You know, they can port every FE game up until the 3DS series to the Switch if they're desperate enough.

Take my money pls
That's what I would say if I was retarded.
Wow, amazing. This is seriously more low-effort than the Mario 3D AllStars collection.

For just an amazing purchase of $49.99 (probably, final price still pending) you too can own a copy of a shitty NES ROM from decades past. Complete with the ability to fast-forward and rewind gameplay, which have been staples in emulation for decades now. Except they're not bound to a button for quick access, you have to pause the game to do so. Comes complete with re-printed merchandise from years ago, including a Nintendo Power poster ('member that?) and NES cartridge.

What's equally baffling to me is that at he beginning of this trailer they show footage from Smash Bros Melee of Marth fighting Roy. Roy's game, The Burning Blade, has never been localized either. To this day Roy has never been in a Fire Emblem game released in the States, outside of an appearance in Fates if you scanned his amiibo (and the mobile game). To top it off, this port is entirely unnecessary because Nintendo already remade this game for the DS eleven years ago.

>nintendo releases the first fire emblem translated
neat! They sould do this with more old games
>You need to buy it and it's not on NSO
What?
>Japan DOES have it on NSO
You greedy asses
>5,99 for a NES game
>B-but it has a rewind and fast forward button!
>Also, for TEN TIMES THE PRICE you can get all of these things that are useles AND the game is still only digital instead os tossing the rom onto a 1gig card
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING CHINTENDO
>Limited print!

And the worst part is, i know a guy who already pre-ordered it

I wouldn't exactly say it's more low effort than All-Stars since they did have to localize it and $5.99 is really not bad for such an old game. I'm more upset that they're continuing this trend of limited releases for no real reason besides milking FOMOfags. People also seem to be pretty sure The Burning Blade will be the next Echoes style remake which is what I thought this was announcing at first.

Let's face it

Nintendo knows what their fanbase is, by now.

I'll be honest, as someone who isn't into emulation or fucking around with ROMs, I kinda like that they're re-releasing it for the US, even going so far as to localize it. I've always been curious about the earlier Fire Emblems and it is kinda nice that we're getting an actual English release for the first one.

I say kinda because there's still a lot of fuckery with it. The Collector's edition is quite frankly insane. It's just so tacky, and it's for a 30 year old game that only costs $5.99 by itself. They didn't even pull that shit with Mario 3D All-Stars. And as @Raiken pointed out, it's already available on the Japanese Switch Online for no extra cost. That's just plain inexcusable. $5.99 isn't a lot of money admittedly, but it's still bullshit that we'd have to pay for an NES game the Japanese are getting at no extra cost.

It's a nice idea done poorly is what I'm saying.

That being said, I do kinda hope they continue localizing the other early games, because some of them don't even have complete English patches as far as I know.

Already I am getting tired of Nintendo's shit of limited releases.

It wasn't cute with 3D All-Stars and it is even worse here.

They released a full price collector's edition of a NES game that has significantly upgraded and fully fan-translated SNES and DS versions which do not appear in said edition. The second half of the DS remake even came with all the satellaview maps as a bonus. This has.... nothing. This lazy-ass port's translation probably won't even be as good as any of the fan translations for any iteration of this game, or the official DS one. You don't even need to learn to use a patching program if you don't want, cdromance has all the roms prepatched.

If anyone hasn't played the original yet I recommend the DS remakes, the second half in particular is a must-play if you like Fire Emblem, I'd also advise you to download two particular patches and a save file. One to give the first game the second game's improved battle animations, another to translate the second game (you can get it prepatched though), and a save file for the second game with the extra crap unlocked already, it normally relies on servers that don't exist anymore to unlock so this is the only way. If that's too much the SNES version is fine but the expanded story for the second half of the DS remakes is worth it imo.

When I first heard the news, the announcement video literally popped up on my Youtube feed. I thought it was a new game / spin-off, and honestly got hyped for exactly 1.21 seconds, until I ffwd'd the video to see NES splotches "graphics" and the words "never before localized".

I know someone already said it, but do we really need a localization when we already had a remake?! :story:

"You hear sum'n?"
-... nah.
- me neither.

although i will say that for 50 bucks i'd also want an extra artbook tossed in there.

Yeah. I was iffy to try and find Shadow Dragon since the servers also had extra weapons and items you can only get via servers that have long since died.

This is why Games As A Service is BS. The Scott Pilgrim Game was also this up till recently.

Haven't played FE6 in awhile so I don't remember the needed stat benchmarks. Karel is pretty much the ultimate growth unit since all his growths are in the triple digits. Zeiss has a 60% strength growth so it's no surprise that he capped. Most of Perceval's current stats are lower than vanilla but I think the promotional gains should bump him up somewhere around that area. Guinevere seem somewhat tanky for someone who shares the same class as Micaiah lol. Milady's speed irks me a bit.

Are you going Sacace or Illia? What hack were you playing to get Guinevere and Eliwood?

Hello people of KF. Newbie to FE here.

I've interested to play fe throughout this year but never actually bothered to play it.

Any recommendations?

Your only legal option is to get Three Houses if you don't have an 3DS.

Assuming you know how to get other games, FE7 and FE8 are nice to start with. FE7 is probably the most "generic" FE out there while FE8 is fairly easy if you grind. Don't let Chaz's bad opinions sway you from playing FE8 though lol.

If you plan on playing the older games and don't know Japanese, SerenesForest has a bunch of translation patches you could use.

Anything Chaz says is a shit take.
He is a self-professed dogfucker on his Twitter before he nuked it.

But yeah. I concur with tracking down FE 7 and 8.
FE 8 is pretty easy due to easy grinding possibilities whereas FE 7 has some Boss and Arena Abuse tactics to grind with. Marcus and Seth will also help a lot for efficient plays so don't be too afraid to use them when you need to. Eliwood's party is that crap when it comes to taking and dishing out hits.

Also, only Hector's Hard Mode will grant Hard Mode bonuses so Eliwood's Hard Mode is an easy miss. But you do not get the stats for your Lyn Mode party members if you go that way. So your Sain may not be as amazing as he was in other playthroughs.
