang around and make some shit with Sam. You could not make an interesting stream with someone like TJ.

It felt like you went through a journey and back with Josie and Letty. The constant buildup. Every Fish rallying behind Josie to defeat the Piss Witch. Josie never choosing a side but finally having to confront somebody during the finally. Letty finally having to attack someone who never actively tried to sabotage her. Good vs Evil. Aggressive vs Passive. It was well thought out and made sense from a narrative perspective. Even if Josie somehow lost the walking challenge and Vance made it in it still would have worked from a narrative perspective. Except this time Vance would have to finally sabotage Letty and complete the deed he failed at before. Both come full circle.

What kind of tension was there between TJ and Shinji? There was absolutely no conflict. There wasn't even any real conflict during the final four because almost every Fish was passive due to fearing that if they stepped out of line and did something unique Production would swarm them. It would actively harm their chances of winning if they made a rival or even pushed the idea of conflict.

They were the same on day 41 as they were on day 1. Two mediocre at best Fish who never developed out of fear of becoming a target. You can look at the finale of season one and notice a clear theme present between the two remaining Fish. Good vs Evil. Tj and Shinji was just passive puppet vs passive Asian guy who sometimes did something when he was drunk. Great fucking finale. I really cannot imagine a "good" finale out of the finale four Fish during season two. I can only imagine slightly less worse ones.

Another issue is that there were 3 people in the finale. Tay said herself that she wasn't going to fuck with them since that would pit them both against her and lower her chances (that ended up happening anyways lmao). Once she was done fucking with Fatty she had no reason to go out and start shit with TJ or Shinji and production did nothing to brew up tensions/conflict, pitting them against each other in the final week.

There was little to no incentives to sabotage each other in S2, while there was that challenge where they sabotaged each others milk buckets, there was nothing like the baby challenge and the resulting shouting match. They made a mistake by steering away from day-long challenges which incentivised sabotage, since those would lead to organic tensions and conflict. Another issue when it comes to that is the bell, imagine if during season 1 whenever there was some drama, instead of arguing about shit they rang just a bell, did some shitty challenge, and it was all over with one of the fish spending the rest of the day in the doghouse doing nothing. The bell just snuffed out any existing tensions and reset them to being neutral with each other.

Could not have said it better myself. I cannot get invested in two super passive nice guys who like each other competing to win something. It just doesn't work for a dramatic reality show. It should have been Tay vs TJ. That would have been at least okay. We already know this is just a popularity contest at least make it interesting. The good vs evil theme while obviously a fantastical construction of the audience worked extremely well for season 1's finale. The evil manipulative whore vs the wholesome childish Indian queen it just worked.
