It is surreal hearing Jon talk in HD. He hasn't even been in this high quality when he's streamed on YouTube with Sylvia.

• Reached about 50 viewers, which is good for Kick. Better than Damiel and Letty got by a long shot although he tweeted to advertise this more than they did. Apparently this was Jet and Sam's idea and Jon didn't know what Kick was.
• Plan going forward is to stream 2-3 times a week. He's kind of insane so I'm 50-50 on whether technological incompetence will be the reason he can't manage this, or his insane schedule and habits, or if he's so insanely driven that keeping a schedule won't be hard. He says he will also record 3-4 podcast episodes a week.
• Recorded his podcast with Sam and Jet already, will record with Vance on October 11. His editor takes the footage and cuts it.

I also listened to Hong Kong 2 5&6, the one with Dam and the one with Dam and Jet. You may be surprised to hear it wasn't worth the time... If I had to give serious criticism to HK2 beyond "it's two retarded boys with no life experience and, if they have a unique perspective on anything at all, they're not sharing it" it's that they don't sit down with topics prepared, so consistently the conversation goes to "which incredibly beautiful supermodel would you have sex with" and "what is the seedy side of [city] like" every episode. There were miniscule tidbits for the thread, I suppose.

• Damiel said he was surprised about how the show impacted him, said he was lying on the couch going through the compilations people made, found the Everlong edit and cried
• Damiel said people on social media have been accusing him of being out of touch with everyone. Bottom line up front: Fishtank Season 2 Starts Dec. 18, the day that the last episode of the documentary airs.

Insane. Which means it runs through Christmas, and New Year's. Insane. We can talk up how stupid and full of hubris it is to offer whales the opportunity to spend $25k to get onto the set, but expecting anyone to tune in over the holidays is crazy.

I'll add more random notes as I watch but I wanted to drop that news now.

Jon's guy-in-the-chair, Vitaniuss, (tweets protected) did a good job with bookmarking everything, it's easy to flip through.

The general feel of this is that Sam is interviewing Jon and not vice-versa. Jon asks questions but Sam sort of helps him along knowing what topics would be interesting to his own fans that Jon doesn't really understand, and sneaks in questions for Jon that Jon's followers would want to know, that Jon wouldn't bring up on his own.

• Jon still doesn't understand what Sam does, thought he had ~businesses~ other than media and YouTube
• Sam's series of comments about replacing a floor have to do with a building he has purchased to move the office into

• Jon got death threats from people he didn't respond to in a timely way on social media. Sam: "why would anyone want to kill you? That's so funny."
• Sam asks Jon about his neck injury from a car accident this summer. It "destroyed the ligaments in his neck."
  • Sam asks if he can sue her, Jon says he hasn't considered it at all. Sam's face grows increasingly stormy throughout this as it's clear Jon probably deserved money for this but is going to have trouble as he didn't obtain the necessary paper trail.
• Sam tries to talk Jon out of a sort of extreme populist-blackpilled perspective he's expressed before, I dunno how successful he is or if Jon really internalized anything he was saying.
• They don't have all the contestants for season 2, but they've done video interviews with "promising people." Sam says they are trying to find the most "interesting" people and that finding lonely freaks just comes with soliciting for reality shows.
• Sam is the one who told Jon that he has to do podcasts 3 times a week and adhere to it. Tries to give Jon advice on how to interview and how to guide a conversation.

I can understand your argument, the parasocial shit surrounding season 1s waifus are insane and continue to this day but these people aren't going to learn their lesson unless something really bad or embarrassing happens to them. I don't think not having some option like this is going to do more good than having the option available. I agree that I really dislike the parasocial shit so many young people fall into these days but there's nothing you can do to help these people unless you know them directly. If someone actually pays for one of those options, I can only seeing it as most likely setting up something really funny if the date is livestreamed. At worse it will be cringe and maybe the contestant will walk away rightfully embarrassed.
