With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

I mean I get it. Your team is moving mountains since day 3 to get this project back up for like a week and you cant really do anything about it but soak the cost of $30k that was meant to last all month; you finally get everything in order and you find out you have to take a stance on a possible chomo being on your show because everyone knows that you know about it. I would probably go ballistic, too.

But i really hope they loosen up on the Jon TTS bans. Give him like a day but im pretty sure by tomorrow he’s going to be back to normal, as he’s shown before.

Also if they dont start giving away fishbucks like candy it’s going to be hard to keep them on until they see for themselves what an actual by-the-book elimination looks like.
Like idc for Mauro bc he slept like 20 hours a day but he gave up like $1500 to just walk out. There had to have been an amount that wouldve kept him on.

TTS was a mistake, moderating it even harder than Twitch is a bigger mistake. They should just get rid of it until Jon leaves and activate the actual fish toys.

Maybe not to us. But I'd imagine none of the fish have worked above min wage for a significant amount of time or had a better job option available that they could have turned Sam down for. I'd also doubt they understand personal finance - if asked, at least half would probably say $20k is a huge amount of money that would last a long time and is enough to retire on for the next few years.

also the fish now think (rightly so) that if they get too sad or scared (or threaten to leave) then they get a free movie night with no cameras or an hour of internet time. jon's situation is kind of like when a teenager is just about to find out that his parents dont actually have any way to punish him.

The one damning thing I insist makes this Sam's fault (other than assuming he's on set working; it's his money) is the naive & tone-deaf claim he thought he could ever sell this to a major television network. As if it wouldn't be a shitshow of inexperienced people scrambling to pick up the pieces after Sam or trying to make boring people not boring.

I still think Vance took an L for singing Freak on a Leash by Korn during Simmons departure instead of Little Girls by Oingo Boingo.

I'm starting to think Mauro left because of how excited he was last night talking about his underage grindr experience with a man 30 years his senior and it rubbed off on him like most gay abuse does.

Giving their phones back a second time after all this is fucked, but the show has recovered from so many mistakes and bad decisions at this point they may just accidentally capture something great again.
