The scope of this patch, for now anyway, is actually more ambitious even than what's shown here; it's not just overworld combat animations, it's things like speeding up armor knight movement with animations on, too. Very good stuff. Between this and still using emulator speedup because PoR will still be on the slower side anyway the combat forecast patch, anyone playing PoR on Switch 2 is going to be getting a markedly worse experience. Unless the Big N actually integrates commonplace GC emulator features into their shitty subscription service, which they probably won't.
Only semi-related, but I've never liked being told to judge PoR with the benefit of emulator speedup and patches for 2 reasons:
- every game is way better with speedup and patches
- I'm a petty vindictive bitch and PoR fans have been arguing it's better than every other FE game in every way long before Dolphin was viable
Maybe I'm just being dramatic/autistic over what's ostensibly just a bonus for the NSO subscription, and noone will actually give a shit.

I feel like the same happens with Oswin in Blazing Blade. I don't care if using armor knights is a Pitfall
, that beefy defense is hard to argue with when you get them.

I think I did. Mainly because Seth is so busted there's no real rush to promote any of the cavaliers.
Gilliam is... alright, he's no Oswin. I don't typically use knights from the GBA titles for long because their movement is a bit tedious to deal with, and I'm really stingy with boots.

One of the reasons Cavaliers are so good in GBA is precisely because they can help out units with poor mobility like Knights.
Just rescue Oswin with a Cavalier and drop him with another Cavalier in that same turn so he is wherever he needs to be!

Since someone brought up GBA cavaliers, Lowen is a real conundrum. If you look at his growths, he's a mediocre-at-best unit on paper. I don't think I've ever had a bad Lowen, though. Anecdotal "turned out for me" experience is usually a terrible way to judge a character (Eliwood,. Erk etc.) but he always seems to end up somewhere between good and amazing when I use him.
If I had to guess I'd say it's partly because of his utility causes him to be a little overleveled, and partly because in a class designed to charge ahead into the melee having a lot of defense and HP goes a long way.
TL:DR: If you look up Lowen's stats on the wiki, you'd think he was terrible. But he is pretty great

I've always wondered what makes these sorts of people drawn to FE of all things. While the past decade might've exacerbated it, it's not really new; at least from my recollection there always seemed a dedicated portion of the pre-Awakening fanbase that was obsessed with Ike's sexuality and race relations in Tellius.

I'd say it really exacerbated when Three Houses got released. It was basically a second "Awakening" for most people, as they became fans of FE because of it. It was a funny time to be there thinking about it, as I kept seeing loads of new people show up, and YouTubers I watched who never played a FE game before were making videos about 3H.

Bernadetta armored knight build was the best part of Three Houses. She even gets fun vengeance builds and fun supports. It’s a shame what the fanbase does to her.
