Dude you're talking about terminally online NEETS, they didn't have lives or reputations to ruin lol. All that happen was they were on display as the horrible examples of humanity they are.
you're projecting.
the only neet in the cast was meg, and summer quit her job to be on the show.

they're not there to be on display as "horrible examples of humanity," if you get that high feeling superior to nerdy people who work minimum wage you should raise your standards

You're rather defensive over a bunch of losers lol. My whole point is fishtank didn't ruin their reputations, there was nothing to ruin lol. Cole was a spergy dork and acted like a spergy dork, Brian was a burn out loser and acted like a burn out loser. Jimmy is a red pill sperg and acted like a red pill sperg. Kayleigh was a cringelord and acted like a cringelord. Tj was a dipshit dingdong and acted like a dipshit ding dong. I could go on but you get the point; these are people who had no prospects to the point they were willing to spend the holidays on a niche internet reality show lol. They were losers before, during, and after the show. Acting like them going on fishtank made their lives worse is a joke, there wasn't anything to ruin.

the entire reason Jet's reputation has been tanking and why the contestants were leery of production and mistrusting is because, yes, they all had things to lose. Everyone's life could be a lot worse than it was before they signed on to the show. They lose weeks of paychecks, there's public embarrassment. Letty, Josie, and Vance sat on a pee stained mattress and the vibe wasn't as negative as it was in S2 because there was recognition that the show can only go on with the cooperation of the cast and they trusted Jet to not abuse his role and to make the crap they go through into something worthy.

Any cast member could very easily be cast as the next Simmons, if the wiggers wanted to do it. They're not supposed to feel like that's an imminent undeserved threat. If they took CK at her word then Brian's deranged. Sam could sit Tayleigh in a chair and tell the audience how much he hates pick me women and the 1488 cringe shit and scream at her for it before kicking her off, sending his fans after her. MDE holds that gun. Trust is what keeps the fish from feeling like all 200k of Sam's twitter followers aren't going to mail them pipe bombs when they go home. Imagine what would have happened if people located Nifty. Just because they're cringe doesn't mean fishtank can't make their lives worse.

Jet should go back to being the good cop like he did rather successfully through most of season 1. Give him basketball shorts, a lanyard, and a clipboard. Have him ask the fish what they want for groceries, check in on them, and have nothing to do with challenges or punishments. He should not be a director. He should not wear an oversized suit and sunglasses. If they get people who aren't familiar with MDE, convince them that Jet is just some 20 something year old production assistant they hired to run menial tasks and has nothing to do with the evil inflicted on the fish and just wants them to be comfortable and happy. Better yet, just have him actually do that. Then slowly have him start participating in the gaslighting like the fake ad reads from season 1, since the fish will already trust him. Or just get rid of him. His ideas suck.
Cutting the sharks out was one of the dumbest things they did in S2.
Most of the funniest shit for me from S1 was the shark antics. Or when Jon tardchased a couple of them.
The sharks being the mute pantomiming faceless strong arm of production and completely different from the relatively polite and nice production themselves was great.

It would've helped if the sharks were different people, since everyone would've known that it was just Jet & Ben

That's what made it great about them being voiceless and faceless. Yeah they can *guess* they're Jet & Ben but they didn't know for sure. That is until they were taken downstairs and saw the suits laying around or saw one of them putting it on.
They were also a good outlet for Jet&Co. If he gets frustrated with them instead of being an open asshole like in S2 he can come back as a shark and act it out that way, relieving that stress so he can come back as nice Jet later.

Even on cams everyone knew when a shark was Jet. No way the Fish couldn't tell in person.

I'm fine with Jet being a shark and the sharks in general, i'm talking more about his character when it came to talking to the fish. S1 he was like the go-to guy for the fish from production side and it seemed like he was just trying to get them what they needed, and that sam was the real boss who would chastise them for their performance. Also, Jon knew Jet was the red shark very early on and pointed it out to all the other fish because Jet wore the same red shoes when out of costume.

Sharks kind of lost the point when the very first one made half the cast soyjak. They should 100% be back in Season 3, maybe even 2.5, but I don't really feel like having them on more in this one would've been much better, unless you like Tayleigh going "YEAAAAHHHHHHHH"

I guess the argument from Jet would probably be "Why bother dressing up as sharks when everyone already is a fan of the show and knows the staff?" but to me it just came off as really lazy.

Simmons literally had his real world reputation ruined by being on Fishtank. He was falsely accused of being a pedophile and people drove him off the internet.

Really feel like people have rose tinted glasses when it comes to season 1. Are we really going to pretend the final competition for season 1 was good? They literally had nothing planned and were just taking ideas from twitter. They at least had some set up for season 2. Both are shit either way but it just seems weird to me how people like to pretend season 1 was magically better somehow...because it just is. Josie and TJ winning is a bit infuriating because Josie fucking sucks as a contestant and I will not respect anyone who says otherwise and TJ's "arc" was so extremely forced that him winning didn't really feel earned. Tay is a bit of a pickme but she still tried harder than TJ or Shinji as a contestant overall and had more standout moments.
The magic of s1 was the cast. The people were more interesting. S2 cast were clout chasers with no motive to compete, that's why half of them couldn't survive 1 week.
Everyone in s2 couldn't shut up about s1 and sam hyde for the first 2 weeks.
Also everyone was talking about the challenges, the alcohol and cigarettes was too common where in S1 alcohol served as a celebration of a finished challenge.
Maybe they should have asked twitter again for challenges.
I think Jet needs to take a break, take time to plan shit because the burnout is starting.

The biggest flaw with the season 2 cast was so many people weren't actually there to compete. Megan, Cole, probably Summer had no real intentions of staying the whole length of the show. They wanted to go on fishtank because they were fans of the show and wanted the experience of being there not because they wanted to win. Once the charm wore off they left. That did not happen in Season 1. The entire cast save for Damiel wanted to win. I think even Mauro would have stayed if he didn't get spooked by the Simmon shit.

The quality of season 2 was hurt the most by the fact the Fish knew about the first season in detail. So many moves by Production that we perceive as stupid or ineffective would have been at the very least slightly more effective if the Fish were unaware of the first season. Sharks could have been included if the Fish didn't know about season one and soyjaked over them. The Fish would be more likely there to compete if they didn't know about season one rather than wanting to go on the show because they saw it before. Repeat freeloaders and repeat challenges, while lazy to us, would have been unique to the Fish, resulting in unique reactions.

Most everyone in this thread predicted that including fans on the show was bad idea when it was first announced as a possibility. Instead of high tension, real reactions, and the confusion and subsequent adaptation Fish would have to endure brought about by the unpredictable nature of the show, it was just a bunch of people thinking "omg just like season one!!!" It made things that would be enjoyable completely ineffective.

Someone wanted Josie's recent member's only stream where she plays Half-Life. While I'm at it, I'll share some member's only art she posted awhile back.

The lack of reactions from the fish was another major issue during season 2. Because of their prior knowledge of the show they could not be shocked. Remember when Jimmy was brought back in a Fish costume and he did his reveal and literally no one but Tay cared? Most of the fish seemed utterly indifferent to what was supposed to be a big moment. I remember taking this screenshot live for this thread thinking "damn this is lame as fuck".

I don't know if prior knowledge is really behind that... Tay and Shinji probably would have had a reaction to it but being in the presence of TJ and Trisha would make them muffle it.

They did have a lack of reaction to a lot of things though, I think if they wanted to work with that better they should have thought more about changing the show up. Bringing in Frank or Chris was dumb - they'd only done one prior season of this, it's not like there was a tried and true formula they had to stick to and they easily could have surprised the fish if the season had just been... more original.

The Jimmy reveal probably wasn't the best example to use. He had been gone for like 2 days and it's not really shocking people didn't care.
