I decided to check up on how well the only 2 FE Tubers I sub to are doing and I have to say one year after the Mangs Drama,I think Mekkah lost some subs in the long run whereas Mangs is doing great even on his own.

Kinda funny to think about.
Makes me wonder what the point was all the drama if Mangs is doing amazing without everyone else it seems.

Here are the pics.

I uh, don't really see any way that recruitment goes against replayability though. If you leave certain characters unrecruited, that might make certain pt 2 levels more compelling to play, since you'll have to fight one of the students, and they'd be significantly more powerful than a generic enemy.
Story wise it doesn't make a lot of sense because even if the ideology of the house somewhat aligns with the recuruited character they won't join because they spent less than a year with that house and should have logically some friends and family in their country that they won't risk it to openly rebel against it (though some characters are justified in having no connection). It kinda like joining the irish resistance after a semester of living in an Irish dorm. It just feels forced like the children in previous iterations.

Replayability wise, if I make another run I'll 100% have Petra, Lily, Bern, Ingrid and Marriane in my party because they are absolutely perfect in their roles (thief, dark mage, adorable, flying knight, dancer). This means that already more than half my party is reserved unless I get royally fucked by rng.

What happened to Plegia? It's an theocracy like the new Afghanistan and it's almost as dysfunctional

This is one of the better parts of Awakening's story. After Chrom seemingly kills Gangrel, the entire country of Plegia is left without a leader and while scrambling to find some sort of authroity, the people flock to the cult of Grima which explains why Validar and Aversa come to control the country.

What I like about this is that it's another sort of reflection of Ylisse's inability to take care of its neighbors, thus furthering the theme of bonds. Because Chrom leaves Plegia to it's own devices despite it still being a bit of a craphole after Gangrel eats it, Validar is able to continue his plans so effortlessly. Sure he had a reason to not follow-up as much as he could in Walhart, but it shows the continued weakness of his leadership. Its a different kind of "abuse" from Ylisse which is why the Plegian people turn to the Grima cult so easily.

Because this is Fire Emblem, that's as deep as it goes, but it's a really interesting event that lends itself to the overall world of Awakening without taking away from the main plot, something I can't quite say about other events in that game.

Technically, it gets a little bit deeper with one of Chrom's parents having to deal with the war that Gangreal might have started and he's trolling the kids with spies, gay ops, and the "sins of your father" routine.

It's actually pretty funny on how much effort that he's putting into that. But then again, he's an manchild.

it's funny bc Mangs just whipped out advance wars vids way before the trailer for a new game dropped.

The twitter army fucked up, they bungled a gayop, and everyone involved is fucked except for Mangs, who's in therapy and has a job and all that jazz. Most people on social media can't even get the accusations right and multiple people have called him a serial rapist, amongst other things.

Mekkah's boring, I called him a nigger in some irc chat around 2008-9. I'd rather watch Aether or Excellblem because they're entertaining.

why do i get the feeling most of us are in the fucking never punished society server.

It might be my weird sense of humor, but Lindhart and Caspar social interaction is pretty hilarious if you do the final part post time skip. The first two parts are Caspar being angry for being a manlet and Lindhart suggesting to him he needs to "play smart" and hit the guard who beat him in the shins. The final part has him do it and win the fight.
Now the problem besides the time skip is that Caspar grows into a pretty well built man (next playthrough I 100% make Byleth a Whore Master). So imagine you are some guard in the monastery, you fight with a manlet and 5 years later some giga chad stops you, kicks you in the shins so hard it fractures and then goes away without saying anything.

Lmao the uncrackable egg. What an amazing shitstorm, I've never seen a gayop crash this hard since Mundanematt. All matt did was take out himself, but everyone against mangs fucked themselves.
And that Response Vid Chaz made was so bad,he changed his name into something that sounds gay and has privated said vid.

Tried doing Blazing Sword Hard Mode again and it really sucks to have a blind spot or a unit positioned in a way where it cannot help others. I lost Merlinus to a random Pegasus Knight whilst everything else was doing fine and Hector was tanking hits from Cavaliers.

mfw noone got the stories straight and the whole "YOU'RE HIJACKING MY VICTIMHOOD" line is immortal.

all the people that started the shitshow keep trying to "move away from it" but it follows them now bc they were all idiots.

Finished Edelgard route, overall it's a bit of a nice twist on the usual formula of Empire bad, Alliance good that is way too overused in games. I think I'll take some time before deciding if I'll have a ng+ or not (and if yes then with what house).
I think the removal of the weapon triangle was a big mistake since it removed with it a lot of the strategy involved in battles. The weapon triangle made you always aware of who or what was attacking you so no one was safe and made you balance your group or plan for the map ahead, while in my game (which was on hard) the characters got so obscenely powerful I could just throw them out against multiple attackers and know they'll come back in one piece (and likely kill every attacker). I still felt like magic users were way too op (especially with range enhanching items) but that might be me jewing out on using the rare weapons (while casters have no such limit) and having basically infinite heals makes items pretty pointless and attrition non-existant. Archers felt a bit too weak but that might just be bad rolls (Shamir actually managed to get a zero stat level up once).

Plot wise part 1 was WAY too fucking long and it's really the main issue for me on starting ng+. The persona shit doesn't mesh well with the fact characters can die, so the plot was very limited to only the house leader while the side characters say a line once a month and then disappear into the background. It also doesn't help you don't see any of the politicking involved with the war until it's way too late to get invested. From what I understand Blue Lions actually make the first part more tolerable with actual effects of the main story, but having it limited to a single house is just bad design. Apperantly the different routes makes Rhea/Edelgard go insane to justify them being a villain? This sounds like a very lazy solution rather than have consistent character writing. Also having a third neutral house with what amounts to a "true ending" is a huge cop-out.

Crests were very badly utilized considering they are seen in-universe as a massive thing. They give you a small bonus once in a while and that's about it. Why not make it so only characters with crests can use specific spells (for example, faith magic)? It's a bit overused trope but it makes a hell of a lot more sense. The idea of talents was kinda meh, you are extremely limited by the classes (want a winged archer? Get fucked) and just encourages a ton of meta-gaming (especially if you angle for a specific master class) rather than having freedom in creating different character classes. For example, there is no sane reason not to learn faith and magic at the same time, especially for female characters.

I think the game would have been better by cycling the player character between the houses in the first part (and turning off ally death for it), giving you a lot more emotional stake with both the house leaders and members, and culminating it in a choice of which house to follow in the war (which can be jumped straight into in ng+), massively cutting the tedious start. Afterwards the second part can have ally death and killing characters you used to control will be far more interesting.
And if the devs really wanted a true ending route, it would have been easy to have one where Byleth goes back in time to the end of part 1 and prevents the war alltogether. Have the leaders of the 3 routes join in with their end-game stats and it would have been cathartic.

Technically, the weapon triangle does exists. It's just that you'll be the only one who's using it and it eats up a skill slot. Plus, by the time you actually unlock it, it'll be kind of hard to justify using it.

But it's removal is kind of weird, considering just how many types of weapons that are in this game. And plot-wise, the Blue Lions is essentially the only one that makes sense; although the Golden Deer actually addresses the problem. But it's kind of annoying listening to Claude's nonexistent racism issues or Edelgard's hatred of crests. Of course, this leaves you dealing with Dimitri's PTSD whenever people die during the first half of the game.

So I am looking back on Fire Emblem 6 and 7 and I was wondering since I guess FE6 was the first game to use Hard Mode Bonuses, what would be some of the best units that have them?

I know Percival is considered one of the best units in Hard Mode cause his key stats like Strength and Speed being 20 with Defense and Resistance being like 14 and 11.

That is not including the promoted 8 movement as well as amazing Weapon Triangle control with A/B Ranks on 3 weapons.

Compare with Harken in FE7,sure Harken has higher stat totals but is foot locked and only has 2 weapons with B rank in both. Yeah. The higher Resistance and near maxed Strength makes Harken be a better investment than Raven for late game.

When I first heard about the weapon triangle changes I figured that the series was still going down hill after Awakening turned me off for a while. In practice tho I'm surprised by how much I prefer this for the melee weapons, it feels like it just opens more options than it limits. I feel like the weapon advantages works better for different types anyway, like bows vs flying and magic vs heavy armor. Melee advantages weren't nearly as drastic, sure, but at that point I'd rather focus on unit placement than rock paper scissors. Optional combat artes and special weapons with bonuses fill the idea nicely enough as is

I barely used the weapon arts except the ones that increase range or hit rate. It's not worth it especially with quick characters that can hit twice.

Well, you're only missing out on gambling on 60%-80% hit rates if you're going against the flow, IIRC. But with 3H, the effective damage is basically overkill if you grind a lot. As in, why use a mace on a knight when you can already kill him in two hits?

Although, 3H doesn't exactly scale well as you'd expect on Hard.
