Because everything has to revolve around lances or axes, for some reason. Sure, the cavalry units generally had a sword and a lance to use; but it's a moot point, considering how mounted units can use most of the weapons, anyways. Only thing that you're missing out on is the experience bonus.

There being only 3 Master Rank Classes that weren’t either Mounted or Flying was already restrictive enough, and having 2 of those be Gender Locked (War Master and Gremory) was a terrible design decision.

Sure, the DLC added 4 new Classes - 5 if we’re counting Jeritza’s Unique Class, we aren’t, alright - , with two of them being Gender Locked to Female Only, but considering they’re at the same level as the Intermediate Classes, it’s barely worth running more than a Handful of Master Classes. Outside of doing some stupid meme builds - making Lysithea a Dark Flier or Mortal Savant is always funny to me, but and Magic Class just let’s Lysithea break most maps - I’ve mostly just used MC’s entirely to gets skills to break NG+ even more.

class balance is hilariously shitty because Linhardt gets crazily outclassed as a white mage bc all the women can just go gremory.

same with hubert, who doesn't have the stats/growths to go mixed offenses like Lorenz. Hubie is stuck as a dark bishop or something similar.

There's no way to bring it up without sounding like a huge shill but for anyone interested Zoran has excellent videos on conquest that have significantly reshaped the way I play it. He also a series on the yellow route in 3h that's apparently good, but I am incapable of giving a shit about 3h and haven't watched more than two of them

Linhardt gets doubly screwed over because the BE route has Dorothea by default, and with minimal investment does his job even better, even if you just make her your Dancer for the memes.

Least Hubert can be made a Dark Knight or some extra mobility, but Dark Knight doesnt give him a Magic Uses Boost - and again, Dorothea is in BE by default, and grabbing Lysithea basically makes Hubert useless.

Would be interesting to see the fallout of such coming to light. Now people will spam Mekkah's comments reminding him of the time he backstabbed Mangs only to have the tables finally turn.

All this talk about how lacking the master classes in Three Houses are is giving me more appreciation for the tier 3 classes in Radiant Dawn.
Giving every class three stages like Pokemon was a much better approach than these hybrid classes where some things like archers don't even get something.

Well, an mounted mage who's good with a lance can break the game; and the flying classes fulfill the roles that you'd expect. Otherwise, it's an choice between going for a slightly higher damage output or dealing with less mobility will better growth rates.

But it's also weird that they didn't include grifffens, considering that there's one in the crest of the Holy Kingdom.

That and Bow Knight exists, letting you turn basically any character into an artillery piece. The fact only 3 Master Classes are actually Good (Bow Knight, Gremory, and War Master) still amazes me - I’ve tried to make some work, even did a Mortal Savant Lysithea with Thunderbrand on a NG+ playthrough for the memes, you’re legitimately better off staying at the Intermediate Classes, unless you really need a Skill unlocked by maxing a Master Class…
