Most of which is just empty rooms.
A first pass edit would eliminate all the footage where nothing is happening. This can be automated..
A second pass edit would categorize the remaining footage by who is on camera. This can be automated.
You'd probably want to tag footage where people are asleep or similar low-activity content. This can be automated.
All of those could be done simultaneously.

At this point you've already got metadata to autogenerate watchable stitch edits that just follow a specific character wherever they are and whatever they're doing. You have metadata to autogenerate nearly complete outlines for edits of every time any combination of characters are on the same camera. You have metadata to see when you've got groups of people together and something is probably happening.

Then it's the problem of having humans actually watching the footage to identify the content and build a narrative, but you're down to a fraction of the original 9000 hours.

I automated your mother's Metadata last night after I identified her narrative structure.
