Much like Reinhardt and Brave Lyn back in the day, you need to have a dedicated counter. And as beast effectiveness is very limited, I think the most easily available is Petrine

  • Beast-slaying weapons are rare with 1/3 of them being unique weapons of Seasonal Units, most of them target Def (so Hegemon Edelgard can still usually laugh them off), and even Hapi is likely only going to wound Edelgard before getting destroyed during retaliation.
  • Armor-slayers are more common, but most are physical weapons and the Micaiah's are notably physically squishy, so it is hard to get a player-phase KO. Adding insult to injury, some players will feed a Sheena to Edelgard so that El will have the Svalinn Shield, meaning you can't use armor-killing weapons either.
  • Sacred Seals means that players can slap on Mystic Boost to increase the post-battle healing even more to the point that you may as well not attacked at all.
  • You need a very specific team to beat Hegemon Edelgard in the arena, and this specialized team is then weaker against other teams.
Every single player getting a Hegemon is only going to make the game more cancerous, alongside convincing IS that they need to turn Dictator-chan into Camilla 2.0.

This is what makes the community so cancerous, all the counters IS has released for her after her debut are locked behind specific seasonal banners or 5 star rates. Not evryone is a retarded financially irresponsible whale to obtain plenty of them complete with merges.

Petrine is easily available yet you have to invest in her if you want to stand a chance even as a grail unit. It would be a big help if every player got at least one 5 star counter to her from AHR to even out the playfield.

But as this exceptional community has already proven with CYL, they'd rather keep having the same unfun blue haired and white haired lords in shiny alts than have something more creative.
 
Still been faithfully playing since the beginning btw, I might like this game a bit too much

I've actually systemically gone through almost every prf armorslaying unit (Bartre, Selena, et al) and none of them can demolish Fallen Edelgard, even Petrine has her issues against her, IS literally made her too powerful lmao

The only units that can consistently kill her in my experience is Leg Male Byleth, Valentine's Chrom, Thorr, and maybe a few others while Edelgard is untransformed. I really think they dropped the ball with that, because even in early-game when Takumi was a massive threat, you still could use Male Robin, who was VERY easily acquirable, to easily counter him.

They really need to drop a dedicated Fallen Edelgard slayer in the main pool. I have Leg Male Byleth to nuke her out of existence but not everyone else does.

So the Voting Gauntlet began today, who are you supporting in this first round? I went for Ninja Corrin since that's a strong counter against F!Edel. Good luck with the Gauntlet and hopefully your team gets the sweet, sweet final hour 12x multiplier.

Also is anyone going to pull for Legendary Caeda? I'm thinking of doing it but I also want to save orbs.

Edit: @Flaming Insignias would you look at that? F!Edeltards btfo'ed in the first round as expected.

I'm pretty new at this game. Should I be dumping my stamina on this event with the boss fights or farm orbs from story/gaiden maps in preparation for the AHR banner? In a pinch I have about 20 or so stamina pots I can consume to finish as much content as possible before the banner ends.

Ninja Corrin is at least a decent counter to F!Edelgard so that's a silver lining.

And easy quads, it doesn't look like a bad character tbh.

Start farming the orbs from Story maps since each difficulty can net you like 300 orbs. The bossfights are good to earn extra orbs but you're better off doing them once you have decently leveled units. (Or you have a Fallen Edelgard which honestly turns Normal and Hard maps into Easy ones).

Stamina potions are good to have for events like forging bonds or if you're training 5 star units. They also help for the monthly training quests which also grant you some nice orbs.

I started early-mid February so I have a fair few OP units from all the crazy banners. First banner I ever pulled from was the 5th Year Anniversary banner. And all my 5 stars are level 40 since I found out you can use the special maps to level up without using stamina. I just haven't really passed on many skills, but I can autobattle most PvE content and even abyssals are a joke with AFjorm, AIdunn, Yaoi Chrom and Yuri.

Then you're ready to tackle all tbe story maps in all difficulties. Once you're done with that you can do the Chain Challenges for more orbs.

AHR is pretty much the only big banner to care about coming up, March only either gets Child banner or spring banner. Same in April. I think Fallen Banner on May is another one to look forward that may be close, June has Bridal, July brings summer, August has pirates which aren't that worth saving for but it also brings CYL whib is worth saving for.

She's a tremendous character, thats the problem.
She's basically cavalry Ninja Lyn, complete with the self refresh, but has true damage based on speed, attacks enemy Res and has Trace packed in the box.
So everyone and their dog having her will mean she'll become standard, so better hope your red counter that you'll have to pack from now on can get her out round 1 or you'll be almost certainly losing a unit
 
Well, got 300 orbs now. Wonder how many I'll be able to save up before the banner. Maybe 1000 isn't out of the question, especially if I use up all my stamina pots. I really started playing at a good time. Sure, I've wasted tons of orbs out of ignorance, but I still have the lunatic maps on story mode and half the gaiden maps on all difficulties left.

Yup, that's my mindset. I wanted Azura but it'd be cancer if everyone had Azura. Either way I get a new unit HEH

My thing with this VG though is that nobody knows what they want in this community.

Azura vs Byleth:
feh: "You want a dedicated Fallen Edelgard slayer? Here's Legendary male Byleth, you should support him!"
feh community: "Ooooo azura tiddies"

Azura vs Corrin:
feh community: "We want DIFFERENT UNITS! We don't want the same thing every time!"
feh: "Okay, here's a harmonic cavalry dancer with Gray Waves, up against a ninja unit with a brave weapon and self refresh, which you basically got last year! This should be an easy ch-"
