It's funny how half backed Church route is given that it's one of the original two routes conceived for 3H along with Dimitri's. You'd figure it would focus more on Rhea, but she's gone for most of it and for some reason still isn't playable (one of the biggest disappointments of 3H really). Seteth could have gotten more focus as a pseudo 4th lord, but he just sort of stands around and tells Byleth what they should do next. And if you're not gonna focus on Rhea or Seteth that leaves Byleth as the logical choice, but they don't end up doing much of anything either. Church route really just feels like you're going through the motions, complete with a horrible ending and surprising lack of information on TWSITD, Sothis, and the Church. You know, the stuff actually most relevant to the Church of Serios on their own fucking route.

I mainly read their forums on the off-chance that I find something entertaining; like the aforementioned politically correct way to simp for an fictional character that half of them hate.

And I haven't really finished the Church route, yet. But I might as well, since the final battle is right fucking there.
 
Hard to believe Three houses was from 2017. Really was a series low point compared to what came before and after it.

No idea what that "three hopes" crap was about since fire emblem warriors is a dogshit spinoff series. It desperately just wants to be an anime by taking away control from the player at all times to tell us this is in fact, an anime with a shitpost of a thirdperson real time RTS stapled onto it.

3H had a ton of casual appeal. Not only gameplay wise but design and character wise just like awakening did.

A girl would rather cosplay as Eldie or Robin rather and Colgate-chan and Celine.

Sure. It did. But it also had a story and characters that people like and still discuss.

the places that wanted Engage to do better affect a plebiscite attitude as well, hence why they’re so dismayed it wasn’t as popular as if that really matters, so I don’t think this excuse washes really. At least not to me.

I'm not surprised - Engage had it's upsides, and I admit I liked all the extra shit classes got that added some actual depth beyond "unga-bunga big numbers", but fuck me if I could play the story for longer than an hour. It was banking hard off nostalgia by bringing previous characters back for the gimmick, but it didn't do anything noteworthy beyond that.

And that's before getting into the hack job that was the lulcalization. Nintendo, you have more money than God, just do this shit in house and not deal with retards.

For as much shit as I give Awakening and how broken the game was if you abused Skill Inheritence to give all the Child Characters access to Galeforce, it managed to keep this series alive. For better or for worse.

The main problem with 3houses is the way class balance is handled.

Like every physical class with 0 exception wants D/C rank axes for the blow skill that gives +4 atk.

Some classes like Mortal Savant and Great Knight are famously bad too.
Also the system with innate and mastery skill makes class hopping way less interesting.
I don't think there's any good late game mastery skill beside quick riposte.

On one hand, yeah, balance in Three Houses is laughable - even beyond the Lords and Byleth, Lysithea exists to make any map easy mode once you get rolling on levels and stats - and the fact basically every Tier 3 Class requires Riding and is honestly kinda shit if it wasn't for the stat gain bonuses is never not going to amuse me, And yeah, outside Quick Reposte, the only one that's a maybe as far as being worth is Dark Knight having Seal Resistance for NG+ shenanigans. Otherwise it's Defiant Skills all the way down.

On the other hand, it's still more balanced than Awakenng, between the two games worth of nerfs to the Pair Up system and Galeforce being nuked from existence. Being able to make an entire Army able to move twice after a battle was amusing, if only to see how quickly I could speedrun maps...

Yeah, Mortal Savant is trying to fill in an niche that never really existed in the game; but I never really had any issues with Great Knights, aside from what it took to actually unlock it.

They've dropped the ball with the Holy Knights' passive skills (+5 white magic damage in the game where that moveset is life drain and one or two limited use overkill attacks; and immunity to hazardous terrain)

As for the rest, I haven't really experimented that much; the game is already easy enough as it is
