I was listening to this video, but I gotta say that after hearing Null talk about Jet’s beef with the site; it’d be interesting to see what happens long term with him. Especially if it’s true that Jet is a tranny chaser (idk if it’s due to the /r9k/ tripfag stuff), it’ll be funny to see if Sam eventually cuts off Jet.

The only way this could have been successfully done was if all the episodes are an hour long minimum each and the season was at least 15-20+ episodes long. 10 half hour episodes was never going to cut it for a show that was live 24hrs for 42 days.

I just watched some Fishtank archives of the last week. I really think Sam got for real pissed off at Jet and took over after seeing how much of a mess he made of things. There were times I could see he was visibly short and snippy with Jet in a way that wasn't just Goldstriker being a cunt for the camera but Sam being mad at Jet.

Tellingly, have you noticed that Jet isn't doing the livestreams with Sam anymore? It's some other guy. Is there something up with that? Because I really feel that knowing how much of a control freak Sam Hyde can be, he wouldn't have allowed Frank Hassle to go off the way he did unless something was up.

Frank actually called out the 20 minutes of unfunny detective bit being included which I'm happy about. Why does a producer have more screen time than a person who was fundraised and hyped for weeks? "Dude we made you a villain we couldn't include x and y!" yet there's so many stuff they could add like Frank walking around with a hammer, destroying plushies, riling people up in general being a menace that was simply left out. You can tell the detective was in for so long just because it was Jet's bit. They showed Josie hiding plushies everywhere, but then this plot point was just forgotten about later? "Narrative" is just a cope out.

Jet's focusing on FT full time which is why you don't see him with Sam or Nick. The stuff about Sam being snippy is just because neither he or Jet put a lot of planning in and they were just playing it by ear. You can tell in the earlier days that Sam showed up ready to film with absolutely no idea what happened in the tank that day. He and Jet were making it up as they went and usually weren't on the same page so there's some passive aggressive banter as they try to bring each other up to speed, live, without being obvious about it.

Might be too early to doom post but I don't think Season 2 can go that well unless Sam is heavily involved and making sure shit is planned out. One bit that struck out to me in the twitter talk was Jet saying "do you want to be an editor and work 60 hours a week". I never really thought about it but that amount of work makes sense but it's just because it's another one of Jets poorly planned processes. It's been about 6 months or less since the show ended and they are only just now editing the show into episodes and not only that they're trying to edit one week by week. I can understand taking a break but literally why push people through that kind of workload instead of spreading it out months and releasing the episodes when all or most were finished. Granted, the product probably would've been worse because jet wouldn't be taking feedback if he released it all at once but no shit the editing isn't going to be as good or cohesive when you're making somebody sift through so much footage and put it all together in one week. What a fucking retard.

Vance says John has been going around screaming and breaking shit but there isn't any footage of it at any point, or John watching Sam do it. John aping Sam was a huge part of his character and it is completely left out.

It's also not clear why Lance shows up at all. They don't play any of the TTSes where people called Vance Lance and, even though the scenes were boring by nature, they needed to show him standing around saying yeah in order to explain why there is a clone standing around saying yeah.

It's a difference of planning to put just one arc from beginning to finish in each episode, versus going serial and saying "in episode 3 we'll set up Vance saying yeah a lot, and in episode 4 we'll have him going schizo, and then that arc will pay off in episode 6." Otherwise the only events that can be used to develop an arc are the ones that are smack up against each other.

Or with Damiel, you don't get a sense that he and Letty have been building towards confrontation over the last 3 weeks because until it came to a boil it was always the C plot and there was wasn't any time in the episodes for anything other than the A plot.

Agree that this was best episode by a long shot. After watching it, I can see where Frank is coming from though. He is pretty much portrayed as a guy who shows up, shits in a cup, and then leaves when in reality it was a very different vibe (he was non-stop spitting on things, blowing smoke in people's faces, and all in all trying to make everybody as uncomfortable as possible). I can understand cutting some of it out, but I expected at least the food fight (which also included Chris in blackface) and him being tied up on a chair making it in. The extras were painful though. The hot or not and the ranking thing were so cringe and went on for so long I have no idea why anybody thought it would be a good idea to put those in.

I'm glad they cut out entirety of ASF's hour long bicep workout though, which my opinion is probably THE worst hour of the entire Fishtank. Those who haven't seen it or don't remember it, it's an hour long bit where the Fatty is screaming at the contestants like he's about to stroke out and yelling "capiche" over and over:

It was so bad even Sam seemed pissed off at him and proceeded to ask ASF to box with him which he then probably used as an excuse to mess him up a little bit (until Fatty started to cry about how shit his life is) like he did with Jon:

Franks last little bit in the call about how much money was made and still playing the excuse of just figuring things out was a good summation of the issue. There really is no excuse and Jet going from bragging about how much money they made to how hard "things" are on him the next sentence is gay as fuck. The only thing that will happen is them making a killing off of superchats about Jet being a gay baby on everyone's shows.

Fishtank: Season One was good in spite of Jet's constant interjections. Not because of them. Most of the planned aspects didn't pan out. Yet, because of cast chemistry, the show was lightning in the bottle. The same can't be said for the lackluster final episodes.

The lack of viewer retention for the edited versions of the episodes paints a clear picture. Jet is a decent enough idea guy. But he's not capable when it comes to executing. His music is a prime example. Some people have "it" when it comes to creation. I don't get any "it" factor from Jet. He works hard. There's no denying that. But there's opportunity for him to get in his own way here.

Hopefully the cool reception to the final product gives him a hearty dose of ego-death. If he gets out of the way I'm sure it will be a good time. But if Season One has emboldened him with a sense of unearned arrogance then it wont be half as good.

I think Jet is struggling in editing because the footage doesn't gel with the concept he pitched. Classic moments have to be cut from the final product to fit the "narrative" jet keeps going on about. It's amazing how little he seems to understand what made the live version work. At this point the only thing that can fix the situation is dedicated fans creating a cut that embodies the spirit of the show. The Jet cut is a sad attempt at pushing a square peg through a round hole. .

So many funny moments between Frank and Sylvia was left out. Frank blocking Sylvia's path that led her having a melt down that resulted Chris yelling at Sylvia was great and Frank laying on her bed while they were drunk was hilarious too.
