With a (questionable) W from James Drake, how would you rate season 5 of Fishtank?

  • 1 Star — Absolute disaster. Unwatchable, boring, production fucked it up bad, the fish were lame

  • 2 Stars — Pretty bad. Some funny moments, dragged, too many vibe repair days. Barely worth checking.

  • 3 Stars — Average. Solid entertainment in spots, some good chaos and crashouts, but nothing special

    Votes: 177 22.8%
  • 4 Stars — Really good. Lots of hilarious moments, strong fish personalities, solid content and vibes

It sounds like when he says fishtoys he means custom donation goals and stuff like that. Like $10 for pin the tail on the donkey alerts etc.

My only concern at the moment about it is how few of the fish still stream. Brian, Vance, and Sylvia have all stopped. Damiel has been streaming regularly to a dozen people or less so he stands to benefit most but I don't think he'll take them up on it.

Also what happens when someone like Meg wants to stream? are they going to ban people off the platform for anything?

Every "streamer" is (or should be) vetted first, most likely only fish who didn't crash out before and didn't violate the FT NDA. Otherwise is going to be a trashfire in the making.

That's actually a great and surprisingly magnanimous idea of Goran's. But the Fish are too retarded to use it. Baring maybe Letty and that's a stretch.
No it isn't. Why would a fish lock themselves into a walled garden with zero discoverability? Even Youtube is less than ideal compared to Twitch and Kick on this regard. The only benefit is loose moderation which is a problem outside of the tank, not a benefit. Who wants to deal with TTS dropping N-bombs 24/7 or whatever else schizo delusion the fishtank community has come up with that week? This service is going to be used by a few paypigs streaming to an audience of 4 people. Josie, Tayleigh, Taylor and Trish are basically locked in on thier respective services with Taylor on hiatus and Tayleigh scaling back to a single day a week until her crochet backlog is finished, Josie has a well oiled paypig machine running that would be insane to throw a wrench into. I just don't see any upside for a fish to move there.

Honestly I think there are a few fish who would be hopeless to keep a reasonable following on a mainstream platform who will benefit. Vance would have been a big one - he was vaguely popular on YouTube but wildly popular in the Fishtank audience so simply being there on the site would actually increase his viewership even if there is a limit on how big he can get there. Jimmy seems well satisfied with his weirdly rock-solid 80 viewers and he would certainly get more on the site so there's no loss for him considering he probably wouldn't have grown.

For a lot of the fish I think they had humble goals that never aimed to be bigger than Josie, so this would be good enough. I think some of you are imagining them trying for fine dining streaming when they were only ever aiming for fast casual.

It's a good deal for Jet and Fishtank.
It's a good deal for fish with deadend streams, people like Jimmy or Abi.
It's an atrocious idea for fish with their own audience (just Josie really) or with a chance of growing one (Letty if she keeps streaming on Kick).

There is never an upside to adopting a new platform with a limited userbase. This is true for streaming, true for computer hardware and software, and about any sort of platform in existence. Unless the fish are being paid to be on that platform its just pure downside for them. If a fish was going to uproot themselves it would benefit them to move to Kick at this point since the moderation is looser and the company is still in its growth phase so its far more generous with payouts than Twitch or Youtube.

Let's face it. Streamers are a dime a dozen. The only fish/freeloaders that have really expanded their audience post show has been Jon and Tai to some degree, and that has been through doing IRL stuff.. Even with streamers on the higher end of view count (Taylor, Josie) owe the majority, if not all to the fishtank audience.

The FT fish restreaming Fishtank anywhere else isn't going to lead them to any more visibility or donations. That's an extremely niche market. Having different factions from different groups compete for their fish to win will increase interest in the show. It's not like Jet is gonna force them to sign a contract to not stream on other platforms.

It increases engagement for the fish from S1 and S2 and will lead to higher viewer engagement as well.

I'm sure Jet wants to give viewers a reason to join the FT site rather than watching through flowstreams (what most of us did), this is a good way to do it.

I don't think you understand. Instead of dealing with a massively oversaturated audience on Twitch. The fish can stream on Fishtank to their built in audience on a platform that is familiar to that audience, deal with far less censorship, make a whole bunch of money from whales who've already bought in to Fishtank, and do all of this without having to fuck around with Twitch's jewish algorithm. It's a great deal for any of the Fish.

(Letty if she keeps streaming on Kick).
IP2 seems to like her... I've seen her blowjob vid posted at least 5 times now.

I get what you're saying, but the way fishtank works is that either the viewers love you or hate you and they'll never budge on that issue, the growth potential is just non-existent and locking into fishtank permanently like that isn't ideal either, a fish should want to be independent. The fans will follow them to Youtube, Twitch, and now Kick without hesitation. Some of the fish like Josie, Tayleigh and now Letty would have audiences that would put them near the top of most categories on Twitch and Kick which feeds audience growth. Letty's streams on Hunger games would have viewership numbers between 800-1.1k and her recent IRL stream with Tai was between 475-525 which puts her near the top of the roster.

Just showing that there is a huge falloff from the whales in most categories:

It would be best to use Betty rather than Meg as an example. Of all the casts that burn bridges with productions, Betty is the only one who managed to build her own audience whether you like it or not. Now, the problem is whether Jet will allow her in or not.

she's like Murdoch-chan but also a nympho, what's not to like. Beyond that, she has enough passion in her life where she can find shit to talk about for hours a week. getting into a new hobby and injuring herself in a different way. she also gets weird procedures done like fucking up her face with injections/fillers.

Its not like other streamers who have no content. Her using it as a friend simulator is great too for a small scale audience. once you hit more than like 50 active people than its harder to execute.

Betty is not ever going back on Fishtank.
I kinda believe that but at the same time when Jimmy threw a mallet at Abi I thought, Jimmy is not ever going back on Fishtank. And then they brought him back one time and brought him back a second time as a commended star.

Betty is a level way beyond him but if they invite some real fucks onto Hunger Games I can see the wiggers inviting her back to watch her spiral tbh.

I think Jimmy is a special case - when you hear everyone talking about him outside of the show, they speak well of him. Bloodgames producers hate working with Jon and like working with Jimmy. Compare to fellow alumnus Jon, who has burned his bridges with several Fish post-tank and it only seems like Jimmy made more friends.

Jimmy is a freak who was goaded into being violent, but who most people generally like. Somebody like Betty who is just whoring herself out for attention, in a literal sense, does not really make anyone want to work with her.

Betty went straight from being kicked off to in detail shit talking every person in production. Jimmy didn't.
True but when I think of it in terms of "Betty told everyone that Jet did whippets and got raped by a streamer and is not allowed in the fishtank" versus "Chicken Andy sexually assaulted a drunk homeless lady and is the star of Hunger Games" my sense of proportionality is skewed.
